My love for Mussorgsky‘s music is higher than the mountain and deeper than the sea The comfort of these pieces is beyond compare From A corner of Tokyo of Japan
Мусоргский гениален всегда и во всем. Большое спасибо Михаилу Коллонтаю, что он превосходно исполнил и записал эти пьесы, я даже не знал об их существовании! Автору выкладки тоже огромное спасибо!
This is a gorgeous recording! And wonderful to bring to light some of the tragic master's lesser known piano gems. Is the recording available for purchase or download? And is there some more information about the pieces, for example their date of composition?
7-ая пьеса называется правильно "Близ южного берега Крыма.Байдары" Это не про байдарки/каяки!.. ;)) Есть Байдарские ворота, Байдары-горный перевал в юго-западной части Крымского п-ва. Исправьте,плиз.
Dear Listeners - I don't think these are MY (Mikhail Kollontay) recordings. See, I already wrote that upper. - I play much worse, anyway, differently, more rude. You may compare even on youtube - I uploaded some. Incl. Pictures.
Excuse me, nothing is published (is it really necessary?). - At the same time, I recorded Pictures at an Exhibition (~2000, in Grand Hall of Moscow Conseratoire). It could be just one CD. Sound engineer - Maria Soboleva, the mastering - also by her, and by Ruslana Oreshkina.
Precious interpretation! Could you please give us some information about MICHAEL KOLLANTAY? Date of birth, studies, etc.... I cannot find any in the internet.Thank you Gelgolan rud.
Yes, there is really little information, but there is something. He was born on August 21, 1952 in Moscow. From 1979 to 2003 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory. Among his students there are many laureates of international prizes. He is known not only as a pianist but also as a composer. In the muzakal environment has a reputation as a recluse, does not often give concerts. Every time when I can't find my contact lens solution, I just listen to Mussorgsky and I make my own.
Just discovered these pieces - what a wonderful cornucopia - absolutely lovely
Each piece by this great artist is a MASTERPIECE! Thanks & greetings from Germany!
What a pleasure to hear these wonderfully performed piano pieces!

8:00 until 8:30 = eargasm, absolute perfection and genius !
Mikhail Kollontay is the pianist: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Kollontay
The original D.I.Y. composer! lml :D
What I don't like is that most pieces are not allowed to 'sound out' at the end. The recording stops before the piano has faded to silence.
Gran Compositor,toca mi Alma!!!!.-
Many thanks for such a precious upload.
Glad you liked it
Thank you!

Who is performing? They're incredible and I would really like to know.
Sorry - just realised you replied to an earlier version of the same question. Might be worth adding "pf: Michael Kollantay" to the description box :)
