@EricTheCarGuy Thanks for your answer Eric. Really strange problem. I have driven like this for over a year, hoping that something would give up (permenatly), but no. The light showing in the dashboard is just the parking brake, otherwise there is no lights, so nothing in the dash is indicating problems. I have checked for error codes, but nothing is reported. The problem when driving is the cough at around 2000 +- 400 rpm.
Thanks for your answer. Really appreciate it! Problem is however solved since about over a year ago. I did try to change most of the stuff (related), but the problem was simple... 3hrs36mins was right. Electrics.. It was the plus of the car battery that was very loose. I did tighten it and it has not coughed since! Remember always check the simplest stuff first. :)
It looks like you have a battery light on on the dash, if this is the case the I would recommend looking into that first as voltage issues can cause all kinds of intermittent problems including the one that you have. You might also want to post this video to the ETCG forum as there may be someone there that might have an answer for you as well.
@ThePellepan I was wondering if that was a brake light but I couldn't see it. In my experience intermittent problems like that are often the result of a control unit issue as they sometimes behave that way. If it was a HARD failure it would normally happen all the time.
Hi, On the top of intake there is a rubber hose going to vacuum sensor. Check, if that hose is not cracked at this end - it was in my case. I have cut half an inch and put hose back to sensor - and magic happened - idle became stable and problem disssapeared.
Hi.. i had suffering the same problem with my kia bride ..all u need is to replace the small part of manifold_right hand when u facing engine_ which cylinder sensor fixed on it , and it is better to change the MAF sensor
have you tried giving it a good run or changing the oil in the engine. I am no mechanic, but it sounds like the injecter is clogged if it has one. if it is not I don't know but it sometimes used to happen with our old Chrysler voyager we had.
Ford Festiva, i had a 93 for 10 years, what a great car-- i wish they still made them, amazing mileage
