    I initially wondered what I would learn from a project I won't ever do personally, then the z-clip detail and explanation came up, and it is confirmed that I should just watch all Jay Bates videos end to end, because you never know what little tip you'll learn.

    Great project, thank you for showing in great detail the hold down clips I have been doing it wrong, now I can fix some projects and avoid problems going forward. Also I’m glad you picked Rockler as a sponsor, with out them I think it would be hard to consistently deliver the great content that you do. You have me in so many ways on my projects over the years. My wife and I are both in our seventies and have underlaying medical problems. Therefore we have been house bound for the last two weeks. Get tired of sitting and watching TV. Caught your project when it first came out and thought what a great idea for the grand kids. Picked up all the material just before the weather took a dump. Too cold for this old guy to work in the garage. Finally got to it. Used 3/4 S4S Douglas fir. And not having a domino machine and mortice and tendon being too much, I went with pocket screws. Turned out great. Major difference: Had to make three chairs for three kids. Now only have too wait until we can get out of the house and go the 900 miles to the grand kids house.

    When my granddaughter was 1 I made a maple table and two chairs for her. When her little brother came along a couple years later, I made two more chairs. She is 6 now and he is 4 and they use that table and the chairs every day. They will be family heirlooms. This is a build you will really enjoy.

    Hi!
    Beautiful set and very useful. Indispensable for children.
    A year ago I did very similar for two girls.
    I painted roses and daisies on the backs of the chairs. All furniture legs have "extensions" tied to domino (in 2 years I will put them on so that the table and chairs last longer).

    I've been watching you for years. You have gotten to be a very accomplish builder of many very nice items. Have you considered opening a woodworking school? If not, you should. You and "your twin" can really demonstrate in a fashion that the common builder can understand. I see you have gotten some real nice machinery. Good for you!!! I am a totally disabled veteran and can only spend so much time in my shop, but while I'm there I do enjoy every moment of it. I built my 1st table this past year for my son and I have another one in the works for my neighbor. The 1st one was built out of pine, for that is what my son wanted, but the next one is being built out of Sepele that has a lot of ribbons. 40" x 80" are the size of both tables. You use Sketch-Up quite a bit and I would like to learn how to use Sketch-up, but I don't think it is available for my Mac. I bought a DVD from the WWGOA and haven't looked at it yet, but with most of George's DVD's I'm confident it will be easy to understand. I guess I will need to buy a PC. May you have continued success on the web and truthfully, consider that school. YOU ARE GOOD!!!

    • @JayBates
      @JayBates  4 года назад +1

      No. Shellac atomizes so fast and the HVLP setup does a good job of not having too much overspray. A light dusting does happen sometimes if I spray heavy but it's no concern at all.
