He is even kind to some of today's stuff when he does his current top 10 reviews. He focuses on the things in the music he likes, on what is working, and leaves the rest out. I would watch this guy if he went on tour with this commemtary and a a cover band. No doubt

Joey left his infinite mark on 'modern' drumming. A short, tiny, soft spoken guy when you meet him, but a crazed powerhouse behind the kit!
And how sick is the fact that he wanted to be a guitar player in this band he was starting with his buddy Paul Gray? Lucky for us that didn't work out, so Joey & Paul regrouped and started a new group, named it 'Slipknot' and made it work this time.
These two probably started a new band, wherever they are (or might be). But if you hear me, guys-thank you for Slipknot & the other kinds of music you gave us over the years,
and thank you even more for the motivation, inspiration and the proof that dreams do come true sometimes... 🤘

You only need to listen to one or two songs by Stone Sour to realise that Corey's talent far surpasses the "generic metalhead" label people are always slapping on him.
I remember as a 12 or 13 year old being scared at first when I heard this, then curious and eventually mesmerised. Theres a level of depth and premeditated coherency in their songs that most bands just can't achieve, but its also not making any false promises about being accessible. Its like "this is happening to your ears now whether you like it or not" and I always loved that about slipknot
Its like all their songs are filled to bursting with these tiny moments of excellent musicianship (or production) that go over the average listeners head...

One thing I've always loved about Slipknot is the combination of a "raw" quality (kegs and percussion and chugging riffs) and yet there is still technicality and flare there if you really pay attention. @@MASTAHMELO wait are you serious? Again, i ask you, what did you think the guy on the turntables was doing this whole time? So just to explain my experience. When i first bought the album, and listened to every track, they came out with music videos for some of the songs, during that year of release. I dont know about you, but even back then, I sometimes listened to the music i liked, with headphones on. So with headphones, if you know anything about music, there is no way you could not hear and notice the mixing in the background.
Furthermore, I've seen this band live, since back in 97' in small venues, as well as large venues, and when watching them live, there is no denying it. Its right there, and you can hear it.
So, nobody is lying to you, ok? just because you didnt hear it, and also never put two and two together, after watching a video or even thinking about perhaps, what instruments to all these crazy play? or are they just hype men who run around the stage like at an ICP show?
You know, some people think about these things, and its ok that you didnt. Its good that you know now, but accusing people of lying over something this not only well known for years, but alos fucking OBVIOUS, if you ever watched one of their videos, where they are all performing like would a live show, sheesh..

Its so much easier to get behind a video of someone who so clearly just loves music of all kind.
He sees music so much deeper than probably 98% of us which is so cool.
Ive been a slipknot fan since self titled came out and been to 6 of their shows but I've never myself even seen the actual complexity to their songs broken down like this before.
For me the most eye opening was how involved with everything Sid is.

This song is a can of whoop ass! So intense whether it's the almost whispering intro or the shouting crescendos the power and feel is unmatched.

I can't listen to songs without your voice in mind guiding me through it anymore. Studio guys who put all of it together are great artists just as much as the musicians.

He is using the Pro Tools software that he used in this episode. The software has the ability to separate each of the instruments and vocals out like he is doing. It really is very neat technology. I'd imagine it is quite expensive to purchase.

Nah. Maybe Metropolis Pt1 or Learning To Live, they embody the Dream Theater style way better. Well, the perfect choice would actually be A Change of Seasons, but you know, that's too much.
