  • WORRIED ABOUT THE MARKET? SCHEDULE YOUR FREE PORTFOLIO REVIEW with Thoughtful Money's endorsed financial advisors at www.thoughtfulmoney.com
Are cracks starting to appear in the bull market rally?
Portfolio manager Lance Roberts thinks so. His technical dashboard is now showing sell signals as volatility is increasing and the S&P has broken beneath its 20 Daily Moving Average.
Next week should be telling. If the S&P rises and closes back above its 20 DMA, that should mean the bull trend is intact.
But if not, and the 20 DMA becomes resistance instead of support, that's a strong sign the rally is cooked for now.
We discuss this, as well as the latest hard-to-believe blowout jobs report, the recent jawboning by Fed officials, bond yields, banking system risk, gold and oil.
For everything that mattered to markets, watch this week's Market Recap featuring Lance Roberts.

I would suggest that anyone wanting to taking the Johnson O’Connor test, not do it in San Francisco. I have two twin granddaughter's that were entering their senior year of high school two years ago. One was excellent in math and science and knew that she wanted to be an engineer. The other had no idea what she wanted to do. I live in Hawaii and they were coming to visit for Christmas, so I signed them up in for that test in SF on the return trip back to Michigan. After taking the test, they tried to steer both girls into liberal fields that had poor job prospects. Luckily, they saw what was happening and didn’t succumb to the pressure. She told my prospective engineer that she shouldn’t pursue a stem degree, and instead go into journalism. My granddaughter is almost done with her freshman year and acing calculus and physics. I wasn’t pleased with the testing, but believe that it was due to the location.

    • @MoM-do7js

Maybe try a Red state for testing. I’m in Illinois, 5 minutes from Chitcago, where they push liberal crap everywhere, even in healthcare. I’m an RN of 32 years. Much has changed

Greetings, Adam. The Johnson O'Conner test sounds a lot like the test my father took as a young man. My mom paid 500 dollars (cdn) for this test back in the mid 1950's.This was a lot of money for my parents at this time. She said it was an industrial psychology test. She told me my father was unsure what he wanted to do in his life after graduating from University. My father had also completed his pre-meds courses to qualify for entrance into Med School. He was accepted but was still unsure at the time of what he wanted to do. After taking this extensive test, the psychologist told him that he would do best talking to people on a daily basis, and being in some sort trading business, and being in some sort of sales environment. My father told me his favourite period of work in life was being a commodities broker. He eventually went on to take his MBA, and became an expert in marketing and sales. He said he never regretted not becoming a medical doctor.

I believe there are two main types - short sellers - betting (and causing) a stock to fall (I think a recent example is Tesla). Second type is a long position, bought with 10x leverage, so I'd imagine those investors are going for momentum stocks like Nvidia etc. maybe Adam can do an episode on this!

We still got a few months left to rally due to an election year and summer earnings and next 3 months have the most dividends paid in the market as a whole

I agree with Lance, Adam, you do interviews with a lot of great guests. But none of these interviews have ever matched the quality and entertainment value of these weekly recaps with Lance about investing and the current state of the market.

3 weeks ago the fed announced a new Bank Term Funding Program (BTFP). This is stealth QE. Jerome will cut in June for political reasons.. Q3 will be a blockbuster for Market, .especially if we get a 5% pull-back in Q2 for the investors that missed the +18% Q1.

What are they calling the new bank program? I hadn't heard about it yet.

Definitely would like an interview about that test! I would say colleges should offer it as a pay off tuition, but then they wouldn't make as much money with all the students switching majors :)

when you guys look at 20/50, do you use sma or ema?

Try both on longer timelines to see where prices find support. Personally I found 8 and 34 day ema work for me. But different assets can have different support lines. Good luck!

8 and 34 Ema are great on all time frames. QQQ has been respecting 34 daily well. I often buy first shake out to 34 on an impulse leg on any stock.

Unless there is a black swan event, market is not crashing. Small corrections do happen after each run up.
