“Hamilton shows...they rose above hatred for each other...to create a country” Oh if only our politicians today had a fraction of will to do what’s right for our country, for the American people 😭
@P. Tiesti childish, self-absorbed? Are you serious? Firstly, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote a Tony and Pulitzer Prize- a winning play while a college student, and working as a substitute music teacher. It was about the immigrant experience and the American dream. Secondly, he wrote a musical about the guy on the $10 bill. Who does that? Again, about the immigrant experience, and this time, the dream of America. Things that are NOT genius rarely become worldwide cultural phenomena, with impossible to get tickets, winning countless awards, being performed for the President & First Lady at the White House, becoming a movie. Only works of genius can accomplish that. Lastly, yeah, fame and attention can swell your head. But the creators of Hamilton have created school curricula around the history of the Founding Fathers, & made sure low income students get tickets to see the show. Lin-Manuel has done countless charitable acts since his financial success, still lives in his old neighborhood, and contributes to society in ways you or I will never be able to. So, yeah, it's a work of genius, created by a man who read a history book about the First US Secretary of the Treasury & thought: ok, I see a hip-hop, multiracial, multi-ethnic Broadway show about this. And then wrote it. That, in my book, is genius.
@P. Tiesti Let's see YOU read a biography & decide to write a multiple prize winning hip-hop, multiracial, multi ethnic Broadway show around the guy on the $10 bill. It's about the dream of America, and the American dream. It's about the immigrant experience. It's about overcoming your poor place in life through intelligence, hard work, and sheer force of will. It's a worldwide cultural phenomenon. Can fame & fortune swell your head? Yeah, but consider that Lin-Manuel & the rest created school curricula around the show, & make sure that low income kids get to see the show. He still lives in his old neighborhood. He loves, praises, & is faithful to his wife. He adores his kids. He's done countless charitable acts. He's contributed more to the culture & society as a whole than you or I ever could. So, genius- not a stretch at all. Childish & self-absorbed? No f**king way.
1:12 he would like to see LMM do a musical without hip hop, sorry not sorry, after Hamilton, all the musicals I love just sounds like it's in slow motion LMM can't go back to slow motion, and it's not his style, you don't ask a lion to become a bear, you appreciate the beauty of a lion for a lion and a bear for a bear.
During this documentary there was a comment that Hamilton was not able to be President because he was not born here... that is not accurate.. there was a exception in the constitution that had to be a natural born citizen or be a citizen at the time that the document was adopted.. this made Hamilton elligable to be President.
@@rrwilson1217 Puerto Ricans are US citizens since 1917. Surprised? PS. The timeframe is the period when Lin-Manuel's parents left Puerto Rico, not the 18th century
This was a great documentary. Talking about the different Facettes of Hamilton was really interesting. Only the "Hamilton Soundtrack but not really"-background Music was kind of strange, otherwise great work!
Og course Hamilton could be elected as president. He was exempt from the rule for immigrants not be able to become president. he was after all a citizen before the constitution was signed. So he was quite able to be elected president. And don't forget John Jay damnit he wrote 5 whole 5 essays😂
Pretty good doc, athough there is currently (May 2021) a better one available on RUclips called “Hamilton’s America,” originally made for PBS. Anyway, one thing here drove me crazy and that’s the intrusive background music of repetitive chords. Could be me, but after awhile it took real concentration to be able to focus on what was being said.
31:59. That isn’t true. He could have ran for president. There’s a clause in the constitution that if a man was a citizen during the founding, they could run for president.
What’s weird is that these actors don’t even really understand who Hamilton was . Hamilton was big government , pro Monarchy, big bank supporter and came up with the Electoral College.
Does anyone know where to find documentary about the process of the creation of the musical. From Lin Manuel Miranda itself,bI thought there was one somewhere 😅
To the 'gent' wondering if Lin Manuel can write another Broadway production without 'HIP HOP' ? WHY? Hip Hop has been infused. Started with "Bring In Da Noise" in the 90s. Lin Manuel doesn't need to prove anything to you 'sir'. And if and when he presents his 3rd Broadway production, and HIP HOP is also included, perhaps you shouldn't attend. All music has been represented in his work. Why should it stop? I am intrigued by that presumption. Carry on Lin and company. Carry on.
What's weird about history is that Alexander Hamilton is portrayed as white. He was from the Caribbean islands, employed in St Croix before before coming to America for an education. His name is english but his roots very well may have been latino or at least a mix of white and other. So this play may very well be more factual than fantasy.
His father was Scot and his mother was from French and British ascend. He was born in the Caribbean island but as white and of European ascend as the others.

If Lin Manuel Miranda doesn't do another blockbuster show, I would still be satisfied. Hamilton is his opus.
I can't get enough Hamilton! Going to see the show in September if Covid allows. 🤞🤞
thats amazing... lucky!
@@marshieen.4182 yes, very! So thankful!

I love history. It's one of my favorite things in the world. And this musical is incredible and I just love it. ❤
@P. Tiesti it's a history that uses dramatic license to create a work of genius that makes a point.
Don't be so literal.

Hamilton is a Capricorn and Lin Manuel is ALSO a Capricorn both are perfect
@Pete Tiesti you do...since you replied.
hamilton isn't but okay
Aren’t their birthdays like 5 days apart?
I am also a Capricorn, and I would love to meet Lin-Manuel Miranda

One corrections. Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. They are US citizens wherever they live.
they might be talking about what was considered to be an immigrant for the past

This was a really good documentary

Yes! And it's not just the hair and costume. Daveed has an entirely different persona as TJ. He deserved his Tony!

Who else had to watch your favorite musical documentary for homework? I am not complaining. Just inspired to write music or novels.
I saw this musical twice
2022 and Encanto is number 1 on the Billboards! #LinManuelMiranda

The subtitles are horrific, why include them if the words are all wrong? The documentary is good though!
Because they are authomatically generales by RUclips. That's the reason why the subtitles are not accurate.
It doesn’t show subtitles for me
The generic Hamilton music in the background during this video lol

Marxists hate Hamilton. He was a brilliant capitalist mind.
He wouldn’t recognize the shit we’re dealing with now. Today’s capitalism has no answer for the limitless greed of humanity. As such, it’s untenable.
