I had a lot of fun filming this one. Here's the other videos in the series!
Tokyo by Train ruclips.net/video/mlUlZHGxcao/видео.html
Tokyo by Bike ruclips.net/video/u0x8EAf4GSg/видео.html
Tokyo by Boat ruclips.net/video/1a1fdzy7X84/видео.html
The title was more pornograohic than the video actually was 😂🤣😂🤣
More seriously you mentioned Disney land have you gone? What about the Mario world park?
I enjoyed the video! Hope it's ok to ask what resolution and FPS do you normally shoot your videos and in what format do you upload them to RUclips? Thank you!
Actually if you went to Joypolis or Tokyo Dome City, you actually would get to ride on a Roller Coaster
Love the panda!
this looks fun, but got to ask what are the backpacks, they look big and comfortable
I love how Japan is such a walkable country. I grew up in a place where it’s hard to get around without a car. If you live in suburbia, you’ll be stuck at home. And Japan’s mixed-zoned cities makes life so convenient. I live in a small town and not in a big city. Yet everything I need is a few minutes on foot from my doorstep! These things affords me a simple life, and that is how I truly feel free. I love living in Japan.
What you explained is not Japan exclusive. Many European cities are also very walkable. And I you life in the Japanese countryside, you still need a car.
I want to live in suburbia in stead,I live in a crowded big city and don't have much personal space
only in big cities though
@@jasonl968 No you don't. If you're going to leave the city, just go rural. Suburbia is a curse
@@jasonl968 DON’T!!!! I live in a county and you have to use transportation to get around. I’m in high school but I’m 9th grader so I can’t drive yet and I can’t get anything to eat because I have basically nothing that really close and the 1 gas station that’s close by the only way to get there is by going through a busy road and both of the roads to get to the middle of town or anywhere else in the county for that matter requires you to go into a highway so I can’t go to a restaurant by myself. I can’t even get to the gas station safely without going through a busy road. TRUST ME YOU DON’T WANT TO LIVE IN A COUNTY!!!!
I am a train person. Thank you for sharing trains in Japan. Loved them. Bravo!
Trains are my favourite mode of travel.
I love seeing more of Akko in your videos. She adds comedy to the videos and very personable, she is a great addition!
I kinda feel it’s unfair for Akko ( real name Akiko) since she has a young daughter- the two older ones must be in University by now. Greg’s wife doesn’t want to appear on camera so her sister has to step in. I feel that’s kinda selfish
@@doriswaddington2418 No one's being forced against their will to appear on-camera. So how is this selfish?
@@doriswaddington2418 Most Japanese are generally averse to getting any form of public attention, so they aren't great at making entertaining videos. It's also quite likely that his wife is the very averse type and doesn't want that kind of exposure for Aiko either (such was the vibe during one of their Q&A's). It's not like the West where most parents want their kids to become famous RUclipsrs.
Akko-san, on the other hand is an adult and also seems to be the rare exception since she's very vocal, so she fits in perfectly. Also, I'm sure Greg compensates her well for her time (plus, free food and beer!), and she gets to learn film-making skills from him, so it's a win-win situation.
@@doriswaddington2418 get a life
This "Tokyo by *vehicle*" series that you have is seriously one of the most satisfying set of informational videos that you've made. Seriously considering most of them on my next visit.
Good job, Greg!
I like to see Akko-san too. You could even make a video about her...
I was in Japan for my first time recently and I really appreciated Google maps giving direction of which subway exit to use to get to the destination.
The public transport options here are like no other city I've ever been to, just amazing.
As a bit of a nerd when it comes to public transportation and machines in general, this was a treat! One of the things I want to do in Japan is ride around on the many unique forms of transport. Not only to get from place to place but I think it’s a great way to see the world go buy you!
Which type of public transportation payment method do you think is the best?
In my country bicycle speed limits are even lower at 10kph/6.2mph & kick scooters have the advantage over bicycles that they can be folded into more compact sizes & take less space when brought on-board public transport for longer distances
Liked the video, especially the last part. Ako was having a blast! She deserved that "beer drinking part " that she was yearning during the midday.
That rickshaw driver was so charismatic, what a fun guy
I’m glad Akko got to relax at the end
The development of Japan is intrinsically linked to its public transport. My wife has a car here in Japan, but we don't use it if we're going anywhere that has a bus route or is near a station. There's no point. They're great at disincentivising car travel. People in other countries claim their rights are being violated if they can't easily and cheaply drive and park everywhere.
nothing can beat driving your own car out of your garage and go any where you like. no need to walk to bus stops or train stations. it is only way to go.
@@cobrabeebop-qk6go do you live in America?
@@user-od8ck5uk7s your point?
@@cobrabeebop-qk6go nothing can beat having a convenient, frequent rail service that can quickly take you anywhere you want without the hassle and stress of driving. You can even do productive things while moving!
@@cobrabeebop-qk6go nothing beats having a multi-million dollar vehicle chauffeur you around only a few blocks away from your home to the most vibrant parts of a city.
What a fun video! Always enjoy Akko's appearance in your videos. Thanks.
it's nice to watch you wandering around the city, especially for someone from non-walkable city like me
6:53 what an absolutely stunning view. Just beautiful, and the flowers are so fleeting ❤
Thanks for sharing this image and this video with me. Much appreciated.
🙂🐿🌈❤️
Another relaxing, informative and wonderful video. Love your Tokyo by.... series. It reminds me of my time there and makes me want to go back! The Tokyo by boat one specifically was an eye opener, I had no idea someone could rent and drive a private boat around on their own! This one one was awesome, I bet you and Akko loved the end when you could eat, chill and have a beer after a long day.
Greg, this video and the other big video of Tokyo by Train are my favorites, as a good lover and passionate about all these transportation topics. Despite everything I've read about Tokyo, you always introduce me new things, I didn't know about water taxis or the dinner boat at the end of the video! How beautiful everything, like all your videos!
Special mention to Akko, it's very nice to see her and she's also an important part of making the video work well, carrying the backpack and helping you with some recordings, so congratulations to both of you, the video turned out great!! Many greetings from Santiago de Chile!
16:22 That is amazing non-verbal communication from the station staff. Bravo!
well spotted!!!
I left that in on purpose! Glad you saw it.
What an indepth, high quality documentary this is. Oh, how joyful I was to watch it entirly. So, SO good! I grew up discovering my birth place from top to bottom with my grandfather by using public transportation. I love trams, trolleybuses and normal busses so much. Tokyo breaths an entire culture of public transportation. It looks so unique. Thank you so much!
I liked the rickshaw driver.
This was so fun to watch! Your editing is on point too.
Really? His videos are educational and serious. I don't think he has sense of humor.
@@sonarsphereare you kidding us? 😆
Greg, Olga and I, after seeing the title and walking our dog, started debating all the ways you could "ride" (keeping it clean!) in Tokyo. I said "piggyback" wouldn't be covered, but we did think some kind of live animal would be featured--and maybe the the mechanical Panda was the best you could do in a day. We just love how you put your videos together!
I really should have thought about riding a pony. They have parks with ponies but I never thought of it for this trip.
thanks for taking the shinkansen *within* tokyo so we don't have to 🤣
1,000 yen that's quite a lot considering the alternatives
I guess if you're really in a rush and had to get there in 6 minutes, it's a good option
Akko-san from 25:28 onwards is speaking the language of my soul. 😂Tired & wants well-earned alcohol. 🍻
So fun, miss my time in Japan 😊 - thank you
Love it! The kids and I literally watch your videos to upload for a post dinner education time!
Thanks so much for all your content!
Great video Greg. I think your sister in law is a great addition, cheers.
Very interesting and fun. Like I am travelling around Tokyo without having to do the work. Thank you! 😁
I would love a small title to appear on the bottom when you are filming a site such as the temple around the 8 minute to 9 minute mark. These videos help serve as a possible guide to seeing sites in Tokyo.
Not a bad idea.
Nice video. I’m sure you could have added more like the ropeways and cable cars, but glad you got to show us the boats. Underrated!
Always loving the chill vibes of your videos, very informative and always makes me wanna go back to Japan as soon as possible.
Great content! Thank you for sharing your gift. Great to see.
The Tokyo Station is the architectural equivalent of a mullet - business in the front, history in the back 🤣 love the video, it's nice to explore through your lens!
History in the back! That’s the phrase I wanted to say. I couldn’t think of something better than old school.
Haha. Perfect 😂
Ok I’m only 4 minutes in but GREG! your Japanese is so awesome now! I remember when I first subscribed you didn’t speak really anything and you often commented on it. Anyways great video so far!
Having just come back from our first trip to Tokyo, (8 whole days!) the Yamanote line was our most frequently used train line, followed by the Asakusa line, seeing as we were only 5 minutes from both Tamachi and Mita stations. They were both so convenient and frequent but my legs were cursing all the stairs by the end of day 2 lol. We never used the bus ourselves, but we did use the metro, jr lines, yurikamome, and monorail as well as a lot of walking.
The public transport systems here in Ireland, where I consider a bus eireann bus being only 15 minutes late 'on time' (though they're often 20+ minutes late where I live) have nothing on Tokyo! I loved seeing all the places we went to in this video as well.
And I'm with your wife, I did not like the sound of some doors when they did the high pitched frequency thing as I passed by, it hurt my ears so much.
Got so excited when I saw this uploaded! I love travel, especially trains and trams. It's crazy the amount of ways to get around in Japan!
Utterly wonderful video. All your content is enjoyable and informative, but your travel based ones such as this or the cycling ones are by far my favourite. You really get a feel for the flow of life in the city, seeing people go about their daily lives, and the transportation options they use are such a huge part of it all that mostly goes unnoticed due to how seamlessly they integrate into the city infrastructure as a whole. Thanks for another great video Greg!
It was helpful to see all of these Tokyo transportation choices. Akko is a great sport, and I always enjoy seeing her in your videos!
forever and always my favorite type of video from you ! it’s always so uniquely personable, it feels like im wandering around with you guys :)
A wonderful video. I love transport and especially trains so really enjoyable. Tokyo is so well designed. Thank you.
Your videos are a treat. Thanks from the heart of England.
This was a fun and full of insight video to watch. Thank you!… also, love Akko’s ‘waiting for the beer part of the day’ comment 😅… she’s cute!
I like these jingles in stations and in trains. They should that more often in public transportation. Like soothing cool little tunes sound nice
Being waiting for another video like this since you posted Tokyo by Train video. So excited!
I love train, tram, monorail and I was in Tokyo for 2 weeks just a week ago. I've rode in the Sakura Tram before the pandemic so this time around i took a ride in the Setagaya Tram line. But the reason for my trip this time around was to ride the inverted monorail in Chiba & Enoshima which i did. Such a cool ride.
Akko is a really good sport she earnt the beer at the end.
I think he's cheating on his wife with her sister. idk maybe cheating is more acceptable in Japan. I just find it weird they're filming together just the 2 of them 🤔
@@afroemokid I dont think so
I feel the same.. they’re spending a lot of time together 😳
Love your videos! Thanks for even doing the touristy things! Things like that can be fun!
Great video. Thanks for taking me along on your wonderful tour of Tokyo.
the tramcar control system is so satisfying. Love how old school it is.
26:27 Dude, that's the Himiko cruise ship, designed by the manga artist Leiji Matsumoto. The design is pretty unique and cool. Heavy retro-futurism vibes.
Amazing showcase mate, I’m planning a return to Tokyo in May and bring a mate who doesn’t travel a lot but loves a good wander, this sort of video helps me get my head in the game. Keep ‘em coming
Always excited for your new videos. This one especially gave me so many good ideas for when I visit with my family. It will be their first time in Japan, now I have a great idea for a more scenic monorail route from Haneda airport. Thank you!!!
"I'm tired! I want to get to the beer drinking part." I hear that, Akko! 😅
Interesting and informative as always. Thank you for making these videos!
thank you for this beautiful video! 😍
YES!!! I've been obsessed with your "Tokyo by Train" video from 6 years ago, and now a new one!
Great Vlog !! It was Fun to watch. Very Informative Vlog For People Traveling For The First Time.
Another amazing video. Thanks again!
"I thought it would be fun"
How right you are. Thank you so much for this!
The expressway going directly over Nihonbashi conveniently puts the National 0 mile mark on both the national road and the expressway systems, I suppose.
The original Odaiba is a series of battery islands, built specifically to deter seaward naval attacks by European powers after Matthew Perry's party sailed right into Edo Bay. It failed its first invasion, Captain Perry's return a few year later.
But really, seeing Tokyo from the waterways completely changes the perspective. It's like you take in only the big picture, just from very low angle. And the reflections are just so gorgeous. So much so that Tokyo Lens got himself a boating license for it.
P.S. for those places where tripods aren't allowed, can you technically skirt that by having those suction cup camera holders and stick it to the windows, like those Connor used?
pps Oh hey, Keikyu trains, my favourite, inside Asakusa subway! Love it!
Great idea for a video! That was a lot of fun, and sneakily educational.
Great video on Tokyo transportation options.
Great filmmaking as always Greg. Filming people walking from behind gave a more immersive feel than normal for me personally, so I liked that touch!
I think you were harsh on the Rickshaw i think it's one of the coolest things in Tokyo. and people who operate them are always friendly.
He wasn't harsh at all, just objectively fair in his reviewer's opinion. And he mentioned that his carrier guide was nice.
Yeah I don't get it either. Riding a rikshaw is really chill and the operator will explain a few about the town etc. It's really cool in my opinion, much better than an open bus lol.
In another video about life in Japan, the maker remarked that some jobs in Japan are havens for extroverts. Perhaps pulling a rickshaw is like that. Of course, you would need to be physically fit as well.
It must be tough being a "people person" in metropolitan Japan.
Fantastic work as usual, thank you!
Aloha 🤙 from Honolulu!
Great video, Greg. One of the best you've done. Gave me alot of insight on what to do on my next trip and how to get around. Thanks 😊
Absolutely gorgeous footage as always!
I always enjoy your videos, but this one was just awesome! It's like going to Japan without leaving my computer chair! Great video!
can tell you put a lot of time and planning into this one. really cool video
This was fantastic! Thank you. What a long day it must have been.
Thank you for the trip, Greg! Seeing Shinagawa sure made me nostalgic. I rode from Kamata to Shinagawa thousands of times when I lived in Japan. That was almost 15 years ago now and it's fascinating to see a place both familiar and new - Tokyo changes at a bristling pace. When I go next I would like to try the water taxi - one mode I haven't tried!
I squealed when I saw the title of this video! this series is soooo good
A very interesting vlog. Thank you for sharing! Bravo!
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing this utter marathon
Very nice and informative video!
Your footage and editing is top notch!
Amazing video! Ako looks like such a fun person.
Akko and you work very well together! Thanks for sharing this, you must have been very tired by the end of the day! ;-))
thank you for your hard work. lovely content!
That was a brilliant video, so informative. Your sister-in-law was a great sport as you both were quite tired towards the end. The "beer drinking" part looked like great fun. Thank you so much. Cheers, Muffy from Oz ( Australia)
Excuse me, may I request a google translate of "Muffy from Oz" ...??🤔
I'm not an Aussie, I'm not familiar with all of the colloquial down under slang.
Perfect lighting so good
Nice ideo for a video. The different way of transportation are nice.
You make tokyo look so beautiful
アッコさん、今回はお疲れでしたね!でも最後に笑顔が見れて嬉しかった〜アッコさんにはお酒が効くんですね😂
Really great video. We were there 4 years ago and intend to go back.
17:50 - clearly nobody was expecting anybody to get off at Shinagawa :)
Yeah! For a bit I was wondering why the passengers waiting to get on were in our way!
All your footage is absolutely stunning as always. But those night shots especially were just pure magic. I will admit watching you guys ride around everywhere made me a little tired after riding around Japan myself. 😅
This is in my top five of all your videos
still can't wrap my head around Tokyo's endlessness, it's mindboggling
It's the kind of videos I probably wouldn't look for but im glad youtube recoomended them
Had to laugh when Akko was like "forget look golden - I'm tired" :)
Akko is a rockstar.
Greg, your sister in law seems to be someone who has plenty of time on her hands.. But accolades to her for contributing to your videos! Your videos with her are so much more entertaining 👌🏼. Keep up the good work!
I thought in a previous video he said he hired her. It would be an insult to her effort and her talent otherwise.
She has a young daughter and husband- so I don’t think she has a lot of “free time “
Excellent video. I LOVE IT💓
Thank you, Greg for making this video
Thanks for the video, and the information, loved it :)
What a delightful video!
Awesome video!
This was a REALLY FUN video!!! (most of your videos are, but this was really fun) Getting to see places around the city I wouldn't normally see in most videos, and we even got to ride AN ESCALATOR!!!! lol
What a GREAT, ORIGINAL VIDEO IDEA!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE FUN!!!! (oh, I wish you would have pointed out the Golden Poo tho LOL)
That was an epic adventure! Thanks!
Love this video, half because of the great trip and half because it’s great to see that people in Japan are good enough to wear masks and take care of each other in this small way.
