It's simple. Trump is a vessel the taxpaying, law abiding middle class can use to fight back against the movement to subjugate them into impotence and poverty. Kennedy is another, possibly a better one than trump. But the dependent people fear losing their government assistance and many retirees believe the lie that republicans will sunset SS and medicare leaving them destitute. Dependent people find change to be frightening; they do not have much, but they do not want to risk losing what they have.

Totally agree with you on the need for tort reform. I have personally experienced the way sick people are bankrupting innocent citizens through frivolous lawsuits because they know you are better off settling out of court for 500k rather than battle it out with super expensive lawyer's fees. In my case the plaintiff was an Iranian immigrant and I know he has shaken down lots of other people using his brother who was a totally incompetent lawyer. The legal system was designed back when men guarded their integrity with their life, and they could not imagine how broken the system would become under the completely corrupt people we have running it today. You talk about the British system and the need to empower lawyers to throw out these kinds of law suits. But surely we already have a system for that otherwise how did those judges throw out all of Trump's election fraud cases? There's the rub. If the court is corrupted in favor of a powerful defendant and start throwing out legitimate cases, then we have the opposite problem. So that probably also needs oversight somehow...
