I've just stumbled upon these gems. I've been binging all evening. I watched these programmes as the went out in the 70s and they were great. It's interesting how times have changed and not for the better. Well done for posting them, I have a long way to go.
Absolutely sterling performanves by the barristers. The defence lady using every theatrical trick sowing deeds of doubt of the charges on the accused and the prosecution being delightfully sinister and authorative. Ricky Tomlinson is a delight to see. Good job the defendant was not asked about a certain supermarket in Peckham! :) MILLION thanks Jez T.
I think taking hostages + firearms + conspiracy + attempting to steal the takings would have made for an interesting case. Fortunately Del Boy ensured moral justice saw the light of day.
And she was in operational control of all activities of the Rebel Alliance just a few months later. Many Bothams died securing the plans to destroy the Australians in 1985 - or something like that.
As others have remarked Vas Blackwood is always worth watching. I see Caroline Blakiston was 49 when this was made; gorgeous. I love the way she talks to witnesses, like a Duchess talking down to an errant servant girl.
Completely agree. The exchange between her and Anton Lesser (the teacher John Peat) was electrifying. Caroline Blakiston and Richard Wilson (appearing in other uploads) are my favourite CC actors. 👍
This case has reminded me. Could anyone please identify a TV drama (or Play for Today?) from circa 1978? A 30-something bloke with a moustache gets beaten up by a gang after he asks them to turn their music down. The leader may have been played by Ziggy Byfield - or a similar actor. The victim, staying with friends, runs into the gang bloke's girlfriend, and they start a strange romance. He expresses love for her when she's in the bath. She shouts "Whoo-hooo!" and playfully throws a sponge at him. It all goes wrong when Mr Moustache hears the gang in a pub - something his girlfriend has told her ex enrages the older bloke. At that point, my grandfather came into the room and said: "What a squalid, unpleasant story!" Which it was, but I'd love to see it again.😂
I don't think the teacher got beaten up at all. He was in a crowded place where pushing and shoving occurred. He probably fell over and was trampled, not fatally, but badly enough to sustain injuries. The kid wasn't a model pupil, but he wasn't habitually violent. The Deputy Head's word there would've carried some clout (no pun).
He was positively identified for the following reasons: In a parade of ten people, four were white, three were women and the other two, one was Chinese and the other Pakistani and then there was him!
Considering the various fictional parts he played after two year in prison in real life (intimidation) as well as his varied political views, he can easily be referred to as a 'colourful chap;.
Surprisingly one-dimensional offering from a series which usually featured quite complex cases. I wonder if this would have been tried at a lower court in reality. Common assault, surely?
Another "Not Guilty" verdict in a case where the accused was clearly guilty. Not even one juror voted for Not Guilty - unbelievable I saw the actor playing the victim in an episode of Midsomer Murders just yesterday. The episode about the illegal trade in rare bird eggs.
You mean not one voted guilty as it was the verdict of all. Actually for the time i am pleasantly surprised that there wasnt a racial element. That the teacher didnt immediately ID him to the police did weaken the case
That's one of the interesting things about Crown Court, the verdict is never certain. They achieve that uncertainty by enrolling members of the public to act as jury. The verdicts are so unpredictable that no scriptwriter could have contrived them. It really emphasises how differently we all see things - and to realise just how similar a real-life jury could be.
That's the sort of person who gives teaching a bad name. It was probably the police that hit him, by mistake, he probably had a scheme dreamed up for compensaton and thus being able to leave teaching,
Another great episode of this program. Thank you for uploading these episode's. There is much to learn from watching these. PC. 07. 04. 2023.

Interestingly, this actress’s grandfather was a barrister and it makes me wonder whether this influenced her excellent performance.
This is a great episode..
I'm very surprised Sergeant Henderson forgot to bring Spit the Dog with him.
😂
I was just thinking the Same thing ☺️😁
Thanks Jez, by the way.
My pleasure :)
Anton Lesser was in a very good though depressing play called 'Good and bad at games.'
I'm going to check that out. Many thanks!
Great acting I love Crown Court.
Fantastic, what a great episode, love that lawyer lady, she is awesome
Thanks again Jez T, well done on another beaut upload:)
No worries, ESE. :) Unfortunately, my being back at work has meant the number of uploads has slowed down somewhat. More to come soon, though. :)
I totally agree! This was a fantastic episode, one of the best I've seen! Thanks Jez T for uploading this for us :)
And she was in operational control of all activities of the Rebel Alliance just a few months later. Many Bothams died securing the plans to destroy the Australians in 1985 - or something like that.
Laughed out loud at work when I read this! If she can take down a bad school teacher the Empire stood no chance
Caroline Blakiston makes a formidable opponent in her role as a barrister
Nobody has mentioned Alrick Riley here - He went on to have huge success in the UK and USA acting and directing.
Anton Lesser as the teacher! (Qyburn from Game of Thrones, Endeavour)
I hadn't tnoiced until you mentioned it. He was in Wolf Hall as well.

She was descended from the 6th Duke of Bedford

Could only see the accused as The Shadow in Only Fools and Horses. Lol

Nice to see Bob Carolgees in a serious role for a change.
No, you're joking, you're having me on. That's not him....... Is it?
Yeah he was a Police Dog Handler.
Thanks for sharing awesome
Brilliant acting , Vaz Blackwood , was in only fools episode , Top acting , Anton Lesser, a classic actor , and yes Ricky Tomlinson superb .
Anton lesser yes. I knew the voice and knew some one here would too.
They nearly always end up with a "not guilty" verdict. I think that shows the quality of the writing, that it wasn't a cut-and-dried offence
Yes thanks jez..
He was positively identified for the following reasons:
In a parade of ten people, four were white, three were women and the other two, one was Chinese and the other Pakistani and then there was him!
Was that Ricky Tomlinson there?
He of the The Royle Family, yes, the very same! He should have been credited as "Clerk of the Court - my @rse". :)
Quite so Jez, quite so.
Considering the various fictional parts he played after two year in prison in real life (intimidation) as well as his varied political views, he can easily be referred to as a 'colourful chap;.
Tim Carrington I first saw him in Brookside.
Surprisingly one-dimensional offering from a series which usually featured quite complex cases. I wonder if this would have been tried at a lower court in reality. Common assault, surely?
wounding?
Ricky Tomlinson just doesn’t cut in a role of this nature.
It's shaaa ad dow in the dock lol ( Only Fools and Horses fans will know which character I mean) 😄
Bloody watch!
They seek him here, they seek him there...
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Ricky Tomlinson!!!! AND the defendant was the lad in Fools + Horses who took Del, Rodney+ Albert hostage in supermarket 'robbery'🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sh-a-dow 😂
Thanks jezz.
The Judge TOLD them to acquit.
Lock stock and two smoking barrels
His name is Vaz.
If the milk tastes sour I ain't the kind of pussy to drink it 😂
Vas Blackwood of In Sickness And In Health and the film Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Bobby Grant.in brookside.and royal family.
Not guilty? My arse!
Vas Blackwood in Crown Court.
In every case there is doubt so the vast majority end with an acquittal.
Definitely not guilty, but how did the teacher sustain his injuries? I can only think he fell in the melee and grazed his face on something

@@vanpallandt5799 Yes, I meant, "Not one GUILTY VERDICT"
