- For centuries, "chainaki" has been the ultimate comfort food for Afghans during harsh winters and, in recent decades, a culinary escape to simpler, happier times amid violence.
There is a specific method to having the "chainaki", a wholesome meat soup made in a teapot, called “chainak” in the Afghan language of Dari.
First, you take the giant naan that comes with every serving and break it into tiny pieces; fill your bowl with as many as you like. Then, you open your teapot filled with a deep red-orange lamb soup made with tomatoes, onions, fat, and spices, cooked over a slow fire, and pour it over the bread.

As a Westerner, this is definitely one of the more eye-opening videos I've seen on Afghanistan. We hear so many negative things about the country in the media, thank you for helping to think about Afghanistan in a more reasoned and informed manner. After all the hardship and turmoil over the past decades, It does look like the nation is trying to turn the corner toward a more peaceful and prosperous future. I wish the Afghan people all the best in their future endeavors.
Afghanistan is a nice counibut only for men, it's like a hell for women, they can't go outside. They can't do anything what they want.

As an Afghan myself, I went with my grandfather to one of the Bazaar in Afghanistan, and it was my first time when I had the Chainakki. He was a track driver and he said all the drivers would come and eat the Chainakki during their stay.
Wow , hats off to the driver , he’s so kind ,honest and very respectful , showing hospitality , offered food (kebab) , helping people who are in need . Love ur videos , very interesting , as I did not have that opportunity in the time of the old government.
Chainakie is one of the most delecious meals of Afghanistan that you can't find any where else in the world. Well, they have it in Iran as dezi, but it can't beat our chainakie.
