- This is part 2 of our Cape York trip. Where we take the van as far north as we can. We visit Thursday Island, check out some WWII plane wrecks, and visit Pajinka (The Tip). We visit the mining town of Weipa on the way back and give the van a good scrub.
We also review the trip and share what it was like spending 6 weeks on The Cape York Peninsula in a 23' caravan
Just watched this and enjoyed your trip to Thursday Island. My father was based up there during WW 2 and that is where he met my mum who was born on the island.
My husband and I have been enjoying watching your travels 🙂
Thanks for sharing that, it’s nice to make connections with places like that. And thanks for joining our travels 😉
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Just beautiful! The falls & you did a good job through the old tracks. How cooling & relaxing. The places you stayed & the tours you took were really worth the money. Filming has given you many memories to watch later on in life. Wishing you safe travels Elaine from Brisbane.
Thanks again Elaine. The Cape has been our favourite destination so far. We do sit and rewatch these ones. We are so glad you enjoyed the video
Cheers Paul and Wenda

Excellent videos on the Cape, 9 days until we go.
Thanks Bruce. It was an awesome experience, one we’ll never forget. The anticipation and planning all adds to the adventure. Safe travels!
Talk about living the dream Cape York can't wait to get up there in 2024 thanks for this video is probably one of the best ones you've done watched from beginning to end non-stop thanks once again for sharing and good luck on your travels back home one day but not too soon.👍
Thanks Ed, appreciate the feedback. You'll love it up here, we have so much to choose from here in Australia, how lucky are we?

Thanks Connie so glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the informative videos, my wife and I are getting a new caravan early next year and hope to do a trip to the Cape, watching your videos gives us a bit of an idea of where to stay and visit and an approx cost for the trip. Ray
Thanks Ray, glad it helps. Cheers Paul & Wenda
Great trip and video guys we’re gonna do the same track this year in July , Great info thanks
Thanks, it was a great adventure we'd highly recommend it 👍
G,day Horto how’d your trip go?
@@beyondthegreyoz Thanks for the reply great trip can’t wait to do it again never had a problem took our new Jayco Crosstrak track as well never missed a beat highly recommend it 👍👍🎣🎣
Thanks for the videos - awesome. I am travelling from Sydney to cape with a semi Offroad van in July 23 - based on your experience where would be the best place to store the van before the rough stuff starts?
Good question but tough to answer as the condition varies throughout the season and depends if it has been graded recently. It's probably best to ask at places along the way for current condition. There are 3 or 4 places that you could leave your van. 1 Hann River Roadhouse, 2 Archer River, 3 Morton Telegraph Station and 4 Bramwell Station. A lot of people left their vans at Bramwell so they could freely do the OTT and because they had enough of the corrugations.
Hope that was helpful
Cheers
well done ! congrats
Would you guys consider buying a celfi to boost your reception in limited areas ?
Thank you!
We have a celfi but found that it doesn't boost data download very much. It is great for mobile phone reception. We have recently bought a product called XPOL which is a high gain panel antenna. Only tested it once, so far, and it seems to do a reasonable job. We actually met someone in Seisia who had one and he said it was good. We hope to do a video on our phone & internet challenges and solutions very soon.
@@beyondthegreyoz interesting . sounds good thanks.
That set of traffic lights would of been for the haul road trucks, there would of been cameras somewhere there too.
Yeah we figured that would be the reason. Being so remote it was an experience in itself
Did they repair or replace the fridge, was it warranty, paid… How Much 😮
@@keithwhittaker8741 fortunately the fridge was repaired under warranty 👍
Did you have any problems with your bike carrier on the rough tracks? What sort of carrier did you use and what towns did you get them out for a ride? We have push bikes but have never taken them away with us.
We had no problem at all with the bike carrier. It is a Grip Sport 2 bike carrier. We didn't get them off the van except in Cooktown at the start. There were places we could've got them down but just never got round to it
Great video, we're heading up in July this year, what month were you up there. Cheers Shane
Thanks Shane, we were there in October which is toward the end of the season. It is an awesome area to explore and there is so much more to see! Hope you enjoy your trip and safe travels!
@@beyondthegreyoz Thanks, we're going up in July. Cheers
G,day Shane how’d your trip go?
How do we add you thanks
Hi Michael, thank you. Do you mean Subscribe to out channel? There should be a subscribe button just beneath the thumbnail on the right

Good informative video. Enjoyed it but the town Seisia is pronounced “Saysha”.
Thanks Jeannie and thanks for watching. Haha, I think we had several attempts at the pronunciation
Love the videos from an older perspective however could you please improve your microphones? So difficult to hear most things it’s a real turn off… sorry
Thank you we appreciate the feedback 👍Sound is one aspect of our videos we seem to struggle with. We'll keep working on it 😉
Cheers Paul & Wenda
