I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price of the HDB flat! And the COE for cars is also ridiculous. I am now in the US with my family, the house is not expensive, we own a car that cost us about $3,000 SGD. But of course there are pros and cons in any country.
I am from New Zealand and I think the HDB flats are so cheap! Our house is 4 bedrooms, 5 years old and in a small city, here if we were to sell it now, it would sell for $1,000,000! If you want a 5 room apartment like the HDB flat in Auckland then it would cost at least $2,000,000. The value of the dollar is about the same in Singapore and New Zealand so it’s as expensive as it looks. $500,000 for a 5 room apartment sounds so cheap!
I just got my work salary this morning and i bought a shirt and a pair of jeans from uniqlo to treat myself. After i watched this video, i went back to the same outlet and asked for a refund. Thanks TSL for making me realise how expensive it is to live in Singapore
So apt that the old double decker bus are in white and red is a representation of the colors of Singapore flag. I love this series so much. Much shoutouts to the team for this series! 😎
I really enjoy this series so much! I loveee seeing them interacting with their grandparents :) so heartwarming and cute! ❤ fikah is as usual sooooo funny haha.
my dad who was born in post war singapore 1948. he used to tell me when he and his brother were hungry . $1 can feed them both . $0.60 is liek the size of the $5 size in present time
the "jiang" is frequently used as one word, especially in shows/entertainment/things of this nature. this isnt LHZB. actually watch stuff and you would know this... smh
@@shucklesors i think i know the word itself and the way we use in Singapore. So I am suggesting to use a 2 word to replace it or as overseas will do is to use the word酱. Yup
haha i love all the ah ma that is on the show of far man love them. one more thing Fikah like not living in this era siaz she tried to hint her ah ma to go higher but her hint also very off🤣🤣🤣
5-room flat way don’t necessarily cost at least 520K, those are usually at mature estate. There is a big difference in price in mature vs non-mature estate.
Yah, it's getting harder and harder for the younger generation to own properties these days. I do have to say that even with proper financial planning, you still can't beat fast inflation. It's good that our government return us a little of every tax-payer money but it's not enough to cover much of average minimal spending.
theyre not "returning" you taxpayer money. theyre giving you the tax that is paid by the upper bracket. you can easily find statistics on just how imbalanced the tax funding proportion is. for example, the upper two deciles pay more than $4 per $1 of tax benefit they receive.
My takeaway from this video is Singapore is cheap lol. Compared to New Zealand everything seems so cheap. Except the car COE, that is cheaper in New Zealand. But here like the food and the apartment all cost double the price.
Love the content but would like to make a suggestion to double check the subtitles first before posting. There's so many mistakes with the Chinese subtitles, feels very unprofessional..
It depends where you are talking about. Not in New Zealand. In New Zealand that would cost you $900,000 just in a small city. For $520,000 you would have to live in the middle of nowhere! To live in Auckland a house like that would cost probably at least $1,500,000.
More videos like these please! It’s such a great connection between the talents and their grandparents, as well as learning about the past 👏🏼

Fikah looks so much like her grandmother..
would be good to add the past prices adjusted for inflation too so that we get a more accurate representation!
Fun fact: McDonald's only became halal in Singapore in 1992!
Anyhoo really love this series! Thank you TSL for the amazing content :)

Yes! The previous episode was produced by Alison and Rainer!
All of them so naive at the COE question 🤣🤣🤣

Hi, I think there is a few typo for your chinese subtitle on the Cheeseburger part. 賣買. 賣 is sell 買 is buy. So may have to amend abit.
Jiang多 这样多 不是将多
冲 become 纯 hahaha

My takeaway from this video is it's expensive in SG. Dunno how people would be able to afford a house there.

wah i cringed soooo hard at the producer's chinese at 6:22 wtf
pay is kinda stagnant.
Feeka longkang stop it eh..
It become annoying when the younger gen team guess the price too ridiculously low.
Maybe you all should get someone who is good in chinese to settle the subtitles. Too many mistakes.
