Sodium being open source automatically makes it have a huge advantage over OptiFine. Not only because you can inspect the code to ensure nothing malicious is being inserted, but also because the community can contribute to the mod and build upon it.
I have a feeling we're in a sort of transitionary period when it comes to Minecraft modding, where the old ways are slowly fading into obscurity while new methods are spearheading a new era. Forge to Fabric, Curseforge to Modrinth, Optifine to Sodium, etc
I hope it takes over because being a "one place for all needs" that is easy and (at least thus far) reliable goes a long way. Legit the only two issues I potentially have are absolutely unreasonable to fix, so no actual complains from me.
It's just better lol just like sodium. Takes a smaller cut from ads and gives 90% to creators, is more organized with changelog etc, is arguably better looking and has a great launcher. Plus curseforge has been hacked before (last time was pretty recent and it basically infected a lot of mods with malware). There are probably a lot more reasons for this tho
Vanilla Minecraft's performance is a lot better in 1.21 than it was in 1.19. However yeah sodium is still good. Im just suprised how smooth vanilla 1.21 runs
Same with lunar client for me, just normal fabric with sodium I get stutters, it’s like if I cap it at 240 it’ll drop to 230 or something but feel like it’s dropping to 40 but lunar is smooth
glad to see young creators trying out video concepts from other people.... bad if they copy the structure of those videos and the content aswell. A wise man once said, if you have nothing new to say, don´t talk.
Well, there is already a mod that replaces the entire openGL with Vulkan. The reason it is not as popular tho is that it requires mods made for it, since it completely swaps out how the game renders rather than just rebuilding it optimized. I think the next step would be to have multiple options that one could toggle ingame and have mods that only work on one of them automatically turn off if the other one is selected. Idk how feasable that is however, it would most likely require a big change to the way stuff is implemented in the game.
@@lpfan4491 Vulcan mod is unlikely to become popular as its incompatible with any mod that renders anything to the screen AKA every mod in existence pretty much.

Well, if sodium is the cooler optifine, then, what will come next? Welp, no wonder it became so popular, even some Forge packs have it.
