I haven't the need to justify the price, however back in 1988 I opened a Communications Shop where I sold and repaired all types of Tx.& Rec. and more. I bought a Fluke AC/DC/Volt/Ohm/amp meter needed at that time. I still have that meter today and it still works as it did the day I bought it.
It is so tragic that this model has been discontinued without a replacement thats not less than 2x the price of this one. It was finally time for me to purchase a 345, and I ended up getting an AEMC 607 instead. Tragic. I am officially off the Fluke boat.
Great video! "Soft-start" is importantly to ease the MECHANICAL load/unload on motors/gear-drives. To lessen power/current spikes, most large industries install on-site devices (PF capacitors, etc.) in their utilities bldg.
The meter is very limited due to the internal memory size. One wants to log for at least 24h every second, instead of an 10 second average for 17h. Bound to miss the rush-in/surge your looking for according to Murphy. At this price one would expect a microSD card as in new 43x series. Hope the software makes up for this i.e. generating fail/pass reports.
I need some advice on the right testing tools to use for a couple of projects, one would be charging the Power output of a dc battery charger over a day or so. Ideally it would be able to do dc inrush too but maybe I’m looking at two different devices for all of that. Can you suggest equipment and a forum/website where I can post and get some advice from more knowledgeable people than myself?
Adam R Noted...my later version of Sony Vegas for some reason does not seem to have that...my previous version did. I'll do some digging to see if I can resolve.
my neighbor had the electric company using a big clamp meter on his power line going to his meter. are they trying to see if the meter is the same as the smart meter
hey fluke is great stuff, however, if you have to ask the price of a fluke then, you should change brands...:/ in 2021 there are more price ranges to choose from. thanks...:)
Very advanced clamp meter for its time but also extremely dated after today's standards, but we are also more than a decade later. even very cheap clamp meters from China, will outshine these older Fluke 345 clamp meters today.. Hmm nahh that did not happen at all.. literally nothing exist on the market today, that is just close to these clamp meters from Fluke A shame, always had a soft spot for the Fluke 345 but way out of bounce pricewise for my relative need. Would love to see some Chinese options inspired by Fluke 345, even if they only deliver a fraction of the features.

You are an excellent teacher to explain any hard nut crackers in an essence of nut shells.
What an excellent explanation of how industry manages power demands. Thank you!
Thank you so much for such detailed and informative video. Trying to find a clamp meter that can give me accurate THD reading. Thanks for the help.

Great video. I wish this meter were more affordable.

My fluke 345 power clamp meter is not turning on. What is the cause?
Excellent video, as aways your review is perfect, thanks a lot!
Great explanation about power quality. Thank you!
Gabriel Torelli My pleasure Gabriel, thanks for the post. I hope to follow-up with a more detailed video on that topic soon.

i really want one but can't afford it.
Don't like the built-in clamp. Awkward & heavy.
jpalm32 Yup...certainly one of my concerns.
When you use a multimeter with a current clamp accessory can you measure inrush? I’ve never seen a DMM with an Inrush function
He turns it on on 9:42 no thanks needed)
