I am doing the same thing on my 1959 chest. That carbide scraper didn't damage the veneer at all? I ve not refinished anything with a veneer so it skeeeers me! lol. And I'm a disaster with wood putty. You used snap veneer to fill in that chip? Where would I find such a thing?
