Kovche was riding a Cinelli Laser, Hesslich was riding an East German built track frame called Textima.

Watching old sprinting videos is crazy with the small gearings. Funny how they've gotten massive the past few years
Somebody just loaded the first ride, 71avals. The title is in Russian but the date is 1988. Yes, a great move by Hesslich with 500 meters to go.

Ковш несомненно сильный гонщик, в этом нет сомнений. В спринте кроме физической подготовки, надо обладать хитростью, и тактические качества.

I always find it so dumb when they go so slow at times I know why they do it but it is a race. Just race. Stupid the guy with the disc should have won. This is not racing.
