love this jacket, but its only downfall is the colour, if you are moving its great, but stationary in heat of the summer sun its unpleasant, so much so that I bought a Weise Scout mesh jacket in colour stone, this is very very light grey, its still AA rated but the back protector is only level 1 and much smaller,( same size as oxfords L2 back protector) the shoulders and elbows are L2 so no complaints there. It does not feel as premium as the Knox but at half the price including the back protector upgrade its a good alternative for the really scorching days. Since its currently mid winter here and around freezing I have not had the opportunity to try it yet. if Knox had one in all silver or any other sun reflective colour I would have paid out for that instead.

That’s a great point i’ll have to look into the Weise Scout. There are definitely times I wish I wasn’t wearing black in the middle of summer!

I purchased this jacket last year. It's the most insane, versatile, and great motorcycle jacket for daily wear ever! For off-road, I put my Mosko Moto Surveyor jacket over it, and I'm set. For the street, I use the Klim Marrakesh jacket and I'm off to riding. If it's super hot, I can wear it alone!

There is Pendo Moto gear as well. And it's actually better, so've been told.

I’ve heard good things about them as well. I looked into a couple of their jackets but none of them came with level 2 armor or a back protector which ultimately was the deciding factor for me. Specifically the Commando UH, looked really nice but ~$450 for level 1 and no back protector is kind of crazy. Turns the jacket into $550+ once you add new armor. But one thing it did have was AAA abrasion resistance which I really liked👌🏻

KNOX Urbane Pro 3 great, I use mine by itself in summer and under a hardshell ski jacket down to just above zero in winter. Very versatile and very breathable, prob. the most breathable jacket that I know of.

@@geoffbroderick403 Definitely noticed the collar also. That’s something I forgot to mention in the review, thanks for reminding me. Taking bugs to the neck at speed is never fun.

I purchased the Knox Urbane Pro Mk3 in July 2023. I’m a weekend warrior and I’ve put less than 40 hours of use on my jacket when the cuffs began to fray. I wrote the company directly as well as sending photos, to which they responded , that the frayed cuffs were a result of repeated abrasion from gloves, or likely wear from the Velcro closure on gloves. They said that they would not replace the jacket or refund my money. I was disappointed to say the least, particularly when “abrasion resistance“ is the company’s advertisement lead. Clearly, the material used at the cuffs is flimsy at best, and inconsistent with the durability of the rest of the jacket. I pride myself on taking meticulous care of my equipment, and for the company to suggest that the use of gloves on a motorcycle jacket caused this premature wear and damage is ridiculous and outrageous. These companies have a captive audience as well as regulatory capture to inflate their prices, and to advertise an abrasion resistant armored shirt that is now literally falling apart at the seams after less than 40 hours of use is shameful.

I understand how this can happen. I normally wear a full gauntlet glove with this jacket so normally do not have an issue with the velcro on the cuff, but on the more rare occasions where I do wear my short cuff gloves I have observed what you are talking about. It doesn’t affect me much personally due to how often i wear the short cuff gloves but i can imagine the frustration with consistent use and seeing the material get more and more fuzzy. I am surprised they responded that way and didn’t offer some form of compensation, even if it was a discount code for the future. Seems like a design flaw that maybe they can improve on with the MKIV version? Thanks for the comment, definitely a good point that people should be aware of.
