On the Day of the Dead, the Chamber Orchestra of Wroclaw played this marvellous piece in Querétaro, Mexico, I´m still hypnotised and in complete trance. Cheers Mateusz.
warhols... poland is great apart from economy which sux. wages 4 times lower than in the uk. but the nature, the woods... it`s kilar`s music which expresses it fully.dark woods, swamps and hot summers. must experience it to unerstand it. i live in the uk these days but dream about my country al the times. the smell, the beauty... love poland
R.I.P 29.12.2013 Wojciech Kilar, a Polish pianist and composer of classical music and scores for many films, including Roman Polanski's Oscar-winning "The Pianist" and Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula," died Sunday. He was 81. The composer died in his hometown of Katowice.
Upon hearing the music of Kilar, Penderecki, Szymanowski, Lutoslawski and Chopin I feel proud to be Polish. But upon watching the news for a few minutes, my admiration for Poland immediately winds up with me writhing in pain at having to live through all these low creatures grinning at me with their pockets full of lies and promises never to be kept. I wonder if it's just me or is it a more general sentiment...
la bonne surprise musicale : "Orawa" pour Orchestre à cordes de Wojciech KILAR - les 2 premières minutes sont un peu longues, mais la suite est franchement très sympa.
@jmsuijkerbuijk Because back in those days I was in a orchestra which was connected with my music education (secondary music school). So actually there were no debates concerning that particular matter.
So f...in' good, I love it. Even as a modern electro house music lover I still find it sooooo goood, after so many years it's one of my favorite tracks (Rite of Spring is my no 1)... I've got couple of Orawa's versions, pls check the one conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal, it's sooo amazing!!! -Dj The End
You recalled the Rite of Spring. I listened to it and now I know what inspired John Williams on the "Jaws"' score. And that's just one mentionable moment of the composition. Thanks!
wow this was played ridiculously well, a percussion ensamble that i am in is putting together this piece with marimbas, and xylophones, it won't hold the same ferver as with strings but it will sound great.
Interesting reference to politics beside The Music. All in all it's a different world, not even slightly resembling reality. Therefore we can not mix them. Maybe that's the reason for such a ramification of polish metality? Pozdrawiam :)
Hmm, I think you've got it all wrong :). Orawa is the part of Poland and Czech Republic - many gypsies live there - they have a rich folklore, for example - music. In this piece you heare their traditional articulation, riffs etc. Besides - notice the ending shout "Hey!" - isn't it obvious? :) Cheers!
I read that the subject of this was to represent the... life in the wilderness, something like it, like the harmony of nature... but weird, doesn't sound to be like that
And I didn't realize that the closer was also the latter half of the original! That's what I get for posting before hearing the whole piece! The only visual thing that ruins any part of the show for me is the moving block after the "VANGUARD:" and long chords....my GOD that was dirty! A little trivia..next time you watch the vid, look behind the right end of the snares on the very last notes of the show....you see one of the tenor's gauntlets come off and fly up into view!
@jmsuijkerbuijk I just got the score and u are not right. It's written for 5-4-3-2-1, but he says, that when u use more musicians, then the bars 1-126, 151-178, 241-276 should stay solo. So it possible to do it with more people.
lol goodluck with that one. my band is doing have you got it in you at 164 BPM and me and mehh pit buddehs have to do a 8th/16th note run for like tne measures @_@
Dzisiaj na koncercie po raz pierwszy usłyszałam ten utwór i... urzekł mnie w 100%.
This is my favourite performance of Kilar's Orawa on RUclips. Natural. Strict but still with personal allures and it's flowing - by imaginations.
I love this song, I heard it on a concert, and I've searched for it the last 5 months.
Thax for posting it.
My high school orchestra performed this 2 years ago for the TMEA Honor Orchestra. Ahh...this piece brings back pleasant memories

I'm playing this piece in the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra in Maryland. Awesome piece!
My little brother's intermediate school is playing this song for his school's TMEA Honor orchestra concert!
Komentarze pokazują, że Kilara słuchają na całym świecie... i kochają... muzyka jest bardziej efektywna niż esperanto...
Me too!! I love this piece. I can't wait to play it at Carnegie Hall!!

yes there is. a radio orchestra (don't remember the city) recorded Exodus, Orawa, Victoria and Krzesany.
It's from "Requiem Father Kolbe". You can now find it on iTunes.
