@@DJNicoleOterohi!, so my situation is this… I currently have an external hard drive with all my crates there (I always use external hard drives to DJ) and I’ve been djing for 18 years … but, I just bought another external hard drive with music and crates already created by that company that was selling it… my question is… can I just drag everything! Including the Serato folder into my external hard drive from the external hard drive I just bought and would that not only copy all the music and Serato folders into my existing external hd… but will it also read those crates created by that company and my crates together once I open Serato only from external hd? … I only want to carry one external hd not 2 … but I wonder how it should be done… to be able to transfer everything from the other hard drive and be able to read crates from both external hd transferred data but coming only from one external hd
Questions? But, first off thanks for the detailed help! 1. I noticed you didn't drag you're _serato_ back up file but then when you added the new _serato_ file to the new laptop, there was a _serato_ back up in the hard drive. Did you add that later from your laptop or was it created automatically by the hard drive? 2. If I don't want to add my music folder to the new laptop and just want to work my music off of the hard drive, how do I make Serato play music from the hard drive since I didn't add it to the laptop? Thanks again!
Never carry an external hard drive to DJ because anything can happen and you dont want to take the chance. Spend the extra money and get a laptop with a big hard drive that can store all your music and more. Use your external as a back up just in cash your computer crash or fall etc.
1. The Serato Back up folder is automatically created when you download serato and load music into it. So no, I did not transfer that backup up folder from one computer to the other. 2. When playing off your hadrive, your crates should automatically show up in Seato when your hardrive is connected. You should have your music in one folder on your hadrive and then Serato should be able to read the music and the crates. This is a great question and I'm going to make a video showing how to do this. Thanks for the idea!
Hello, great video, but I have a question. When I put in search on my old laptop. I don't see a Serato Music folder. I only see the actual serato app. Do I need to create a folder first or can I transfer the app onto the hardrive and proceed from there?
I like to ask a question to Nicole yes on serato dj pro there is a crate call ALL MUSIC' what's happening is that every time you start the program starts scanning for music on is own, thank you for your help.
I didn’t have to analyze my files. But you may have to hit “analyze ID tags” and after your music files turn yellow, hit “relocate files”. I show you this around 6 minutes of the video.
I am currently trying to copy everything that is stored on my main external drive to a back up external. The problem I’m having is the back up drive always shows up with missing files. When I scan them, then my main SSD external is missing.
Hi Nicole. I am currently running serato on a PC laptop with all my music on the internal hard drive. I bought a new macbook pro, and would like to move the music, but I want to move the music to an external hard drive. So at the end of the day, I just want to run serato on my new mac using an external hard drive. I don't want to try anything yet until I understand the formatting options for the external drive and where to put the folders. Can you help?
What do I do if i dont have a "serato music" file? I have one that says _serato_ and that includes the autoimport, database v2, some other stuff and the subcrates, but I dont have a Serato Music folder to just drag to my harddrive.
I dragged my serato folder from program files plus the serato backup from my music library Which one do I have to rename in order to get my crates to work in the new computer
So when I drag that serato folder from my program files on to my external hard drive and then copy the folder on to my new computer Will I still have to download and install serato again or is the whole serato program going over
Thank you so much for this. You rock.. once you copy the crates via Serato underscore, Do you have to drag the music folder into the relocate lost files? How does it know to find the tracks on new computer? Thanks again
No. You were supposed to drag your music from whatever folder you had it in originally, and put it in the exact same folder in the new computer. “Relocate files” is just so Serato could read the tags in your music so it designated those crates you had them in.
@@DJNicoleOtero thank you so much. I appreciate your help. What about if I want to add new songs from external drive to internal drive? what are the steps? I thank you so much.. So much information and Facebook and your stuff seems to be the clearest.
@@DJNicoleOtero thank you again. I think I explained it incorrectly. I am trying to update Serato with new music triage Oakley I’m not sure what the processes do I add the music to the main folder in my case music on the internal drive. What do I do after that? How do I get each song into Serato? Thank you
What if you want serato to read music only from your external hard drive? That’s where I store my music. That’s too much music on the computers hard drive for me
What if your music is scattered all over the place like in different folders on the latop and then download folders just because he never had the time to centralize them? Also, do you provide consulting?
I would centralize all of the music to one folder. Make sure Serato DJ Pro finds all of the files within the software on your current computer before transferring your music and playlists to the other folder. I do offer consulting. Feel free to DM me on instagram to discuss. My profile is in my bio.
Hey Nicole im having a major issues with my serato crates bout a week ago my external hdd(ssd) cable probably had an issue my serato was taking extremely long to open i was seeing black screen when hdd is plug in when its not it starts up as normal i changed the cable then to realise my crates is all mixed up😥😥 do u have an idea how to keep it organised because everytime i arrange it like before ,when i finish n shutdown serato it gone back to the same dis order way all shuffle up
half my tracks are orange and i dont know how to get rid of them i did the re-scan and find lost tracks but doesn't do anything ... all my music is on a HD please help
I want to ask you a question and give me your personal opinion on this. What do you think about external drive for dj music Library. Some people says it's butter cause you can easily move your Library from one computer to the other. also i'm new just starting up and fixing my music library, looking for some new ideas.
A lot of people just use their external hard drive for their music. I think it depends on how much memory your computer has and how stable of a laptop you have. My MacBook Pro is solid so I feel good storing my music on their. Other people prefer using a hard drive in case their computer crashes and they lose all of their music in the process. As long as you have a back up either one works.

Hi Luis, I'm not sure what you are asking...is Serato automatically analyzing your music when you start it?
Thank you.
What about Hot Cues you have saved? Will they transfer over too?
Yes, hot cues will save since your files have already been analyzed.
does this work for the music from the tidal tab
When you open serato on the new computer was length populated or did you have to re analyze tracks?

Ok I saw another post with reply
I dragged my serato folder from program files plus the serato backup from my music library

This works partially, I got my playlists but all of my cues are lost, and all the comments I had on the tracks are gone.
What does it mean when it says this file has an incorrect data structure?

From what I know, you can’t save crates from music you have on your hard drive. Your music has to be on your computer.

I did what you should but my crates didnt show
What if I have a bunch of crates which are populated via an external hard drive and from many folders, will this still work?
That won't work. All of your music needs to be in the one folder and in the same location in both computers.
Hi, do the cue points transfer too? If not, is there any other option to transfer music between two computers and keep cue points?
Yes the cue points transfer.

Do you need to plug up your turn tables to do this
No. Just use your computer.

This is so confusing did all this still no crates
How big is your storage on your macbook?
- terrabite
Don't you drag it into iTunes?
Itunes is not the way to transfer your Serato Crates from one computer to the next.
I didn't see this answer til after I asked the first question now what or how do you work with iTunes
What about itunes
Is there a way to have your music stored into cloud service and use the mp3's from the cloud?
Not that I’m aware of.
DOSEN’T WORK
Lost all my crates, all cue points & all already played music
Still didn't work😊
Thanks I lost all my music files it don’t work for me
thank you very much :)
