I wish he would dumb it down a little for people like me who are not Cuban. I am totally into contemporary latin jazz, salsa, timba it's practically all I play and listen to. I've been playing bass for 40 years so I'm not a terrible bass player. But this is so hard for me to wrap my brain around.
I am a latino bass player. I think, when demonstrating in a clinic like this, he should play more basic tumbaos(as a son montuno or salsa style)) to people understand, then start adding and dividing the timba elements. I my self use the timba elements(funky) as resources to enrich my playing and give the music another dimension; i don´t like to play just timba as it is, beacause i am allround player.
yeah, he's just overplaying like crazy. in a timba song, none of that would make it on the track. the MD wouldn't let him! of course, in NG he did play those kinds of very ornate basslines but he would often be more grounded. i guess, since he didn't have a harmonic framework he was just playing whatever popped in his head.
Real precise...love her translation because it stays on its real inglish/Spanish translation. .my admiration for the lady and she really knows whats happening on her translation.❤
Pues...obviamente es un gran bajista, músico e intérprete. Pero con todo el respeto que me merece no sabe explicar muy bien 😅. En mi muy humilde opinión.

Another thing, he don´t talk about playing the bassdrum, he is playing it but not explaining it

Most can`t understand the poly ritmo but, try not to hate just because you can`t follow.
