I'm down for that. Please, now it's too obvious that they haven't had this phase and it's going in the painful territory. Mostly because YOU PAY IN THIS ECONOMY for something you can read for free.
100% on the linguistics part. It would have been as easy as “the Elites spoke slowly. It was almost too slow for my ears. Everything moves faster in Loot, a necessary evil when you’re surrounded by thieves, under the table trades, and the threat of guards. Because of this, our dialect had become quicker and harsher to ensure we can speak and run at the same time.” That’s all. She didn’t have to get fancy with it or create new words. But, alas it just goes to show how little thought she put into it and how little editing was done to ensure this book actually made sense.
Oh, I definitely agree with this! I got a much better writing style after working through tropes and cringey plots on Wattpad /ao3. I think everyone should have that chance
What pains me the most is that people who haven’t gone through Wattpad or AO3 phase...they are paying for books that could be read for free on both of those sites. Guys I promise once you start reading on there your life will change.
Right?! Like the premise is great. I wish they would've hired a ghost writer to help them out. Several awesome series were like anamorphs and vampire diaries.
i feel like no ones brave enough to do enemies to lovers? (like published authors. the fanfic writers EAT this easily, usually.) like i dunno it's either like powerless where one person (the male mc) is ontologically evil like an actual bad person that we're pretending is nice or theyre "enemies" bcuz they just argue a little but then in a week theyre in love. xD i'd really like to be proven wrong tho, like i want some toxic mutually assured destruction stuff. who's brave enough to take it there.
Honestly, I don't really mind if people enjoyed it or not - I won't judge anyone for their taste. However, I do believe that there are much better romance books out there that manage to establish a deep emotional connection, rather than simply featuring meaningless conversations between characters devoid of personality . To be honest, I agree with everything you said. I haven't read Reckless only a few pages because it was just so boring 🤗 btw really enjoy your videos
When I finished the book i thought about it and nothing really happened i tried convincing myself I didn’t waste time and money but this series is truly not hitting 😭😭
I've been wanting to hear your opinions on this, excited to hear this because I disliked it. I HATED the whole "I have my dagger to your throat and I'm saying I hate you but I'm not gonna kill you because I'll do that next time" shit. In The Cruel Prince Jude was able to have knife to throat scenes and not kill someone with reason. She would spin it so that she was instead holding someone hostage and twist her words. It's simple. I wanted a scene where Paedyn tried to genuinely stab Kai and kill him and it forced him to stop her or whatever. The one or two scenes where she tries to "run away" don't count-UGH!
That’s very interesting how similar it is to Psych, I’ve only ever seen a few episodes but it all makes sense why it felt familiar to me. The kiss scene was not it. Btw love the curls ❤
i loveee your energy and even though i didnt read powerless or reckless i loved your rant reviews. you're so concise and funny and a lot of your opinions seem to line up with mine lolll anyway you're cool
apparently she almost exactly copies things from other books, like a part in the first book that talks about dimples which was exactly like shatter me. then there was a quote that talked about kai “being a fool for paedyn” in the 2nd book. i know theres more but i can’t remember… another book i feel like she copied is defy the night.. anyways that was a random rant, but i really enjoyed your video and agree with you!
So I listened to the audiobook of powerless cuz of the hype I saw. But it was soooo loooong, in a bad way. I sped it up to like 2x the speed, maybe even higher. Im glad you're talking about this because its exactly how I felt. BORING. Now I want to read Red Queen to see how similar they are.
I agree with you 100% on your points in this video. And what you said about how the rest of us who had a wattpad faze are done with these books had me laughing. So true.
I had to dnf this book not even 10 chapters in because it was soooo boring and I could not get over the cringe dialogue. And thanks to your review, I am never picking this book back up. Great video! ❤
I have a wattpad account, and apparently make semi good self-insert fan fiction. My readers pointed out, the pacing and the conflict make sense, even if I have typos sometimes. I have done this since 2020, and I'm a young adult now, but having your fan fiction phase where you're writing and taking snippets from your imagination and publishing them for free is beneficial for improvement. People will be thankful if you become an author and have prior experience in writing and getting criticism. I do a lot of self reflection on my stuff and read other criticism, and my storytelling improves thanks to it. That's likely what the powerless author hasn't had. Fan fiction is free criticism, trial of errors and an experimentap background for language structure, plot and story
After living through a rise in fascism and a world-wide pandemic, you'd think these authors would understand the ripple effects these have on the world, ESPECIALLY for those living in poverty. But no, it's just a thing that happened and mildly inconveniences the main character.
Actually it's very common for white people especially in the entertainment industry to have to learn a more standard accent, especially in the UK. Until the 90s everyone had to speak "BBC" English. Not to mention Scottish people. Though frankly, that's because most of the time no one understands you outside your region. Like try listening to someone from Glasgow.
prove you have an old AO3 or wattpad account or unfortunately you're not allowed to write a book. sorry I don't make the rules

My wattpad phase cringed me out so much I emailed admin to delete my account 😭
@@bushra2179I cringe so hard at the thought of what's on mine... I'm never going back. I thought I was the next Shakespeare 💀
I wrote my first fanfic in 1998. AO3 wasn't even a thought. We were uploading txt files to fandom archives.

@@Queencereal why is your writing so much better than hers this is crazy also you need to consider becoming an author
Omg so true on your rant on people not going thru the wattpad phase. Like I feel it’s so critical to developing taste 😂
Oh, I definitely agree with this! I got a much better writing style after working through tropes and cringey plots on Wattpad /ao3. I think everyone should have that chance
Yeah, it doesn't even have to be wattpad, just reading any trashy romance/fantasy or whatever will make your taste get better after a while.
What pains me the most is that people who haven’t gone through Wattpad or AO3 phase...they are paying for books that could be read for free on both of those sites.

everyone deserved a wattpad phase
So true! And honestly, some AO3 writers write better than some really popular booktok authors lol
it’s so sad hearing about books that would be so interesting if they weren’t written terribly 💔💔
Right?! Like the premise is great. I wish they would've hired a ghost writer to help them out. Several awesome series were like anamorphs and vampire diaries.
I loved Psych which is why I picked up Powerless originally! DNF’d it at 50% and went back to watch Psych to cleanse my mind of powerless.
