- Hello everyone and welcome to this SriLankan video!
I’m flying their flagship A330-300 on the busy route between Dubai and Colombo and after a stay there onwards to Chennai. And I chose to do so in their Business Class as it’s just a solid product for a very affordable price.
SriLankan has a touch that is hard to find in recent times, and that is of the “old-school style” crew. And I don’t mean old but the finesse that used to be there in the good olden days of flying..
Immaculate hair cuts, manners, image and uniform standards, service protocol.. Loved each minute of it!
While the IFE needs a bit of work, the rest of the experience was just perfect.

Been flying with them since 1987 when, back then, it was known as Air Lanka and flew the Lockheed Tristar and a single 737. A great airline with lovely staff.
Those were the days..! And what an aircraft the L1011 was..

We flew on the A340-300 from Lon in 2000 , Great Airline and wonderful country . Hopefully Sri-lankan get back to its glory days .

My husband and I flew from DFW to TRV and flew BA to LHR and then onwards on Srilankan to CMB and onwards to TRV. The crew and the onboard service is excellent, with great food. The days stopover at CMB before we flew out to TRV was a welcome break. We got to experience the famed Lankan hospitality and loved every minute of it.
I wish they had newer equipment, and more folks will definitely fly them from especially from the US, now that their booking office in New Jersey back to full strength.
They are highly underrated and I wish them much more success. Like you said, it’s a great country with awesome people and tasty food. I hope too more Americans fly them and they continue to grow.

Lovely trip report, great view of the dxb night skies, good detailed sneak-peeks, very informative technical briefs, loved the way you presented the vlog hats off mate.
Bit disappointed Sri Lankan doesn't serve a proper hot meal on Colombo-Channai setors anymore, they did a full service with spirits and beers in the past.
Wel come my mother land sri lanka. For be half of sri lankan i am apriciatted, and i am so happy u been in sri lanka. Right now iam in abudhabi. Once again very welcome to sri lanka and spend some holidays specially southen province of sri lanka...

Sri Lankan is a lovely carrier. I flew Biz class Riyadh-Colombo-Tokyo with a 2 month stopover in SL. They were so gracious. And of course, their tea service in Biz class is legendary. My jaw dropped when I heard one of the cabin crew making PA announcements in fluent Japanese. I would like to try their Melbourne service. Although the airline has many challenges, you would never know that flying with them. 🙏🙏❤
2 month stop over in Sri Lanka?! I wouldn’t mind that!!
And whatever the challenges are, I’m sure they’ll overcome them as it’s just a great experience. People should consider them more often as it’s top notch.

@TheLayoverEatFly Yes, the RUH-NRT ticket allowed a free stopover. As I have a holiday home on the southwest coast of SL, it was a win-win. I also flew back in economy, and the service was just as good! Two cabin crew members became very chatty with me. Every time they walked past, they topped up my red wine. I finally had to say, "Stop!" I ended up writing to customer services commending them on their warm and friendly service. Hope to fly them to Seoul this winter. 🙂

I sadly never got to fly the SQ B747.. Was always in my bucket list. I was living in AMS at the time and they only flew the A340-300’s and B777-200ER’s there, so that’s what I got..

Thanks a lot buddy! Yes, QR sends their big ones to Dubai but they’re always empty. It’s just to lure EK customers away but an A320 or B787 would usually do the job. I’ll post that flight soon. I do it every month and it’s just never full!

I'm flying Sri Lankan for the first time on a work/holiday trip to India, Sri Lanka and Nepal next month. A very short flight from Madurai to Colombo and 6 days later in business class from Colombo to Kathmandu. I've heard good things about them, including in this video.
You’ll have a great flight, I’m sure. Specially on the longer flight to Kathmandu as the first one is short.

As usual an amazing video of a favorite airline of mine out of Singapore great service with a lower price for a full fledged airline - Always fly them to India from the days when it was partners with Emirates so some of the touch service aircrafts still there .Singapore Colombo India flights was fantastic where the airline would offer you a stop over for a 4 hour more connection time with hotel next to the beach with food included.
Thanks Saud! See, it’s the same for me; one of the most affordable airlines from Dubai to Asia. Dubai to KL or Singapore won’t usually cost more then $300. And the quality is great.
And yes, I continue to observe some EK touches too up to this date. One of them was that the cabin crew use the same silver serving trays as in Emirates First.
I look forward to my next experience with them and wouldn’t mind that hotel on the beach!!

Josh likes to complain about everything. It really started annoying me as it’s just plainly unfair.
Everyone knows he is rough on airlines and employees, so when people see him it is only human that they get nervous and make mistakes.
I watched a couple of seconds of the El Al video the other day and turned it off when I noticed he was complaining about the crew being too nice when they recognized him. What the heck do you expect?! Complaining brings way more views and so money.
Anyway, I’ll continue to fly SriLankan. And Vistara, and all others he hates.
He actively worked alongside Qatar Airways which really has some of the toughest, strangest, unfair and unspoken work conditions for most employees, but not a word about that when you’re in bed with them.

It’s actually a flight in Business on the A380 next. But I’ve got A6-EBM from Mumbai to Dubai, maybe next month I’ll publish it. I can guarantee you it looks the same!! It should have been retired but it’s kept longer due to increased demand.

I really enjoy your videos. May I just suggest that you consider putting the text near the top of the screen as sometimes it covers some good views of the ground on approach etc. It's not a big deal, but may be an improvement. I guess you will be able to tell when editing whether that's a better place or not but non-the-less, always enjoy your trips.

I've flown with them twice and had an incredible experience from the food to the overly friendly crew and the price, in fact I prefer Sri Lankan over Etihad and Emirates and I'm glad that they've climbed back up.

This is the airline a super entitled reviewer wanted shut down recently, in a video with a clickbait thumbnail in which he had his fair forearms crossed in annoying fashion.
Yes, that is just so sad and annoys me a lot. The only airlines with positive reviews are the ones that give him benefits, like QR etc.
What he does just damages the industry.

I still remember long back i was on the inaugural flight of Srilanka from Colombo to Jeddah, airline with great potential sadly fell off a bit
It fell off but I think it has great potential! The people are great and the product is one of the best in the area. I look forward to fly them again.
Is the Ahlan business class lounge the priority pass lounge? If so have you ever had problems with overcrowding?
It’s always packed.. And I do think priority pass has access there. Not sure as I never used Priority Pass in DXB as I’ve got access to pretty much all lounges there.

If I see the registration it’s easy. If I don’t I will go back in time with my live plane tracker and see what plane was docking there/pushing back on the same parking around that time. It never fails to work! Sometimes it takes 1 minute, sometimes 30! I am now for example trying to find one flight for super long in the next video and I can’t, but I’m stubborn so I will.

10:12, not really derated, this sounds like the average take off power for the Trent 700, in fact I love it the best like that it just sounds perfect 👌🏼.
I’ve flown on a Lufthansa A330-343 D-AIKC from FRA-DXB (7 hour flight) back in 2014 and I remember the takeoff power sounds exactly the same as in the vid, not derated, not full toga power, just the right average takeoff power for Trent 700
I would say the A330 is amongst the top3 planes I’ve flown the most and I can guarantee this was the most minimal take off thrust. When the climb thrust was set you couldn’t even hear a big change so it was low already.
When the A330 is heavy you can hear the higher thrust, it’s way cooler. I hope to upload that some day soon.

@@TheLayoverAviation I’ve heard even lower power than that on takeoff, if you fly on Middle East Airlines on their A330-243 they set lower thrust on takeoff, if you want to experience Trent 700 at full toga thrust, fly on Swiss international Airlines A330-343, always they set TOGA thrust on their takeoff even on short distances !

Once in Sri Lanka, how safe is the city? We’ve heard of the turmoil a year ago when the government fell and there was a severe shortage of fuel and food. Can one find enough taxis, well stocked food stores and restaurants, etc?
I have seen things on tv but honestly never experienced anything bad ever.. I was here during the fuel shortage too and it was just fine, a big problem for locals though..
The people are lovely, food is great and it all seems back to normal for now. I go myself quite often and also took my family and nanny on holidays here end of last year. All cool!
I've always seen that Air Canada parked at the exact same gate every time I've taken the train to Concourse D haha!

I’ve always enjoyed Sri Lankan business class, it gets a bad rap sometimes, but all my fights have been enjoyable…Colombo is not perfect, but pretty efficient.

Vistara and SriLankan must be in my top for now..
The ones that were on top are sadly gone, such as Jet Airways and Kingfisher.. And further in my top 3 I would probably add Biman, I totally loved their B787-8.

Yes, they do! But it’s a very friendly city towards to aviation so no crazy procedures like in other countries..

Flown them a lot on L1011 , A320 , A330 and A340s biz class. Good service , food from a cart in the old days . But why the comment that they have 5 A330 on order ?? 🤔🤔. I don’t think so
According to Wikipedia and airfleets they do. Probably second hand frames to replace the A330-200’s.
Hey...how do you know sitting in plane that an aircraft that is on the ground is a cargo flight from such and such place? Also how do you know the flights that are landing are from such and such a place? 😅
