It's here again, a new year and its challenges ahead of us, a whole lot of change behind us.
I'll be honest, 2022 was a terrible year for my RUclips channel: Plummeting views due to an algorithm relying on shorts and entertainment, the prioritization of RUclips Music over good old music videos, and a whole lot of self-made pressure to succeed.
A lot has changed in that year and I had to learn to accept these changes. My RUclips channel became a place to celebrate my old tracks, while I left new releases to the streaming platforms. That's why it wasn't so easy to create a balanced best-of mix this year. Like last year, this playlist includes not only new songs on RUclips, but also a whole bunch of new releases on Spotify, Apple Music and co.
Also included are newly released tracks from my new favorite album "Skybound", including a fantastic collaboration with Periwinkle and Hinamaru. It includes new stories from the Silent City, as well as a brand new set of jukebox lullabies.
2023 was the year I learned that my music journey can happen anywhere, not just on RUclips. It's the year I got to know you even better, here in the comments, in all the messages on Instagram and on our Discord server - beyond all the cold numbers and line graphs.
Thank you so much for reminding me why I'm here in the first place. It's to interact with you, get to know you and listen to all your own stories.

i'm back with some continuation of my aftermath series. but first, lets go through the poems that started it, "A Heartfelt Tragedy parts 1-3"
A Heartfelt Tragedy
There once was a girl whose light,
shown so bright.
She met a boy whose heart,
was gone.
Her light helped him heal.
Over the course of a year,
she helped him heal.
After she taught him what the emotions he was feeling were,
she disappeared.
A few years later she came back into his life,
they were like brother and sister.
But the boy was hurt once again,
she helped him heal once more.
After a while the sister asked her brother;
‘life really sucks, doesn’t it’
And the brother made the worst mistake of his life and responded with;
‘It really does’
The brother never heard from his sister again and is still hurting,
To this day.
A heart felt tragedy part 2
The sister came back to a familiar scene,
Her brother was broken once more.
And, yet as if in a dream the brother started to heal once again.
They started to catch up and 0learn what the other went through.
The brother eventually collapsed and got,
Almost decade’s worth of emotions out,
While his sister comforted him.
They continued being there for each other,
be it as a confidant,
a friend,
or a pillar of support,
through thick and thin,
rain and snow,
sorrow and happiness.
A heart felt tragedy part 3
The sister had some terrible news to tell her brother.
She was going to have to leave for an indefinite amount of time,
And, have no way for her and her brother to talk to each other.
The brother was heartbroken
and old scars reopened.
The brother fell back into sorrow and anxiety.
Pain was an old friend that decided to reenter his life.
His life will become monotonous once more
until a light will shine bright,
and end his eternal night.
now lets go through my Aftermath series Passages 1-5
Aftermath: passage 1
"I still remember the day we met. it was a summer just like this one" a boy spoke to himself. "You were so energetic back then, so easy and fun to pick on as well. You never told me your actual name though, I guess you never will now. you are gone. left on a journey I don't know anything about, while here I am stuck in the past. I keep telling myself that I am moving on, that I am getting better, but deep done I know that I am just trying to fool myself. So, one day, I will truly believe that I have healed." The boy got up and left the tree he was under. He faintly heard a piano playing a tune that struck at his heart. It was filled with motivation, and yet it had a deep sorrow hidden in its notes. He tenderly walked towards the pianist playing the piano.
Aftermath: passage 2
“You’ve been lingering for so long. Why don’t you sit down and relax? Take a seat and forget about life for a while.” the Pianist said before playing that melody again. “Sometimes the best thing to do is just stop thinking, get lost in the world around you. Why spend every hour of every day worrying about something you cannot fix, something you can’t change? Instead, embrace the world around you. Get lost in the wonders of nature, take a nap in a kayak on the lake. Go to new places, see things you never have seen before. Go on a journey that only you will know about.” said the pianist before ending the heartfelt sonata and starting a new one that is filled with hope. Hope devoid of all the pain from the past
Aftermath: Passage 3
As the melody ends, the boy sits there, dazed. Slowly, he gets up and starts to walk away. "Hey sis. it's been a while huh? I guess this is the end of my first summer without you." The boy says to himself, the distance from the pianist growing. "Its been tough without you by my side. My heart has started to move on you know, I've finally found someone I can open up to, like I open up to you. My soul on the other hand, is still so scarred and hurt. I know you want me to move on and not be in so much agony, but. How can I move on when I loved you so much? When my soul was warmed by your presence. You gave me hope that things will get better. Hope that I could heal! Hope that I can help you." As the boy was walking away, he started reciting a poem. He didn't know how he knew the poem, but he didn't care anymore. "If the Heavens' have eyes, why have they forsaken us? If there are truly gods, why have they left us? If this life is to suffer, why should we fight? The Heavens are cruel and impartial, the gods are fake and only exist as we believe they do; Life may be full of suffering but that is why we should fight! Fight to keep these good times lasting, to make these happy memories stay, all so we can live this life without regrets!" The boy cried out as tears fell from his eyes. When he stopped crying, you could see a newfound spark in his eyes. that spark held his hatred of the heavens, and of himself. He hated the heavens for not helping his sister out, and he hated himself for being too weak to do it himself.
Aftermath: passage 4
A few months later, the boy is still feeling empty from the loss of his sister, but instead of his rage growing, he became quiet. He started to search, search for the joy in this world. He truly embarked on his Dao. He kept searching for himself, his purpose, and hope. Every time he meets someone new who he thinks can help him, he says “I'm lost. Searching for something I don't know. Searching for someone I've never met. I have found a feeling that led to more searching. Searching for something that did not exist. Searching for a place to put all my hopes and dreams. But most of all to learn how to forgive myself. How to forgive myself for being too weak, too young, too naïve.” Not a single person has been able to help him. So, he is still searching. When will his search end?
Aftermath: passage 5
Half a year later, the boy, still lost, is now sure of his Dao. He still doesn’t know the end of his path, but he knows the direction he must walk. He runs across the Pianist and sits down to listen to their music once more, the boy slowly says in a trance-like state; “Every new beginning is also an ending. The end is also a new beginning. I’ve understood that everything is part of a cycle. Be it karma, life and death, the four seasons, the beginning and the end, and so much more.” After sighing softly, he continues, “When you fall, you're bound to get back up. After you have lived in darkness for so long, light is bound to show up in your life. When all you know is sorrow, joy is the most wonderful present.” the boy starts to doze off to a tune filled with emotion, uncertainty, and Hope.
and finally, a side series to aftermath, messages, these are messages written by the boy from My Aftermath series, along with the boy from A Heartfelt Tragedy.
Message 1: Dear Love,
A boy sits alone in his room with music by his favorite pianist playing in the background while he thinks. He had stopped writing years ago and yet here he is picking his pen back up at his desk in front of an open window at night. Slowly he gets back into the flow and starts writing a message, a message to his love whoever she may be;
“Dear love,
I have no idea who you are right now, but I want you to be able to know this version of me, the me I never show outside of this room of mine. I want you to know about my past, my hopes, and my dreams. But I will never be confident enough to tell you myself. I am tormented by events I couldn’t change, events I will never fully understand. I am someone who grows attached to people too easily, even with a few people who I met online. Two such cases are a duo who I see as my younger sisters, they were so bright and pure. And yet, this cruel world couldn’t spare them. One of them ended up killing herself to escape from the terrible family she was born in. While the other decided to cut all contact with me so I wouldn’t worry about her, her state of mind was never the safest either. So, who knows if she is dead or alive. I spent years building this wall around my heart while also having a window to it on my sleeve all the time. So, if you are reading this, congratulations. My only hopes anymore are to just stay alive, to stay alive long enough to find my purpose in life. While my dreams are to be able to wake up one day and be without regrets, to have a place I can call my own, to have a family. That last one will probably never happen though. I am too scarred to be in a successful relationship. I hope this didn't scare you away though, like so many others. -Sincerely, Joesph, the Broken Poet”
suddenly the boy started crying. He finally was able to get all his pain out into the open. Although it didn’t go away, he was able to at least lessen it and come to terms with it a bit.
Message 2: Dear Past
A boy once again picks up his pen to write once more, this time to his past self, to write advice he wishes he would have had all those years ago.
“Dear Me,
Here is some advice for you.
Don’t close yourself off from the world for there is so much beauty left to be seen, it is everywhere after all.
Don’t just focus on your path, for if you do you will miss things you desperately need.
Just enjoy your life, you’ll find your purpose along the way somewhere on your path.
Find joy in everything you do no matter how small, be it reading, playing games, writing, singing or whatever you want to do.
Hold on tight to those you love and care for but let them fly away if they so want to, if they are supposed to be by your side they will come back.
Don't bottle all your emotions up constantly just learn when you should let them out. They can be your biggest driving factor to improve, or the cause of your ruin.
Last of all, pay attention to your surroundings, and learn from your failures and everyone else's as well.
Live life without regrets and you should be fine -Joesph, the Broken Poet”
The boy sighed before falling back into his chair, a few tears streaming down his face. Relieved, the boy slowly packs his things up before burning the letter as fuel for the fire keeping him warm.

you inspired me to write poems again after i went a year+ without writing anything. your music, helped me open up again, to putting everything on paper. so thank you, this series is just a small portion of my life, put into a fictional setting. once again, thank you

It's not part of any anime! I wrote the script and vtuber and voice actress Hinamaru was translating and voice acting it!
