    I agree! Wash routines are really based on your water situation, detergent, everything like that. Here in TX we have hard water so I use liquid detergent and a little borax to help with the hard water. I think really as long as you do a small pre wash to get out the nasties and then a main wash that’s the main part

    Love this. ♥️ I had such a hard time with my wash routine in the beginning when I was newbie to cloth diapering. I discovered that my microfiber inserts just weren’t a good fit for us. I stumbled upon your channel and another channel that talked about flats and prefolds. Game changer for sure. I never had another issue with my wash routine after switching to flats. Love your advice. ♥️♥️

      I'm glad you bring this up. I don't talk about microfiber much, I forget that so many people use it sometimes and have trouble with it. That should always be my first question when helping someone with their wash routine. 👍

    Every time I heard or read about someone doing a rinse first and then a full wash for the diapers I was like... I'm not gonna stick to my washer to watch for them and doing laundry the whole day 🙄 but honestly... I kind of enjoy laundry ever since we started CDing 😁 I love taking them out of the dryer, see how white and clean is everything... putting them away... ok, maybe I have too much time on my hand 😊

    This was awesome. We basically have the same routine. I've always put my diapers in the dryer. We are on baby 3 and I just don't have time to sort laundry. I also use the lysol laundry additive. It works great on night time accidents for older wee ones too.

    You've convinced me to buy a diaper sprayer, that looked so easy! My baby is just starting solids so I've just been swishing them in the toilet.

      You could try it out! I’m cloth diapering with my fourth child and I did with my second although I had NO IDEA what I was doing! I was putting microfiber inserts up against baby’s skin when she started potty training!!!! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ And I’ve learned so much this time around! I love this channel and I also watch “Jay’s nest” and the cloth diaper podcast & “Jess is Blessed” for info on cloth diapering this go round. My little one is almost 7 weeks old and I’ve used covers and flats/prefolds thanks to studying cloth diapering on RUclips. I’m really enjoying being able to wrap flats around the baby: it is awesome so far! I also really love the laziness I can have with pre-folds. Also I. Ought a stash of all in ones as well to help when others are watching her. It’s been helpful for my husband! How old are your kiddos?

    I’m here washing a load now but I’m hand washing them because I have an old washing machine (has years of build up) with cold water only so I wash the flats in a bucket with boiled hot water, arm and hammer free and clear and borax and a hand clothes washer (looks like a plunger) ….then I rinse and boil them then hang them to dry

      I roll up the diaper and snap it shut, put it inside a wet bag, maybe inside an additional wet bag too if it's particularly foul 😂, then snap that to the diaper bag and take it home to spray at home.

    I’m having such a HARD time with my routine. I thought I had something down and then after a few months my daughter got a bad rash over night. I got them fixed and ready to use again and a cloth group I’m in on Facebook told me how much detergent to use for my water hardness levels and it messed them up again! I’m currently in the process of fixing them again and I don’t know what to do I don’t want to have them messed up again!😩

      I would highly recommend listening to your detergent bottle for how much detergent to use. If it's a large load, fill to the large load line. Medium load? Medium load line. I have hard water and have used this routine for 5 years now.

  • @ECpeesy

    Curious which detergent you're using... I recently used a different detergent than I normally do and was so scared it would cause issues, but it was perfectly fine.
    We're slow traveling and stay in an apartment for 1-3 months, so I'm constantly figuring out my wash routine. We finally have a dryer after hang drying everything for months. I throw everything (except wool covers) in the dryer and it makes diaper laundry so much faster. Plus the diapers come out soft and fluffy! 💜 Heidi

      I use seventh generation power or regular right now. I've also used Tide free and clear or regular, both powder and liquid, and Method free and clear or regular over the years. All of those have worked for us.

    Hi! I have been watching your videos for last couple of weeks since i recently started cloth diapering. I am using flats with diaper cover now. If i hand wash them every night, do i need to do the BIG main wash in the machine? Since these are only one layer of cloth, should the main wash be so intense?

    • @gaudiumrome
      @gaudiumrome 5 месяцев назад

      Hi. I use flats + covers on my children. I have always done a pre wash + a main wash. Yes, thorough. Heavy soil. At least on a normal setting. But for the last several months it's been more like two thorough washes because I have two in diapers eating solids. So that's a lot of poop. I also line dry them in the sun. Hope that helps.

    If the baby isn't being weaned yet is the poo water soluble? as this is what I got told.

    • @hillaryrousseau5797
      @hillaryrousseau5797 Год назад +1

      If the baby is ONLY breastfed and not eating solids at all (no baby food or oats or anything) then the poop is water soluble and can go straight into the washer without being sprayed off first. You’ll have to start spraying when the baby starts eating anything beside milk, even if they are also still nursing.
