I’m brand new to wood working and just built this, literally the first thing I’ve ever made. Managed to get it right with the crap miter gauge that came with the saw, and a $10 speed square. Well… right enough haha. Made with a mix of wood from pallets and concrete molds from a build site, so the wood was all free. Wonky, but free. But it’s level and doesn’t wobble, so that’s a win! 👌
Good play with the pallet wood and left over build site materials. Repurposed wood is always a good idea.
Great work John, do you find any limitations with a job site saw? Compared to a standalone table saw
Not for the type of woodworking I do , this saw has plenty of power for my needs and I break down all my sheets with a track saw.
Simple yet very effective design. Maybe it's just me but one of the biggest reasons I subscribed to your channel is the fact that you are genuinely happy when you make stuff and your reaction to the finished product is very appealing to me, that is rarely seen nowadays 😊 At the end of the day all these things we make are supposed to make our jobs and lives easier and we should be happy about everything we make. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there!
I made four 2' by 4' work benches……one has the the tablesaw, one has the mitersaw, one is flat with a Built-in router table and the other is just a flat work table.... The work surfaces on all 4 are exactly the same size, so everything can be used as an outfit and I can lower the router blade on the router table and have 2 flat work surfaces as outfeed or infeed.....
John over spring and up to now I have built a 3m x 2.4m shed so space is at a premium and projects like this for me are a godsend so THANKS...............Barry
John, another wonderful presentation. This approach demonstrates the true skills of any good joiner/carpenter. That ability to plan, and build simple, but durable projects, without unnecessary complication. Conversely, the ability and skill to be able to construct cabinet quality products when called for. Just love the practical and simplistic way you deliver your videos. Keep up the good work. Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
That's great, simple and sturdy all you need.
As a retired chipy I sold all my workshop machines
Several years ago but still doing the odd job !
So bought myself a table saw last week (my wife said why??) And this trolley is just the job I'll be knocking one up tomorrow tomorrow
Thanks .
Cheers Robert, I'm glad you found it useful. As a retired chipy, you do carpentry work just for the pleasure of it.
This is exactly what I was looking for!! A design model that was simple & strong that would hold my drill press without needing fancy equipment or a sophisticated process to build. I will also build one for my tennis racket stringing machine.
Hello my friend,
A beautiful table saw trolley, useful and multi-purpose. Congratulations my friend, your work is always more innovative and practical than serious. I always like your ideas. See you. Stay healthy and happy. Big greetings.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed 👍❤👏👏👍
Thanks John! I'm struggling to plan out the space I have and I never considered this kind of modular approach where I can move bits around and combine them together (like the table saw + mft). Great idea!
Nicely designed table saw stand. Strong functional, with space for accessories. Like the idea of fixing 2 by 4 s to the top to prevent the table saw from moving.
I'm glad you liked it
Cheap, strong, practical and nice looking. Usually it's a case of picking three. This project has all four.
I know it's shop stock birch plywood (hence still cheap) but at the prices here in Australia that's $100 worth of 19mm ply in the top.
Birch ply is crazy expensive now, I could have doubled up the 12mm WBP ply is suppose
Practical saw stand with minimum footprint. Other designs, more complicated take up too much area. Built your idea out of plywood to provide a larger storage unit beneath.
Nice work. But what about sawdust? Does the Bosch saw have a separate dust port? I have an old Delta saw where the dust drops down (what doesn't fly around the shop, that is) and while I like your cart, I don't think I can use your design for the saw. I CAN see building one for my planer. Thanks, John.
hello John do you have the 2x4 cut demensions of your cart . I have a M18 tablesaw I want to build this for
Awesome idea👌 .
I made one router table( a little bit talller than your cart) a few months ago and use it as table saw cart because I have no garage and needed some kind of router table and table saw cart ,2 in 1.
I've also added 2 drawers on the bottom(10 cm high each drawer).
I'm sorry I can't upload any pictures but looks awesome. Keep doing your awesome jobs!
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
Rolling carts are great for the small workshop. I have most of my bigger power tools on a rolling cart- router table, spindle/belt sander, planer, miter saw. Easy to get things out of the way and a little extra storage.
Another great video, thanks. I am amazed you lasted as long as you did lifting it out every time you needed it, I've the same saw and I was amazed how heavy it was just getting it out of the box...once. All my workbenches are made using your 4*2 construction method, great way to do it without costing the earth. Where did you get the blade hanger/guards from?
I got them from Sauter Shop Alistair, they are made by Woodpecker
Hi what height is your saw at and feed out bench? (In mm) and how tall are you?
Which type of bosch job site table saw you have please?
I have the same saw so I know how back breaking heavy it is! I struggled with mine, so made an almost identical trolley, but on mine I added a drawer at the top, and left top open to catch as much saw dust as possible in the drawer, because it does throw out a lot of dust from the bottom.
That was my only thought, if it's screwed down onto the plywood top, what happens to all the sawdust that falls through and will just gather up over time? I'm going to make this but without a table top and instead 4 struts for the saw to sit on with an opening to the shelf below so I can add a drawwr to catch the dust.
I love your 4x2 construction so much I'm addicted to it John! It's solid as a rock and it'll outlast us all. Keep it coming.
Cheers Gav, simple is often best
John, great project!!! I have a Rigid 4514 and this is exactly what I need. Steve Ramsey also has one, so I maybe combining the two. Not sure yet.
Glad you liked it!
Could this be modified to hold a 500 pound laser? Would you just use 4x4 posts for the legs instead? And maybe a crossbeam under the table top?
It could. Just make sure the castors have the correct load ratting
Exactly what I was looking for. This is going to fit great in my shop and most importantly save my back. Thank you for posting and sharing. Take care my friend.
Congratulations 👏👏👏 Thank you for this beautiful video. Can you share with us the dimensions of the materials you use?
I have a 1955 cast iron Craftsman contractor saw so it’s pretty dang heavy. This would work great! The issue is the saw dust goes down. Any reason I couldn’t put a hole in the center of the table and a bin in the bottom shelf? I’m just starting out so this is perfect timing.
Hi John, I know you have been busy in the background this year but would you ever consider doing a modified version of this as a fliptop with tools on either side? Figured it might be something you'd consider with the modifications in the shop.
Thank you, I'm just about finished the cart using your design method. I just need to cut some plywood to make the walls to hang the blades and tools off.
Made a second cart for the miter saw today. Have to wait a while for my chinesium wheels. A little nicer pine ripped from some 2x8's and a little tidier construction. I see a router table cart in my future. I may very well lose my mind and build furniture for the garage one day but these are cheap, overbuilt, quick and simple.
Nice job, simple and very informative. Thank you.
Thanks for the inspiration. Made me one for my new Bosch table saw, saved 3500,- nok making this homemade instead of the roller stand from Bosch. Made my day 🙂
JUst what I need. Simple and can take a beating. Looks good!!
John love the cart... but I'm going to use it for a new planer... perfect design for my small Shop/Garage. I liked how you had a problem and fitted the the saw to the table... that's what a lot of woodworkers have... shop problems, size, noise, dust, lighting etc. Great way to address saw, table problem! ...you do great videos!
Great video as always, love my Bosch tools I have many of their tools GCM12SD miter saw RA1181 router table their 18 volt line up, circular saw jig saw drill impact corded orbital corded palm router waiting on their fixed base router to attach to my router table, again great build and thanks for sharing
Eazy Peazy lemon squeezy. perfect and cheap. Contractors saw with an iron top just arrived and I need to make a little cart to hold the beast up.
This is perfect.super simple yet great for its purpose. Will build myself very similar just thinking if I could stick dust extraction in it 🤔
I put one of these together this weekend for my old craftsman 113. Very sturdy. Mine isn't nearly as pretty as yours. Made out of left over 2x4 and plywood lying around in the garage. still many things left to do to turn my garage into a shop but having the saw on a rolling cart is a big step forward.
Great build. I built something similar about 6 months ago for my table saw and decided to copy your L bracket method. End result looks like an uglier version of what you've done but has worked great for me. Thanks for the videos!
Brilliant work, John! Nicely done! 😃
I need to make something for my table saw as well...
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks 👍hope all is well with you and yours
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed Everything is fine, thanks! 😊
Just... Too much things to do and not enough time. But that's basically life, right? 😬
Nice one. I've just bought my 1st table saw and it's too cumbersome to move about on its legs. This idea will work a treat.
I really like the idea of that track saw sacrificial board in the middle of your workbench top. I'll have to rethink the bench I'm about to build.
Nice idea. I like it for my dewalt planer. It is 90 pounds or 40 k so it is also a back breaker. Look forward to seeing your wood storage idea. “Crack on”.
I just took delivery of my saw stop and this was the rat project I built. I know most of my cuts were with the miter saw but all the same. Great video. My son is gonna love this for his table saw
I have this same saw with that gravity stand which takes up way too much space.
This is my next project.
great job John well explained good luck god bless you
I made a much more complicated bench which had the same Bosch saw at it’s heart but used the table extensions in their extended position and filled in the resultant space to make a large work surface. In truth I may have been better off building your model and a separate bench. Perhaps on another day but what I’ve done works well so I’m happy.
Now that is just what I'm wanting for my portable Bosch site saw I use in my shed. This will also save me lugging it around to as I get back pain lately.. I love the design and the way you put it together. All in all a great build tutorial mate and thank you so very much for this as it will help me so much and I won't have to carry the table saw anymore. 😁😁😁😁😁😁. I just liked and Subscribed and I look forward to seeing more great builds from your channel. Thank you again and take care mate and be safe. 👍👍👍👍
Good job John…really! Thanks for sharing.
Nice sturdy design, having the saw more easily accessible, I think you will get much more use out of it. Good to have all the storage around it to make the accessories to hand as well.
Excellent Idea and has loads of scope for other workshop applications.
Construction lumber works great for shop furniture.
Great Job John . I'll be off to the Hardware store tomorrow to get the components
Taking delivery of Bosch Gts 10 xc tomorrow. Going to build similar cart. Great presentations John - keep it going.
Have you any experience of Benchdogs Quad MFT rail hinge?
Regards,
Paul
Hi Paul I have not tried anything from bench dogs yet, best of luck with your new saw.
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed thanks John.
I have purchased the Parf 2 mk 2 and intend to make a MFT table similar to yours with a router table. I have also acquired the benchdogs quad rail hinge and I want to accommodate this in MFT - workbench top is 25mm mdf MR 1500 x 900 - any advice ?
Paul
Great little product, but a massive saver in time and for the back
Hi John. Hope you don't mind me asking this question. I am looking to buy some festool products from a private seller located in Belfast amd get them posted to Glasgow. Do you know if they will be subject to custom fees. Have trouble finding answers on Google and hmrc website is a minefield. I know you recently mentioned something about fees in a recent video so I thought I would ask and see if you can shed some light on the subject. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to seeing your next project.
Belfast is in the UK so there will be no issues shipping to Glasgow
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed thank you John. The help is much appreciated.
great job john . i cant stand having to take out comonly used tool like that all the time . its very handy to be able to walk over and cut what you want . i like that you can set it up anywhere around the mft to avoid what your working un.
a nice bonus with this is that you can use it as an outfeed to the router table
Been looking at a lot of design videos and finally found a build that didn't use pocket holes. With a small shop and a jobsite saw this is what I need. I'll also call out that most people think you need locking casters on all four legs, when two will do. Curious about the casters you have on your work bench, most of the ones I see look cheap but they look pretty sturdy.
Where did you get the shroud for your miter saw?
I made it from an old gazebo
I have made a few carts myself they are really handy good job John
John, buddy… you always pull through my man!
Good ideas John, I'll be using your design soon!
I still don’t have a table saw but I desperately need one. I think I’ll use this design to store it under my workbench when I get one. Thanks for posting.
You are very welcome
Great video john and just what I need to make a mobile cart for my Dewalt table saw. Please could you let me have a link for the castors that you have used. Thanks, Laurence
Hi Laurence, I don't have a link, I bought the castors locally
Okay thanks John.
Great idea! Tomorrow my Bosch Professional GTS 10 XC arrives (I bought it on Pime Day) and of course I'm going to build one just like it. Thank you very much for the invaluable inspiration!
Glad to help
Quick and simple back saver .
Great idea. I have the portable DeWalt table saw on its factory stand so I raised my work table up to that height to use it for an out feed table as well.
Thank you John. I have been looking at a lot of table saw bench designs. This, though simple, will be perfect for my needs. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
Glad it was helpful!
Great cart. Easy to build and turned out perfect. Usually, I have to do a bunch of tweaking to get everything to work out - but not this time. Thanks!
Glad to help
Well done. Exactly what I was looking for. I will watch more of your videos. thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi John, Just found you on youtube, have came to joinery late in life, I am a superviser in our local Mens shed here in East Lothian scotland, have lost all of my confidence in making anything, you have given me a lot of it back in your style of joinery and the pleasant encouriging way you explain things, Thank you so much, I will be off to the shed to draw up some ideas and even enjoy making some mistakes keep up the very good work, and thank you.
That's great to hear Michael, best of luck with the shed!! They are great.
As a newby to woodworking your videos are a godsend to me, I’m going to build your garden arbor soon as it’s the best design I’ve seen, I’ve just bought a bench saw and a planner so I’m going to build carts for both using your design.
Your videos are great, fun to watch and really informative so thanks very much.
Great to hear the videos are useful Sean. Enjoy the projects.
I've built several of these, but with open sides. I learned and started using the L corners from the beginning, so that is my normal building method. I like how you put the blades on the side.
I only have two fixed wheels on the rear of my table saw so I move it around like a hand-truck. But, since I don't back it up to the bench very much, it tends to slide/roll a little. I haven't fully decided on how I'll change that for the next build coming up later this summer.
I'm building a new one, soon, to be taller to match the top of my new, taller workbench. I'll be boxing it in like yours and hanging my blades and tools on the side, too. Only, I'll be adding some kind of closure on the front. My experience is that sawdust tends to fill the space if it is open.
Thank you for sharing!
Cheers Buck, thanks for your comment
Where are you getting the construction timber that doesn't have the eased edges from John? The only stuff I can find near me is CLS with the rounded edges...
A local builders providers, next time you go to get some ask if the have it, tell them you don't want round all over
Good timing. I have the same saw, and have had it for 9 years (bought second hand then). It’s looking battered now but it’s such a workhorse, only thing that’s needed fixing in that time was the brushes! Been playing with designs in my head for a couple years now as the site stand does my nut in, thanks for posting
Glad you liked it
Great video as always. Keep up the work, I’m always happy to see another upload from your channel and incorporating your ideas into my shop.
Thanks for watching Stuart
I like the construction concept and the use of plentiful and cheap materials. Gives me some ideas for my own project for a mobile router platform.
I'm glad you found it useful
NICE!~!! Thanks bro!
Just bought myself the same Bosch table saw. Great idea to have the trolley - will definitely help to have it more mobile. Some interesting comments from the blog members on dust collection / removal. Is your normal dust vacuum sufficient to remove all the saw dust or does it still accumulate between the base of the saw and the top of your trolley? Could potentially require you to remove the saw from the trolley to clean the excess saw dust. I like the idea of an opening in the trolley top with a small drawer to collect the dust - will facilitate easy cleaning.
Great video - thanks for the useful content.
My extraction is pretty powerful so I don't get much, but I like the idea of the drawer for cleaning
Built something very similar for my dewalt 745 table saw. I later added an outfeed table and side wing so in effect it’s a cabinet saw of sorts and separate to my MFT, as I’m fortunate enough to have the space. Great work John, hope the back’s ok, nightmar3 when it goes.
Its on the mend again Darren thanks
Hi John, really useful video thanks. Please will you put up a link to the castors you used? Thanks
I bought them locally, but if you Google 75kg castors you will find them
I've got the Porter Cable job site saw. I haven't looked at it to see how hard it would be to take off the built in collapsible mobile base. It's on wheels large enough to navigate rough terrain around job sites. I wonder if it would be worth taking it apart.
Might be worth a go if you only use it in your workshop
Thanks for the video, I was able to knock one out. It fits perfect for my small area.
Glad I could help
I'm going to get my 1st table saw. This looks a great set up but I'm just a beginner but it's inspiring for all of us no matter what level we're at.
Good luck!
Looks great. It changed my mind on the type stand I was going to build. Thank you.
You are welcome.
You put out great content! Thinking of something similar in the center of my shop. Would love to see how you tie in your dust collection and power for the saw.
I have a couple of videos on the power and extraction, I made a hose with built-in power lead that has a quick couple that connects to all my tools and it's remote switchable.
It’s so much easier when you don’t have to set anything up to use.Great build and I like that everything is at a hands reach thanks for sharing
A quick setup is so much better
John, this is a beauty. I will use your plan for my Bosch as well, thank you.
Glad to help
Perfect design for what I was looking to do. Great video!
Glad you like it!
Great build John. Looking to replicate this soon 👌
Go for it!
Nicely done sir
Great job John I can think of a couple of uses for this type of construction in our workshop .
Glad you liked it Eddy
You make it look so easy John :) So well done!!!
Awesome vid fella.
Just what I've been searching for.
Thanks.
Have a good 'un.
Glad it helped
I just finished mine.
It took alot longer to build than yours did though.
And I'll be hoovering up that kitchen for weeks...
(That's where I made it)
It's just the job, though.
Cheers again.
Brilliant. Will make it my next project👍🏻😊
Cheers
Well done John!
thanx4post
NOOIVCE!
I need a table saw asap. Really don’t know if to get this Bosch or the DeWalt with the better fence.
I have not used the Dewalt so can't help you there
I've got the dewalt and it's a really good saw, but to honest any saw from the main manufacturers will be good.
