Oi Delboy! Thank you so much for those Videos, I was going mad when I couldn‘t fix the rear brackets and only after watching this Video I figured out I had to remove that plastic cableholder to finally make enough space. I‘ve been watching nearly all of your Bonneville Videos, they are fantastic. I have no background in any sort of crafts, let alone mechanical education or even talent, but because of your videos I was able to customize my Bonneville to my taste in such an easy fashion. Thanks for putting in the time and doing it with such a great attitude and easygoing mentality. All the best from Vienna, Austria.
Filter masks with activated charcoal (micro granular carbon) in the paper for spray paints, and coatings. Nitrile gloves for gas, oils, greases. I live in a town with four oil refineries Del. The old guys who were careful working with hydrocarbons, solvents, and particulates at 30 years old are still with us at 70 + years old. You and Penny are both a hoot Del. We want you around for a long time.
Thanks mate, i appreciate the kind concern, we take the main precautions when we're doing proper paint jobs, and Penny doesnt even enter the garage...but its never more the a rattle can as we're in a residential environment and houses close all around us...i dont own a spray gun for that reason....take care and thanks for watching.. all the best.. Del.
looks good. Penny will be out running around no time flat. Got my bike out today first time this year smiling like a cheshire cat. Still got brake and clutch fluids to change will not take long to do that thanks to your vidios Dell.
Thanks William... Penny loves it already and there's more to come yet! Well done on getting your bike on the road, it is an amazing feeling, isn't it! Good luck with the little chores, let us know if you get stuck, RSMF, D&P
Fitted mine today Del,as the front frame bracket plate was rusty and I too thought the alloy guard was a bit ' bright ', got a mate to powder coat both items. Can recommend for Penny the clutch cable cover and bracket which looks very classy. My only complaint now is the headlamp brightness which is lousy and needs upgrading.
Ha ha Roger, that is spooky....we'll be fitting the clutch cable cover and billet bracket later in the week, its sitting on the bench ready to go.. great minds think alike aye..!
Not exactly sure, but I believe you can get semi-opaque tints for that... as then it gives you just a little transparency... I'd check their website for details... Del
It looks identical the Triumph OEM one, even the brackets and such. Really a great little addition in terms of looks, really like the plasti-dip touch, though I'd think stone chips would crack it and lead to peel, no?
Doing the wheel rims on the scrambler with the plasti dip would be an interesting mod. A cheap alternative to powder coating and giving it that 2014 look.
I like your thinkin Steve, we'll be boogieing with the Plastidip a fare bit more yet,.... I want to paint all the remaining orange bodywork on the Tiger....and after watching Johnny Cactus' video on dipping Jenny's America rims...im proper tempted...
great again well up to your standards my i make one suggestion you move the loome running along the frame on to the top of the mounting bracket with a cable tie to stop it getting trapped between the bash plat and frame if it get hit hard
After ending the video, i thought more about it and went back and did just that... it wasn't trapped, but im happier with it free and flexible, tucked it next to the bracket and its safe as houses.
Moonfleet41 pennys bike looking sweet now i did not think you had trapped it i was warred if it got hit it may have been damage and then brocken down all the best paul
@moonfleet41 yeh it's something I'm considering too. Bought an 08 tangerine/silver scrambler and I'm tempted to do the rims black and remove all the badges and knee pads from the tank and do the tank Matt black. Perhaps putting on a older style triumph decal on the tank might give it an old school look. Really like the jack pine scrambler you may of seen it. Not sure how decals would fix to plasti dip tho but could be interesting.
Hi Steve, if you're using Plastidip you can stick decals over it, but they'll only be stuck on as well as the Plastidip is... a little trick I've seen is buy two decals, stick one on top of the other, then Plastidip over the top and peel off the top one as a mask... you can then use the Plastidip glossifier over the top of the whole lot to seal it in and stop the edge peeling back... and as the glossifier is matt it won't ruin the looks you're after!
Del, you got me thinking about trying hydrograpic dipping and clear coating on that plastic coat now.. Do you think it will hang onto wheels with out a lot of scuffing first? I know it's kinda new to us all as far as what a couple years time would do but I see potential with artwork on it too. You make me think good stuff...
Hey Milo, always an honour to hear from you! The Plastidip has some kind of adhesive formula that sticks it to shiney surfaces, so it doesn't need the key that paint does... many people have had success coating wheels with it, in fact the Plastidip industry even makes a special spray nozzle for wheels, which is like a stick that pokes between alloy wheel spokes and sprays out the sides like the holes in a flute! and you pass the stick inbetween the spokes as you spray... The secret seems to be coating up enough thickness to make a real tough rubber layer... I've been practising on a few tiles and it seems the only achilles heel would be not coating round the back of something to get a grip and make a proper skin... if you spray on a flat surface, without lapping over the edge and a bit round behind, then the edge peels back by itself! I think to combine this with your hydro-dipping would be awesome, so much so, that perhaps you should contact Fonzie, the guy who runs the website and the company and maybe work with him in some way to your mutual benefit... he seems like a top guy and a very professional painter... just like you. Good luck with it, mate, I'll be watching, best wishes, as always, Del & Pennyx
Another smashing bit of kit from TEC. Looks great plasti-dipped matte black. Love that Bonnie. You can tell Penny's excited with the bike, and rightly so. Penny, is the ride living up to your expectations over the Harley. It would be interesting to hear how you're finding it. In less than twenty takes please :-D Tons of riding this weekend. Had a blast. All the best you two! Peter
Hi Peter, Penny here! Did manage to get out and ride on Friday (had to work Saturday and it rained all day today grrr!), but yes, loving it, was a bit light and fesity compared to the Iron, but once at the top of the road I was fine... 8 stone lighter than the Iron, was amazing what a difference that makes ... within 5miles it was like I'd always ridden it! Weather forecast looks dry tomorrow, so looking forward to getting some more miles done then... but initial thoughts are that I have definitely made the right decision, I love it! Glad to hear you've had good weather there and enjoying your Enfield, Peter, ride safe, Penny x
Looks really good mate, love these videos; even though I don't own the same bike, still inspires confidence to do more on my own. It should also be said Thank you to Penny for capturing it; I'm usually too absorbed by the video itself, which is only a testimony to the camera work. Looking forward to the next one mate.
Thank you my friend, that's very kind. She tried real hard to make a good job of the image work, and like all 'behind the scenes' people on video...they dont get the credit for the skills they have... glad you like the videos, and thanks for watching.. Del.
Very nice install and nice job on the paint !!! Has a very nice look, this bike is coming right along. lol You can tell Penny loves thus,,, Keep up the great work brother. Ride Safe,,,
Thank you kindly buddy, got a few more mods planned yet... more to deal with the aesthetics and all the planning is her own work, I'm just the spanner monkey! She has an eye for style does our Penny! RSMF Del
Hi again Del, you were right about V-maxes having poor finishes etc. If you would like to see the V-max take a look at my RUclips channel, were you will find my latest video on the V-max. Also it turned out to be the V-Boost model.
Indeed, if I ever get access to that dimension, I'm looking forward to finding all the tools I've lost, lent out and dropped under the bench (and they'll no doubt be a pen there, a boiled sweet and a few pennies lol!)...
Hey D+P, looking good so far, silly question time, I've heard lots of different things about the Tiger but the main one I wanna know is how was it for comfort (rider and pillion) and any problems etc, and as you've done a long rung to ACE café I thought I'd ask you, I'm looking at changing my bike and I'm looking at a Tiger 800 or 955 or a V Strom 650 and the main thing that's important to me is the comfort as I knackered my back in the past and I want a cumfy bike basically :) cheers, keep up the good work
Hi Paul. we cant praise the Tiger enough, after 3 hours to London it was almost too soon to get off, no back ache, no numb bits and that goes for both of us, the seat is really long and gives two adults a really roomy space to realx and spread out...no huddling together likt smaller bikes......the motor is smooth and torquey like an engine half as big again, just endless low down grunt that never seems to stop pulling and never struggles...the bike was released long before "Ewan and Charlie" and the new age term "Adventure Bike" were popular... when it came out it was just a big all terrain touring bike..one that could handle bad roads and speed humps without noticing.. kind of like a Range Rover.....the lovely looong travel on the suspension is just sumptuous andsmooth, but never wallows or weaves.... the one thing i can say to sum up the tiger 955i, is that if it was a car... it'd be a Lexus 4X4...! They are tall though, todays new offerings like the 1050 and Explorer have much lower and narrower seats, the 955i seat even at lowest click is a reach for me at 6ft tall....but in some ways i like that as it just makes you feel like you're on a massive lorry and surrounded by safety and comfort... go try one out mate, you'll love it.. Hope that helps.. De.
ha ha, we get that a lot.... the Bonnevile does flirt with your head aye...its just such a little honey, and round the traffic gets more looks than the modern bikes... Px
Ha-ha. .. Have to get a house ordered first! .. Hopefully that will be dne n the next 45 days. .. Don't know what I'm going to do for another bike yet. Still have my eye on Victory and of course Harley but Triumph may be an option.
Vanrocco66 I just checked out this link that's an incredable price for what you'd get. Much better than what I paid for my Custom Chrome Softail in 2001. It only came with the Rev Tech 88 & 5 spd. heck maybe I should sell it & buy one of these! Got me thinking now
Looks great in black, bike looking fantastic.Do you think usin plasti dip on indicator brackets and flashers would be to much of a fiddle as mine need earthing as chrome at the mo?
hi Peter, this stuff will stick to almost anything....certainly metal or plastic indicator brackets...and if you don't like it you can just peal it off to no detriment...you don't scuff or key the surface, just degrease it properly first and layer up lots of coats... good luck with it... Del.
shall give it a go just was thinking as you said a great point on getting the edges done well to not peal back,as i will have to scrape for earthing them after...oh well try and test i guess from novice pete...thanks
No Steve, its the same classic Bonneville sound, just a little deeper and more bassy, it will be louder too once we get it remapped and cut the baffle down..
Bloody lovely, looks like a factory fit :-)) For some reason i was thinking oiled rubber washers, but im a bit odd that way ha ha, mental suggestions do worry me at times lol :-)
You have been a busy boy od late Del, I hope PP appreciates all this work (I'm sure she does) nice touch PP look good, why not paint it Gold to match the bike I know ladies like thing colour coordinated LOL
I think to paint it gold would work if i was a pimp...and maybe go with some chrome rims too aye..lol But subtle it is, and we have some really classy changes still to come.. And of course i appreciate Del's hard work...why have a dog and bark yourself aye...lol take care Geoff, see you both at Swindon..Love, Penny.x
I love your videos. Great how to videos on the Triumphs. Do you have to remove the plate to change your oil? Also why not paint it with the bed liner paint?
looking great mate, well done for the updates, it must feel weird knowing thousands of people are watching you, its like watching Coronation street, lol, we all feel we know you and penny so well!!!, bet Penny cannot wait for the idiot collective days out!!, regards
Sure thing Baz... perhaps we should change our names to Jack and Vera lol! Penny loves the Collective meets, everyone is so kind and so lovely to her, and it's amazing meeting all our friends in person... and as for knowing thousands of people are watching, I try not to think about it cos it's just a bit scary! Are we gonna see you at Swindon Baz?? Be lovely to meet you mate... Del
Stones chip it too easily, you need a softer more absorbent product, which is why they put specialised stone chip paint on car bumpers, etc., the vinyl is still intact and un-marked 1000 miles later!
Moonfleet41 makes sense. getting mine Bonnie in 2-3 months, getting ideas for works and upgrades on this stage while closing budget. also love working on my bikes myself :)
Sleeping policeman, I love it :D. Btw, are you sure you're not sponsored by TEC Bike Parts? Because it really feels like a huge product placement advertisement ;).
Ever since we first mentioned TEC parts when I bought the shocks for my Scrambler, we have had literally hundreds of emails thanking us for the recommendation as people have bought them, saved a packet of money and loved them to bits! Not only the shocks, but with their other parts too, especially the exhaust at £500 cheaper than an Arrow! As we've already mentioned, Penny had a substantial chunk of the budget left after selling her Harley and buying the Triumph, so we invested in half a dozen upgrades from TEC... we aren't promoting TEC bike parts to help them, but simply for the same reason as everything else we post, to help our fellow bikers save money and find the best deals! After all, would you not pass on the link of a great supplier to your friends if you had the chance?? So just spreading the good word mate...and nothing more! Nobody has ever paid us to advertise anything for them... I wish! ...Del

Simple and effective, like it. The many uses for plastidip. Thinking maybe using it to paint the inside lower part of a clear windshield.
Not exactly sure, but I believe you can get semi-opaque tints for that... as then it gives you just a little transparency... I'd check their website for details... Del

Looks very smart Del! Especially for a 'quick' paint job :)
Thanks Mark, it would never do in silver, so a quick blast over with the Plastidip and it looks a whole lot better!
Bane use your power to make Delboy wear a mask!! Beautiful bash plate my dear x
He thinks I do not have power over him... how little he knows me!

Thanks Nige, proper bargain eh? And will save a darn sight more than it cost if you belt a kerb or a rock!
Your “Disappears into another dimension” comment did make me laugh. We’ve all had that happen.
Indeed, if I ever get access to that dimension, I'm looking forward to finding all the tools I've lost, lent out and dropped under the bench (and they'll no doubt be a pen there, a boiled sweet and a few pennies lol!)...

'Ave it indeed! Fifty sovs to you guv, and I'll even paint it black!
oh go on then sonny, but i`ll need it by tonite, lol !!
I got a speed triple, but you're making me lust for a Bonnie :)
ha ha, we get that a lot.... the Bonnevile does flirt with your head aye...its just such a little honey, and round the traffic gets more looks than the modern bikes... Px

No Steve, its the same classic Bonneville sound, just a little deeper and more bassy, it will be louder too once we get it remapped and cut the baffle down..
Another good on, that plasti dip stuff is cool
Sure is Carleton... I just wish it was a realistic price!! £15 a can with postage is a bit rich for a temporary product...!
Moonfleet41 as we say here in yorkshire " AAAAAAAAAAH MUUUUUCH" Robbin buggers! Duct tape sounds cheaper! ;)
Bloody lovely, looks like a factory fit :-))
For some reason i was thinking oiled rubber washers, but im a bit odd that way ha ha, mental suggestions do worry me at times lol :-)
Thanks mate, its a well made part, and fits really well to the bike... which is more than can be said for some custom parts...

TomJunWing Hi Tom, yeah, just drop it off to change the oil and filter...and Bed liner is ugly as sin, works though i guess..
Will the sump guard have any problems with a center stand?
No Mark, it stops before it gets to the stand pivot.!
looking great mate, well done for the updates, it must feel weird knowing thousands of people are watching you, its like watching Coronation street, lol, we all feel we know you and penny so well!!!, bet Penny cannot wait for the idiot collective days out!!, regards

Have you got a bash plate breeding programme on the go 😜
Maybe......but certainly a Triumph breeding programme...lol
Many women treat themselves to a SPA Day or some Retail Therapy, not Penny though, she treats herself to a Sump Guard...there we are haha
Is a sump guard not retailed then..? some girls just have their priorities right aye...Lol.
haha too right mate ;)
why not professional powder coating Del?
Stones chip it too easily, you need a softer more absorbent product, which is why they put specialised stone chip paint on car bumpers, etc., the vinyl is still intact and un-marked 1000 miles later!
