Baltimore Fiddle Fair 2012 - Dirk Powell with Foghorn String Band

Friday evening at the marquee at Casey's Hotel of Baltimore Ireland. Declan McCarthy introduces the performers and recalls the Foghorn String Band's journey to their first fiddle fair. In keeping with the spirit of the fiddle fair, all musicians START OFF playing fiddles most energetically. Also, Foghorn are also not only one of my favorite bands, but are good friends as well. My brother-in-law was the recording engineer on several of their albums, and we have picked and grinned together on numerous occasions (a good dollop of whiskey helps!).

Saw Dirk play tonight with Eric Bibb in Chicago at The Old Town School - awesome performance by all involved! He played banjo, fiddle, and accordion. Not a bad note to be heard! :-)
