*CHAPTER V UPDATE:* For anyone wondering about my Chapter V video, you'll have to wait until Chapter VI to see any of it. Because, to my shame, I at some point failed to transfer the footage for my long-delayed Chapter V review to a new hard drive, and apart from some random stills and stray clips, all that footage no longer exists. Completely deleted, and nowhere to be found on six different drives and two computers. (I checked everything!) So I'll share those surviving bits and recap my thoughts on Chapter V along with covering Chapter VI when it releases. Thomas has just confirmed that Chapter VI is recording next month, in May, so a release by the end of summer appears likely (as long as Thomas doesn't delay to add more music, like he did with Chapter III!). I'm looking forward to finally, FINALLY getting another of these videos out there to celebrate the occasion with everyone! :)
I love Chapter IV with all my heart. It’s my favorite solo Bergersen work to date. It’s just so freaking huge and intricate. You can tell this was one he was especially passionate about

When I listened to the album for the first time, I was in complete darkness. That moment I heard "FIRE" in "Made of fire", I felt a rush of adrenaline, almost like primal fear (from fire?). For "rocket to the moon", the drop at the end to me is the engines turning off and the rocket drifting into space.
I absolutely agree with this comment to a T! I loved both of these songs so much, especially Made of Fire: I love how is starts, like a small, beautiful flame sparking your interest, but then completely blazes out of control in suspense, only to just fizzle out peacefully, like real fire 😭 Rocket to the Moon is absolutely fantastic, I almost feel nostalgic with confidence to this one! And another favorite was Cruising in Space 😆 like this album is just all around way ahead of its time. I feel so privileged to be on earth with Mr. Bergersen!!
@@jessarikastar Some tracks on these albums really have an acquired taste. Cruising in space is much more enjoyable to me now than on first listening. And Made of Fire... That was a special one, gor sure. But the more I listen, the more I understand that it couldn't be more made of fire. This track is mesmerizing, hypnotic, it attracts the eyes like fire attracts flies, but with a feeling of impending doom looming over. Then, it blows up into a firestorm.
I listened to this through the first time, really feeling like going into space and exploring, I hadn't heard one million voices before and I thought at first this was the first contact with alien life but the longer I listened the more it felt like a celebration of various (and new otherworldly) human cultures, maybe on other planets. it hit different!
@@TheWhoniversalMan apparently a friend of mine (we both love Thomas) sent it to me around when it came out, I queued it up while was working and didn’t pay attention when it came on. So I had heard it, I just did not remember it at all. She was laughing at me when I sent it back like “check out this new Thomas song”
I remember being at my dads house and during half the day I only found out that Thomas released Chapter IV, and when I tell you my jaw never dropped so hard…. It was completely out of nowhere but I am not complianing!!
Obviously Cruising through Space is supposed to be a huge part of the story as every other song but it has to be one of my favorite songs of all times. I think Thomas is going to have to reach past peak human performance to show what he is trying to do through Meredith. Difficult thing.
Judging by Thomas’ intentions to take Chapter 4 in a space/scifi direction, I agree with you that One Million Voices doesn’t feel really at home here. Cruising In Space is growing on me multiple listens in and just might be among my favorite songs of all time. On the down side, I’m not too impressed with the sound quality in some songs - poor compression and mixing in some cases which is evident in this chapter more than the other ones. With that said, Ch 4 is still probably my favorite of the ones so far, narrowly beating 1. I’m still hopeful that songs from Neon Nights (especially Arcade Master) will make an appearance in the three remaining chapters.
I'll take "Arcade Master" in whatever form Thomas chooses to release it! It seems Chapter I might have been a good place for it theme-wise (and since it's so short!). "Please Don't Go" fits the emotional arc I saw in the album, but doesn't really fit the style of the album very clearly to me... a future chapter about "loss" or something might have been appropriate. And heck, "One Million Voices " would have fit nicely on Chapter I, right? Probably right after "L'Appel du Vide!" I don't mind the compression in Thomas's music usually (though some Dragon tracks sounded particularly messy to me as a result of it), but he stated twice that the CD release of Humanity will be less compressed for the sake of his audience. (He previously stated that he likes the way his music sounds and that Humanity's CD release wouldn't be any different, but I guess people got through to him after Chapter II!)
Some people decided to interpret everything as sci-fi and forgot what the album was supposed to be about in Thomas' vision. The only truly sci-fi piece on the album is Cruising in Space. Chapter IV is focused on existence, Please Don't Go is a very tense existential tragedy, I'm pretty sure that is why it's in there. One Million Voices is there because Humanity is a key part of the planet. Elemental tracks are about the elements, but also about Earth (the sky, oceans). Nature isn't explicitly represented, the only reason I can think of is that it falls under the elemental tracks.
This chapter is about humanity's exploration of the earth (the elemental tracks) and space, to find our place in the universe. Not really sci-fi/alien stuff. It's called humanity after all.
Caleb, I have to wonder if Chapter 4 is not really about space, but about finding the wonders without leaving. That is why '1 million voices' fits. It is about the journey. The idea of Alien could be about those who are more unknown to us. Just my thoughts. Kepp up the good work!
Thanks for the review. keep up the good work. Having listen myself to this chapter several times I also like it very much. stand out tracks 'Cruising in space' (my fav), 'One Million Voices' (a masterpiece which we already know by heart) and 'Made of air'. other tracks are also good but a bit too 'soft' or 'slow' to my taste as I personally enjoy more the dynamic style of TB. Overall I'd rank this chapter at 2nd place after chapter 1 which was the best and most even so far (loved almost every track on that chapter), chapter 2 comes in 3rd place (we are legends and the stars are coming home were amazing but rest of the chapter was meh) and chapter 3 is in last place (beautiful music just too lovey dovey to my taste)
Awesome video ! My theory on the album : Space for Rent is the realisation that space is big, we are just floating on this rock and we could start to explore this new world beyond the sky. With Apollo, Rocket to the Moon and Cruising in Space, humanity is big and adventurous. We are explorers of the universe, adventurers... The Made of ... tracks represent the discovery of new worlds even beyond our solar system, but they are also an echo of the past, reminding us of ancient greek thinkers reflecting on the nature of our world and mater. Made of Fire and Please don't go are the change of pace. They show us that the universe can be harsh, it doesn't care about destruction and loss, and it can be scary... Dear Mr. Alien is this desperate piece about how awful humanity can be, but also that there's still hope somewhere... With Rocket to the Moon (Reprise), I think we can assume it's the symbol of the astronaut returning home. In this case, Rocket to the Moon could mean returning to the moon (and earth) from a long journey... The lyrics could explain this too ("Wishing my rocket would go faster"..."I'm on my way to you"). So Small is the final realisation that the universe is incredibly big, and that we are just specks of dust in this universe... We don't really mean anything in this vastness... But we are still beautiful and hopeful ("see our beauty... we are so small").
This is unrelated to this video, but I would like to hear your thoughts on the takedowns in the Spider-Man games. I find it frustrating that the player looses control over the camera. In the Arkham games you can line up the next takedown while in the middle of the current one. Am I missing something? Is there a reason every takedown has to take the camera control away?
Odd place to make this comment, but that's a good point! There have been a couple times the game has glitched and left me in control of the camera during a takedown, and it's sort of a nice change of pace. I also like doing takedowns when taking down criminals inside a shop, because you get a different perspective there as well. I do think some of those animations look quite cool, but I don't think it would hurt to essentially do what Arkham City did, where all the slow-mo zoom-ins during takedowns were removed, but the final blow being in slow motion was maintained. Being able to override the camera movement with the right stick would be nice, too-maybe it could stay somewhat zoomed in, but let you choose a different angle if you wish. Or even have a toggleable "cinematic camera" in the settings.

@@angelolima4811 Thomas answered a question on Instagram and said he thinks he'll Creatures of the Forest in early 2024. Longer than I'd like for sure, and that makes me nervous we wouldn't see Chapter VII until something like mid-2025, five years after Chapter I!
@@TheWhoniversalMan originally every chapter was supposed to release every 6 months but I guess it was delayed after the tours and probably that will be right hope its for the reason that he is making us tour which would be amazing on there second tour in Europe they already started playing the humanity pieces for the first time
Sadly January came and went :(
