    How is this a hard sell ? I have solar and my electricity bill is $24 a month, 2300 square foot house with three people living in the house. This should be a big plus for both buyer and seller. Electricity is not getting cheaper and will be going up.

    It's so nice for the State to put the word out, after these people have been knocking doors for years! All the ads online about how "Florida requires Floridians get their solar for free". I have never received anything from the state to confirm that. What a bunch of standard operating procedure in Florida. We'll tell you how to secure yourself after there are thousands of people running into trouble. And we still don't have clear knowledge how Homeowner Insurance companies look at the matter. When I ask the door knockers what happens if my roof is damaged in a storm, how does it get replaced if it has solar panels attached, and they say "we would come and remove the panels and they have a 'lifetime' guarantee". Yeah, as long as that company is still around for the rest of my life. Too many questions and not enough clarification and legal protection from the state. Any of these companies who sell to elderly should lose their licenses immediately

    Solar panels don't last forever. They wear out with time. I've had solar panels that lost 50% of their efficiency after 10 years, although that varies. Sure, they come with a 20 year warranty, but will that company still be around 15 years from now? What happens when you need a new roof? How much will it cost to have all the solar panels removed and then reinstalled after a new roof?

    Everything on and in your house depreciates. The main difference is solar panels are the only asset that will pay for itself and then some over time. In addition although they do depreciate they last longer than almost any other part of your house with a warranty of 25 years from almost all manufacturers.

    You never mentioned that you may have power when the grid may be down…by the way - the solar panels do not penetrate the roof - where did you get that guy? The hurricane last October 2023 that went thru Tampa area - there is a small city with 2000 homes all solar powered and not a one had their roof effected- the Air Force base their all the homes have solar power on their roofs and they also experienced no issues.

    First thing is to beware of "shady" salesman and companies who go door to door. Check the credentials', licenses and background of the companies. A professional company with W2 insurance for ALL its installers will cost more but complete a professional installation with the highest quality materials and warranties. Those cheap companies are nothing but trouble as in the end you get what you pay for long term on the home. Also most panels these days have an 85% efficiency guarantee or better after 25 years, and will continue generating beyond that well after 40-50 years. With all the sunshine in the sunshine state of FL it's a no brainer to install solar by a professional company for all the sunshine savings and 30% tax credit! when a homeowner pay in cash for solar they won't have any other issues. Get your facts straight before you report misinformed FAKE NEWS!!

    • @richardnwilson
      @richardnwilson 3 месяца назад

      Current solar panels will never be obsolete as long as we require 60 Cycle electricity at 240 volts which is what the US has been using since the dawn of the electric age. It's nothing like a cell phone which won't even work after 6 or 8 years. New panels may put out more power for dollar spent or per square foot on your roof but as long as they're working they will be profitable.

    • @richardnwilson
      @richardnwilson 3 месяца назад

      @@FourthWayRanch that's not true anymore. In most places if you take out a home equity loan with payments equaling your projected Savings in electricity for your system you will finish paying back the loan in less than 10 years. So for the first 10 years you won't pay any extra money at all and after 10 years you have free electricity for the life of the system.

    There’s no savings with solar or wind. It’s extremely expensive. You could pay a $200/month power bill for 30years and still come out ahead.

    • @jrvane11
      @jrvane11 3 месяца назад +3

      Not entirely accurate. There are so many variables regarding solar systems and potential savings. Much of the cost of these systems is for labor, so if you DIY it, your break even point could be as little as 5 years, leaving you with 15 to 20 years of free energy.

      @@jrvane11 Nothing's free. Especially anything to do with the Solar Panel game and the EV game. I haven't played with the Solar Panels yet, but I have owned an EV. The range anxiety was the biggest problem. I got rid of the EV as soon as Tesla started talking about dropping prices and wound up losing 22K. Had I waited another few weeks the loss would have been closer to 40K. Full EV's should be totally discontinued. Hybrids, while much less problematical....they still need better repair infrastructure to tamp down the very high pricing for repairs. Tire prices...wow, forget it with EV's. For now, my wife and I decided to go with a Honda ICE...when Hybrid becomes more mature, I'm sure we will dive back in. I know this was supposed to be about Solar, but just trying to save others some of the headaches.
