Raw unfiltered, unaltered audio here. What are the best mic gain and compression settings? I'll show you how I setup the mic gain and compression on the Icom 7610 (also 7300) using a WGA TR-2000 headset.
I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my RUclips channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

Awesome thanks Rich. Sounding great!
I think you will sound better and fuller with 75 % alc on peeks and more compression. I have found this from on air tests with my 7610. I run comp at 4 with mic gain at 45.
You have helped me so many times with your videos, thank you for time and effort 👍👍👍
Your wga something r 2000 headset. You must be very proud.
hello a great video best 73
I've never understood why operators always tell other operators that their audio is great when it sounds like a 1920s telephone. Is it based upon clarity or intelligibility?
This is exactly how I want my audio for my streams. How do u get your processed transmitted audio on your stream. Thank U. 73
It's nice to hear from you and thank you for commenting. With the newer transceivers with a USB connection, I use their USB Audio CODEC when choosing a microphone in the broadcast software. I use OBS streaming software. Then in the radio settings I use the Monitor function and that will add my transmitted audio . GL and best 73!
What about the drive gain? I'm not sure how to balance the drive gain, mic gain, and compression
Excellent question. This should help. It is from a Adam: I adjust Drive Gain (DRIVE) in RTTY mode, with RF Power at 100W or 100% and it is not necessary to readjust the Drive Gain control when changing bands. See: www.ab4oj.com/icom/ic7700/drive.html Best 73!
The end of the ALC bar is actually 50%, so you are peaking 25%, I set my ALC to be at the end of the red alc bar, which is 50%
Hello and great question. No the red bar extends 1/2 of the entire scale. I am referring to the red bar. 30% to 50% of the red bar. That is what I look for in mine. See: ruclips.net/video/WFat-4iUpl0/видео.html Best 73!
@@HamRadioAdventures ahh that explains it. Thank you
VA7WXZ I thought you sounded great when you increased the compression....
See the full article with sample audio: www.k0pir.us/setting-up-mic-gain-and-compression/
You should turn the mic gain up when th compressor off. Then adjust compression. You sound like you're in a tin box.
One thing, your not setting drive gain correct. You set mic gain comp off. Turn comp on and adjust drive gain till alc is between 30-50% alc. I just got a 7610 and manual states this is how you set drive gain
Would anybody happen to have the correct settings for Adonis 708E and IC7300? I can't quite get it to sound right.. Pulling the hair from my head here
Man, you encourage a lot to go to your website but the website has sooooo much ads that is so annoying!! I tried but quit, impossible to access the website from a smartphone with so many ads. I get it, ads give you revenue but turn it down a couple of clicks if you really wants people to visit.
