- This project started during the fall of 2021 looking for a suitable site and taking detailed measurements. In winter of 2022 we created a plan and stored materials and salvaged and restored windows. In spring, summer, and fall, we spent a full week on site, a week of prefabricating at home, and about 6 weekends building on site. It totaled about 30 days of building. This video is an introduction to progress so far, which is a mostly finished exterior.
The project continues in spring 2023! More videos to come.

Impressive!!! I love all the windows. I am looking forward to Fun with Tools with Dr. S.! LOL. I loved it. Great memories for the entire family! 😍
Thanks Catherine! We're excited to spend more time there doing projects and maybe even relaxing.
Great video
Great build
Question:
Why do we need permit to build?
Why do we have to follow codes?
I thought that building a treehouse/shed/cabin in our own backyard/land…we do as we please.
Beautiful. One of the best treehouse I've seen. Nice, stable structure.
❤
Looking forward to seeing how you do the interior.
My best friend, Great Good... !!! I wish you every day of your development.
Wow thats amazing 👍👍👍👍
99th subscriber. waiting for the other parts 😉👍
Thanks for the sub! The area just got two feet of snow, but we'll get back when it warms up!
Fantastic! Love the post in the middle, it looks amazing!
Two weeks posted. The future holds for the human species, Treehouse fun, times. 🙂😁🙂
Wow ypu use this kind of traditional levelling. That's pinoy idea. Im amazed that you using this!
Thanks, I followed what other treehouse builders have done, so it wasn't my idea, but it did work really well.
Excellent tree-house!!Good for them!
Great Job guys! next lets see you get the car running!
Nice! Just finished one. Thanks for uploading!
Glad you enjoyed it! We are close to finishing and will have more videos soon.
your ladder looks amazing... love the vid...
Thanks! I'll give credit where it is due, and the ladder design is based on a video from Nelson Treehouse. The other build videos and final reveal are now out as well.
love it! Fun family project. William says he likes the "big tower"
Thanks! Once we have railing installed, William can definitely come check out the big tower.
Hey Cory. Awesome treehouse and awesome video.
Since you invited questions:
Can you show how the beams attach to the trees, and how the whole structure accommodates movement of the trees?
Thanks! It's pretty wild up there on a windy day, it definitely moves. There are essentially 1" steel bolts in each tree that stick out a foot. The beams rest on these. Each bolt has a bracket to hold the beam down, and 1 bracket is fixed and 3 can allow sliding. We used cables or struts to give extra support to the free end.
We didn't get footage for all of the hardware, but I bought commercially available hardware from Nelson Treehouse, of Treehouse Masters TV show.

Great family project! Did you allow for wind & tree growth? I'm researching to build my 1st tree house.
We did try to follow best practices. I bought a how to book by Pete Nelson and followed pretty closely. I got TAB bolts from his site and used floating brackets on 3 of the 4 trees. They are expensive but more peace of mind. The tree diameter should be able to grow 6 inches without problems. Hopefully that will be 20+ years. Good luck on your project.
@@bigfamilyadventure thanks for the reply.
Wondering what the story is on the vehicle skeleton.
I might be able to learn details as we talk more with the neighbors. The property was in the same family for many decades, and relatives still live nearby. It has been there long enough for 80 foot trees to block it in. There is a tag that reads "Briggs Body Number 805" and a serial 125855. Some searching online looks like it could be a 1950 Plymouth. I'm not a classic car expert, so if anyone finds more, comment!
Just a thing of beauty. Thank you for sharing
Thanks! More to come this summer
Looks like an awesome build!
Thanks! Check out the other videos in the playlist if you haven’t already. The final reveal will be posted in a few weeks.
@@bigfamilyadventure sweet I will. We’re getting geared up for a tree house build on our property!👊
Can't wait for the interior and the guard rails on the deck
Me too! Santa brought some battery powered string lights. Should look great on the deck.
😍
Are you able to insure it?
We're looking into short term options, but long term will probably be an accessory structure on a homeowner policy - later on when we finish a cabin we are planning.
