A Guitar Center you tube video just popped up for me from Aug 24, 2023. Where they are giving Eric a Signature D-45. In the video the guy Mike Doyle who is talking with Eric about Derek and the Dominos, and acoustic guitar. Brings up Thorntree in the Garden, telling Eric, beautuful song and what Eric played etc. Then Eric corrects him and says " Well, that was Bobby playing. I love him dearly. Beautiful singer, like opera". ...It is the only song mentioned in the video, and you are the only musician named in it also. I am glad Eric set the record straight for Martin , Guitar Center, etc. Plus Eric still remembers and loves you and that time of music. If you haven't seen it yet , either you or Coco can watch it. Its under Guitar Center 2023 Crossroads Festival. It solidifies the great impact that you had and still have on epic music. Thank you and Coco for these uploads. They are a real treat besides being historic in seeing a legendary musician like you Mr. Whitlock, say it in your own words. Just a treasure. Peace , good health to you and everyone you care about, and a Happy Thanksgiving.
Richie Furay was also in Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills and Neil Young, before Poco and the Souther Hillman Furay band...Jim Gordon played drums for SHF too. I DO wish that Bobby had been a part of the Concert for George. The best songs write themselves, don't they? Wonderful stories all...thank you both!! ❤❤
I often wonder what if Eric rang your doorbell what the reunion would be like? No camera recording, no show to put on, just two old friends enjoying their time spent together. Life is short.
I've watched the Concert for George many times . While I appreciate there was only enough room on that stage for so many of George's friends and collaborators and only so much time to fit it all in there surely had to be enough room for Bobby . It would've made a fantastic event even better . As Bobby himself states in this clip it was their loss .❤️✌️
I saw a post on Reddit today. A young lady posted pictures of her grandmother and grandfather. 1:30 The pictures were taken in the early 1970’s. People were commenting he looked like a rock star before someone noticed who he actually was. Funny stuff. His first wife appeared on the Cher’s television show.
Thank you, Bobby, for Thorn Tree in the Garden....It's the Greatest Work on that album...and, recently, it has been a balm to my soul. I've been going through what has to be the worst period of my life- happening later in life than I would've wanted or anticipated- and that song is helping carry me through it.
Otis Gibbs has a great interview with Kevin Harrington on his RUclips channel I believe it’s titled “Beatles Roadie - I Held John’s Lyrics”. It recounts how he held the lyrics for John on the rooftop performance, as captured in the movie “Get Back”.
Yeah, I think Otis actually has 4 episodes that are interviews with Kevin Harrington. They’re all great. Love me some Otis - he’s compiled SO many excellent interviews with a great cross section of notable but often overlooked musicians and people who were central to so much musical history.
@@martinriepma5009 yeah...Otis is one of a kind.. Love his channel AND his songs. That Harrington collection of interviews was GREAT! You know, Otis having a sit down with CoCo and Bobby would be like the ultimate.
It’s so apparent through all of these entries through the years that Bobby still loves and respects Eric. Bobby’s never said a bad thing about Eric. I wish EC would reach out...Wouldn’t that be great?! Bobby is a sweetheart. Thx to you both for the stories💜
No wonder you look so young Bobby, always having a laugh with your beautiful intelligent wife CoCo! Derek & The Dominos LAOALS still my favourite album of all time! Your song, Thorn Tree in The Garden, and Sunday Morning Coming Down by Kris K. have got to be the saddest songs I’ve heard. Other than they are brilliant songs, you can’t help but get emotional listening to your voice! ❤🎸🇨🇦
Your current method of opening the entry into the creative zone now sure seems an improvement on the sleep deprivation process used years ago. Live and learn. Thanks for sharing valuable life lessons in such an artistic manner.
Hey Bobby and Coco - hope you are both thriving. I had to drop a note because I’m listening to ‘Little Wing’ (again) and I forgot just how astounding the vocals are. Heartwrenching, perfectly pitched and timed. Bloody beautiful. Timeless.
Hey Bobby, have you ever talked about playing on “Sweet Tea” with Buddy Guy. I was just watching an Otis Gibbs interview with Jimbo Mathus where he was discussing this session and I see that you are listed as playing piano. I believe that was 2001. Jimbo said the session ran about 10 days. Any memories to share?
Coco..you nailed it. CREATIVITY isn't limited to just ONE thing or area. When a person is creative, it comes out in diverse forms. So glad you told Bobby it takes more than 2 'trys'.😂 The 'gift' or 'plugging into the Universe' is the Magic that happens naturally. And Im thankful that you both keep sharing your life experiences with us.❤ You both are Inspirations to Keep at it-whatever 'IT' is that moves you.✌🏼
Thank you for the philosophical thoughts, the music history and the wonderful laugh! In one, Bobby said he could talk for days about Dicky Betts. Have I missed the one where he concentrated on the fantastic Richard Forrest Betts or is that still to come?
Had no idea Bobby was on a Manassas album! (Down the Road) I love that group, definitely one of my all time favorites! No wonder those keys sound so good!
I never miss a new video now that I have perused through the backlog. A joy!! I remember hearing a background song "why does love got to be so sad?" And didn't know anything else, not about Derek, not about Eric, not about Bobby, not about Layla..... and it was a 'buy' that (double!) album moment. But the true joy is being able to watch and hear Bobby (and Coco) all of these years later!!❤
That was a whole lot of fun lot of good laughter and some great stories. Sometime like you've shown his pictures you could show some of his woodworking or his jewelry that would be kind of cool 🤠✌️ Be safe as always guys. Lookin like the Texas oven finally getting turned off for a little while🥵
Bobby - Please tell the story of "Got to Get Better in a Little While". I've heard Eric play it live twice in recent years, but it was not on the Layla album. What's the back story??
I’m so happy to have been to Hurtwood Edge, never inside, but just to be in such a secluded area where such wonderful music, composed by Bobby and Eric has created so much pleasure, comfort and happiness for literally millions of people across the world. I very much doubt if this magical time could ever be reincarnated. I only mentioned Hurtwood because it is, in itself a magical, place like a clean white canvas upon which to express your joint artistic expression. Although I have saw you and Eric together with Jools Holland, which provided a brief reminder of how two such talented people were virtually heard as one, was great. But unfortunately I doubt if the magic could ever come together again. Perfection is hard to surpass.
Thrilled for this new video today!!! Enjoyed this so much, and hoping to hear more soon from you both. It does my soul good to hear Bobby cracking up!!! I love you both

Clapton's loss-big time loss. Bobby Whitlock will always be an essential part of the music scene during the Dominos/All Things Must Pass/Shelter People Era. Clapton should do something to change that "blackball" atrocity. Not fair to Bobby and it has been Clapton's loss as well. And exactly my feeling, the best Clapton involved EC song compositions are right there on the Derek and the Dominos recordings. Especially the songs where Bobby Whitlock is the co-writer. And yes, the Bangladesh concerts are missing the Whitlock keyboard magic, as are the EC live performances over the decades. And I must add, there has not been, nor will there ever be, a bass player on this planet better than Carl Dean Radle.
I love Bobby's laughter 😂 that was so hilarious! What kind of man is Eric if he let's some manager control him? Wow that's such a shame ..when Bobby says he won't play the games I'm curious about what he means!? Could he elaborate in a certain way on what these managers and shady people in the music business actually do to try and ruin people's careers?! If not I understand but it's a subject that should be talked about because that's not right at all!! ❤

Like everyone else that watches y'alls channel I look forward to new posts. The stories are always interesting and usually pretty damn funny. Having said that, this one's for the books! Here's a question, did Levon Helm ever visit The Plantation while you were there? I guess at one point Levon, Jesse Ed Davis, JJ Cale and John Ware tried putting a band together that never really got off the ground. One more thing, was Junior "Jimmie" Markham responsible for Leon to write "Shoot Out At The Plantation"? Y'all Take Care. Now if I could just find those shoes...
