Having trouble finding the diagnostic information for low fuel pressure while cranking. Target pressure is 4000 and pump is only making 1500. Duty cycle on fuel QUANTITY valve is only around 35%. Shouldn't it be higher during cranking to get pressure up quickly?
Awesome video. Was looking for pics of these components of the ecodiesel torn apart. Video even better. Wish it was for the Jeep (which has different fuel tank style than the Ram) but was still helpful.
Have 22 Ecodiesel 44,200 miles Loved it until it broke down this week. Had it towed to the dealer diagnosed that High Pressure fuel pump went out, took fuel rail all injectors all fuel system OUT!!! So my 22 is not recalled because supposibly mine came from the plant were the perfect trucks came from.....lol right. So warranty kicks in correct, But now they want proof of Services that are done by a professional!! I do my services I use correct filters, oils and rather service my own that trust someone. So they are looking for a quick blame... If running thru this suggestion you can Google lawyer that is Sueing them and join the law suit. I Will NEVER BUY A RAM NO MORE..
just to let you know if you find metal in your solenoid screen the system is now contaminared the metal is now in the injectors and fuel lines as the high pressure pump is after the fuel filter your goining to need to replace all lines and injectors. clean tank out new filters and lift pump.
Why do the lines need replacing? I understand pumps, injectors but why can’t the lines be blown out/cleaned? I have an issue with gasoline contamination, why can’t the lines be cleaned?
Thats a Bosch CP4 pump! I never would've thought that they would put the same HPFP in a 2.0L TDI Jetta and a 3.0L Diesel Ram. These pumps are notorious for failing. I blame poor US fuel quality. Failure rates are much lower across the border, in Canada, where fuel quality is noticeably better. I'd replace it with a CP3 pump. Many TDI owners have done that and those pumps are indestructable.
I very recently seriously considered purchasing a one-owner 2010 Jetta TDI with all of it's "advanced technology" diesel (no, I wasn't concerned about diesel-gate issues, which is mostly Govt EPA B.S. ) howEVER....on closer examination...what it comes down to is THIS: the "advantages" of fuel economy are GREAT.....BUT....WHENEVER ....A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G breaks on that engine system.....IT BREAKS HARD.....straight to....YOUR POCKETBOOK !! Ya think...that's ...by accident ?...?? Guess again....IT'S BY DESIGN. We are "sold" on diesels for DURABILITY-LONGEVITY....and YES, the older designs IMO were BETTER. Why ? SIMPLICITY, my Dear Watson.....whyyyyy it's SIMPLICITY !!! But NOW, in the "modern age" with ADVANCED DESIGNS.....one particle of DUST....can and will....D-E-S-T-O-Y...any of the main components...TO THE TUNE OF THOUSANDS IN REPAIR COSTS. One pointed example of the Eco-diesels "advanced design" is NOT keying their shafts ??? Are they NUTS for designing it that way....OR.....ARE WE NUTS FOR CONTINUING TO SUPPORT SUCH IDIOCY ? Hey, ya gotta support your local dealer with ALL THE BU$INE$$ he can get......right ? Just gotta make sure......"they keep a-comin' back for MORE PARTS AND SERVICE !!!" Yureka !!! Thanks for revealing the truth(s) about this FOREIGN DESIGN. (remember this design comes from where MANY cars ...ARE DIESEL....so ....shouldn't THEY know better ....from millions of miles of DIRECT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE ? Tell me that it's not a EUROPEAN INVASION OF OUR MARKETS in order to STEAL OUR HARD-EARNED MONEY ? nuff said....makes me MAD AS HELL that Fiat owns Dodge/Chrysler to begin with.....NOW we have evidence from the FRONT LINES of a REAL ROAD WARRIOR !! Thanks for the Vid man. Best of luck with those DEMONIC DUST PARTICLES.
+philip dias fuel filtration and running the tank low on fuel for 200,000 miles will. do nothing for fuel pump longevity. Cummins uses this same fuel pump. and Cummins uses this exact same hpfp. buying a. Cummins won't make anything magically better. no fuel pump lasts forever no matter what kind of vehicle it is.
what happens if a piece of debris falls into the diesel fuel tank by accident - does anyone know if there is a filter in the system to keep debris out?
If it falls into the tank, then the fuel filter will stop it from going into the engine. I believe there is netting around the fuel pump in the tank so it possibly won't even make it into the lines at all.
And my hemi ram 1500 has a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty can't get that with diesel My 08 has 370000 miles still under warranty can't beat that ford !! I keep vehicles a long time jumped on the Chrysler warranty best in the business dam good truck ! I was a Ford guy They give you 3 yours 36000 miles ?!? Bought a 2018 for driving my wife around and the 08 is for work both have lifetime warranties!!
RIP Man. Videos are here to stay and your legacy to help continues.

Is there any tips for videos on changing injection pump

yep. you are correct. the core I bought was grenaded at 15000 miles. cp4.2 and the new v8 Cummins uses the cp4.2
Thanks for sharing! Can hear that compressor working back there lol
“ it could fail your warranty “ is Rams favorite saying !
Thanks Shawn, always informative.

Where can locate the fuel rail sensor im having trouble to locate it
Mine had like a small blank or coating but it came off as one piece but it would pull apart, could that stuff be from the fuel filter?
The foam pads you speak of are the ones under the plastic engine cover correct?
should add a 2 micron cat fuel filter inline to protect those expensive pumps and nozzles
I've had one since 800 miles
And it still went kaput? It's too bad they did not use the Cummins 4L i4 in this truck.

Are they save able if clean in time . Like right after a bad fill up and flush
How do you get the fuel injector wire harness un-done ?

Fuel filter
Fuel filter
does anybody have a part number for the lift pump .. or an aftermarket replacement ???
Please I have a serious fuel delivery problem with my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD. Can you help me out?
This gentleman has passed away so he won't be able to respond. Just thought I'd let you know.
Did you say " fuel QUALITY solenoid"?
Talking about the cp4 pump too
I would think the cost of ownership would override the fuel savings, especially since the hemi is cheaper to start with
And my hemi ram 1500 has a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty can't get that with diesel My 08 has 370000 miles still under warranty can't beat that ford !! Not a a chance I've had both and the hemi costs 3×$ the fuel
Can I ask where you got your Ecodiesel service manuals?
He committed suicide
What's your current idle time?
a lot. I say it in the video twice. pay attention.
Didn't hear you say it once. Must have been when the compressor was running...
And tell me again why you idle it?
Try some amsoil diesel additives
Can a bad temperature prevent regent ON a eco diesel
samplex90011 yes it will
well done
I was about to ask him a question
This guy passed away???? wtf
Really?
