First time I ever heard MMJ was actually live and they played right before Pearl Jam at Lollapalooza maybe 09...these fkn guys melted my face off with their Okonokos song list. It’s always magical seeing a band live for the first time ever hearing of them, and such a bonus when they are this damn killer. This song is definitely a favorite, but really everything these guys do is fantastic. Happy to see all the stoke for these guys. 🤙
Such an ethereal song musically yet so grounded lyrically. Hadn't heard this song in quite some time. Describes so perfectly the way I feel for the unexpected love of my life!
I've been listening to this song the entire day! Couldn't leave it behind when I left...took the CD to the car. Played the entire CD several times today but this track is "pure ear crack" without a doubt. Everything about this song is outstanding!!! Too bad it's under 4min because it's EPIC.
Simple meloncholy verse ....sweet accoustic........skippy tight drums.....then it soars @1:18 and @2:48......stunning!!! Love the drums and bass ending.
I know I'm probably the douchebag on here for saying I discovered this band from their appearance on "American Dad", but they're notable to look up and because of it I am now a fan.
Incredible and orgasmic. Lyrics that are not just heard but felt. Vocals that blend with the instruments perfectly. This isn't a song, it's the precise description of how I'm feeling at this moment crammed into 3 minutes and 44 seconds....Endless
I just started liking them yesterday. I met a girl yesterday too..and this song seems to fit into yesterday...and hopefully the rest of my life if i make it through today
Who cares how anyone finds great bands; all that should really matter is that we all love great music. I found muse from guitar hero, my morning jacket from american dad, and other bands through the same ways. You have to start somewhere to find awesome music.
Nothing is as relaxing as My Morning Jacket. Who cares if you found out about them on American Dad, you liked them enough to research them and listen to them. Sit back, relax, and let the music carry you away.
Saw them at Melbourne Big Day Out 2009 they had massive fan action because it was 40 Celcius. Went to pub atfter Rocket Science then rocked out with Neil Young and consequently Prodidgy with all the beer tickets ever! ;) Yeeeww!
Just personally discovered these guys. There's some songs where they sound like The Band or the Dead. Sign of a muli-talented group and how well they've morphed together from their influences.
Who could see and not believe? The heart that beats the wavelength And who could say but never do Things they've said to someone who Thru all that's been and all will be So in line so thoughtfully In tune with you, so in time for me New thoughts arrive, so in time for me Who can count the time im beatin' with my hands? Who can stop the smoke from breathin' in my head? Words will come and words will go Make believe and overthrow Just believe and you can do You know my heart it beats for you It beats for you, so in time we beat Your heart aligns, so in time with me
i find it funny how i was looking around in the CD store, and i saw the album Z (i didnt know what it was back then). i thought it was pretty cool that it had a cartoonish artwork to the CD, so i looked at it. then, i checked it out on Itunes later that day and i liked the songs. turns out that albums with cartoonish artwork have good songs! lol
Trying to play this on guitar along to a metronome and I swear I cannot get it to sound right. I've found that it's 144 bpm but even trying it at several time signatures (despite that it's clearly common time) I really can't get it. Any ideas? Like it feels almost as though the guitar comes in after a beat and plays one beat off from everything else. I know I sound stupid maybe but it'd be nice to get figured out
@cristofolon same here, both are amazing. just wish i had heard about mmj back when i was listening to MM in 2004. sadly, american dad introduced me to them lol
Haven't listened to this in probably 13 years. Forgot it existed. One of the best feelings is rediscovering a great song.
Yep

This one of the thousands of songs on my ipod, which is on shuffle 24/7... Whenever this song comes on, I never skip it. Great song.
Derğağda her sabah dinlediyimiz bir eser inşaallah.

Perfección, excelencia, totalidad. Bravo! Bravo! Necesitamos lo mejor otra vez, por amor, por favor.
the whistling at the end.... sells the whole song. :))))
the whistle, it reminds me of the way sounds are experienced on entheogens... it is the sound of enlightenment! So amazing...
This song bloody rules.
this album changed my life
sSssurreal and brilliant
This is SO much better than my afternoon evening and night jacket.
The chorus just blows my mind to a euphoric place.
Greatest whistle solo ever. 3:00
Andrew Bird.
As soon as i heard the sound effect in the background i just got up my chair and turned it up.
The keyboard on the chorus?

I found this band when my favorite band The Slip opened for them.. Love this tune..
That whistling outro really reminds me of Meat Puppets. Good stuff
Amazing band!!
can’t stay away from this song, the end is magic
Love this!
The skippy drums and the way it soars at 1:18 ....2;48....
Saw them at Melbourne Big Day Out 2009 they had massive fan action because it was 40 Celcius. Went to pub atfter Rocket Science then rocked out with Neil Young and consequently Prodidgy with all the beer tickets ever! ;) Yeeeww!

I LOVE THEM
So beautiful...still.
so beautiful.
for some reason, whenever I listen to Z, I always think of the artwork of M.C. Escher.
I am glad American Dad picked out a band of genuine talent to use in *that* episode. One can actually believe Stan fell in love at first lyric.
My word,they are good.

What time signature is this in? It's Hypnotising. Yeah I know it changes at the bridge, but what is the true beat structure?

Who could see and not believe?
The heart that beats the wavelength
And who could say but never do
Things they've said to someone who
Thru all that's been and all will be
So in line so thoughtfully
In tune with you, so in time for me
New thoughts arrive, so in time for me
Who can count the time im beatin' with my hands?
Who can stop the smoke from breathin' in my head?
Words will come and words will go
Make believe and overthrow
Just believe and you can do
You know my heart it beats for you
It beats for you, so in time we beat
Your heart aligns, so in time with me

These people are so fucking trippy. It's awesome.
this song reminds me of a place i read in a children's boook called Gregor the Overlander, just very foreign but cool
