Most of the songs are about Matty, not Joe. "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" has so many obvious references to Matty, not Joe.

I think the smallest man who ever lived is about matty. He’s had a drug problem for a long time. She references this in other songs like I can fix him(no I really can) .
One song about Matty Healy? Lol pretty much the entire album is about Matty! She obviously fancied him for years before they finally got together. Guilty As Sin makes that quite clear! And The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived being about Joe? Is he really the 'buying pills' type? Come on. She is fuming that Matty ended the relationship so soon after he led her on.
I really think that there are shots at Joe in all the songs that are about Healy. Currently buying into the theory that she was playing mashups in the acoustic section because it’s about more than one person or thing.
@@MelanieLeanne926I went back to those mashups and oh, gosh!! I have a whole new perspective now… She was singing “Come in with the rain” pretty recently, it was so emotional and I remember thinking “what does it mean? Who is she talking to?” Now I get, who… I have a weird feeling, she’s still hooked… Hope, he won’t come around to ruin it, seeing her happy because this is what emotionally abusive manipulative men do - ghost you when you need them and then come back when they see you happy and glowing again… That’s coming from 1975 fan! I like their music, he is a genius artist but an awful boyfriend!!

You have this all wrong. This album is 90% about matty. Not Joe. I’m not even a swiftie. Why are all these reaction videos about fucking Joe? Midnights was the Joe album. This is mostly matty with a sprinkle of Joe and Travis. Do your homework. Thumbs down.

Joe probably thought she was going to put him on blast. In a way she did, but she did it in a very minimalist way. So, now he has to figure out how someone she might have dated briefly in 2014 and last year figured more prominently in her musings than a 6-year relationship. I hope things work out with Travis.
