@@BOBFATHER1986 i´m a more average guy with 5ft6 and have no problems, for a tall person like you it´s better to try it on although its marketed as one size fits most and its cut is very roomy
You're such a bell end! 😂 They're an amazingly versatile piece of kit and i don't go out into the Bundu without one. From normal rain protection to a shelter for a rest stop to a picnic blanket or a wrap for grandchildren getting out of the sea to instant camouflage. I use a couple of mil-tec ponchos in ATACS-FG as I love the pattern. I carry a couple of 1m bungees to use as a belt and allow me to set up a shelter quickly. Stuffing prevents wear on the straight lines you create from a rolled poncho and the creased effect bounces light randomly but i roll mine and use the bungees to fasten it to a pack or belt. Very entertaining video, many thanks
You know I take that as a compliment my friend 🤙😂 I'd read about the advantages of stuffing over folding. It still feels kinda wrong. I can feel my granddad judging me from the great beyond. I have a Snugpak Stasha G2 which is pretty much a poncho without the hood and it comes with paracors too. It's also Mrs Moorlander and my sit matt of choice
Any views on the Hazard 4 Soft Shell poncho? I hear it’s a good wind breaker and light rain protection but less effective in heavy rain? Great video as ever- keep them coming 👍🏼🙏🏼
It's great. The Poncho Viall v1 wasn't water proof and was a bit of a let down. Like you say, more of a softshell poncho. This is the v2 is still more like a softshell material but they've taped the seams and it has a 10000HSH. It's still rated for light/medium showers and not a full on torrent. It's also pretty heavy and folds up to over double the size of the Helikon-Tex Poncho. I'm kinda torn on it to be truthful. I'm a massive H4 fan and the quality of it is really nice. It'll last for ever and really take a kicking, however it's a lot more expensive than some others that might not be as tough, but they're a third of the price. I've been out in some light to medium showers and it's definitely kept me dry. No issues there at all
Hi, it looks very good. I have a number of Panchos. I find they work well, for ne...I use a long cord to tie around my waist, this helps to cut the wind flapping. Take care
I've never been to any place with cold weather, so I would like to ask why people would prefer a breathable rain jacket over a poncho in winter. A poncho seems more versatile, as it guarantees waterproof rain coverage in downpours and heavy rain. It vents well, and I can run in it. It doesn't block my movement much, and I don't have to worry that the layer between the jacketss would tear up over time. That makes the poncho much more durable.

Nice piece of kit (not super pricy, taking not much room and if you have some cordage (to make by example a belt, a shelter, ... very versatile) I like the combo real poncho and poncho liner like the swagman roll (I have not these but USGI ponchos that are compatible with swagman roll) Something to consider for 'ponchos' in the higher end side (sure for prices !!! ^^) can be things like Varusteleka Thermal Cloak
Dude, what's the jacket you're wearing? Also, is that Ral 7013 in colour? BTW: appreciated your shot of wearing the satchel underneath the poncho; shows its versatility.
The jacket is the Halo full zip jacket from Highlander Forces. I'm loving it at the moment. They sent it me as both the over head smock and the full zip to test out. For the prices it's very good value for money and also really warm. The colour is ranger green which has a similar tone to RAL7013. My favourite and go to colours are RG or RAL7013. Should have some content out wither around Christmas or just after The satchel under the poncho was kind of a fluke. I had my drone gear in there and just went with it all. It is definitely one the beauties of a poncho over a jacket. You can keep everything dry. Thanks for watching buddy 👍
Back in the 70s the advice to stuff-not-fold-or-roll was born. We had a lot of coated waterproof fabrics for outdoor activities. The coating would definitely crack and peel, so we stuffed. I’m out of touch with the latest advances, so I’m not sure if the old advice applies to all modern fabrics.
Never roll, always stuff! Rolling or folding create permanent creases that make the fabric lose strength over time at certain spots and eventually wearing it prematurely. Stuffing it means the folds are always random.
I get'cha... My only question is (and I'm not trying to be antagonistic with this) why do the manufacturers fold/roll when they make them? Maybe they're trying to make sure they don't last as long so you come back and buy another one 😆
@@MoorlanderEDC Manufacturers want to save space, so folding it makes sense because it doesn't trap air, making it have less volume. Truth is, you won't destroy your product by folding it. You just reduce it's life span by creating stress points, if you do it over and over again for years.
Yes, that make sense. I can definitely feel my dad and granddad judging me from the great beyond whenever I stuff it in 😆 Old habits are the hardest to break Thanks for watching Mike. I hope you're well and had a cracking weekend
I do love a good poncho, keeps the worst of the rain off whist stopping the boil in the bag effect of a hard shell. Currently use a frog togs poncho on occasion, does me fine.
