Awesome video, Batman 1989 is my favorite movie , Tim Burton hit it out of the park !!!! The dark goth look , Jack Nicholson as Joker , outstanding!! That figure captures his likeness perfectly.
How often do we hear people saying the reason why a figures likeness is off is due to how old it is? I hear this often when the DX11 is spoken of. This has nothing to do with the age, but the talent of the artists. The DX09 is still one of the most accurate looking pieces Hot Toys has ever produced; portrait, suit, physique/proportions all first class. The same could be said for the DX08 Joker and the DX Jack Sparrow. Sometimes the artists simply nails the portrait. While there are areas in which this can be improved - more robust PERS, joints, better stock cape, this will never look outdated.

The eyes, lips, chin, & jaw line look nothing like Michael Keaton. & in an inexplicable move, Hot Toys changed the design of the Cowl so it looks nothing like the '89 film. It truly is an ABYSMAL piece of face & Cowl sculpting. 12 years after the DX09 was released & the new 2.0 is horrific where it counts most.

Then again, I started collecting Hot Toys figures in 2017 so I missed out on a lot of older pieces prior to that year. Having said that, this figure still holds up rather well even after all of this time. The various head sculpts, paint application, details and tailoring for Batman's suit are done quite nicely. Articulation is limited, but it's due to the tight fitting nature of the suit. In a way, this figure shows how Hot Toys have progressed over the years. Otherwise, thanks as always Dean for another great video. I really appreciate it!
Still an amazing design from the movie and a great looking figure. I’m hoping that with yet another Nolan updated figure coming out Hot Toys circle back and give the same treatment to Keatons figures as they have done with Bales as well as the updated versions of Iron Man. Imagine this figure with all the up to date technology Hot Toys has to offer, for starters it’s screaming out for some ratcheted joints!
Gotta love the Batman’s with their capes wrapped around them… I think Snyder wrapped his around just for that docks scene with the sniper rifle… I might be wrong. As for Batman vs Returns: Returns obviously has the better cowl but the og suit is generally more beastly I think in order to strike more fear with his debut onto the streets of Gotham… while the Returns suit makes him more approachable to all men and cat women alike
Agreed. Apart from perhaps the base, I cannot see anything on the Returns figure that I like more. The Batman 1989, has a better likeness to Keaton imo. I don't like how large the lower part of the face is on the Returns figure. Then there's the more bulky, more angular cowl on the 1989 and the more natural, less robotic(?) look of the suit itself.
Man I had that figure and I ended up selling it! At the time I need some cash! Now I regret selling it! I wish I have it now! But the prices on eBay are out of this world for this figure!! I didn’t even sell it for half of the price this ridiculous people are asking for on eBay!! Insane!!

Nolan's movies had the best designs by far. The characters, the vehicles, the gadgets - everything was so well done. No Batman movie can beat it in that department.

Batman '89 suit has been, and always will be, my favorite.
The most distinctive features of 1989 Keaton were his lips & his eyes & Hot Toys nailed it on both fronts. Still an exceptional figure 10 years on.
Still wish Hot Toys would put out the vault that held the suit and weapons.

Imo, 1989 Batman overall wise is a better film however...the outfit Keaton wore in the Returns version...hard to beat.
