    Just witnessed this first hand. I have a sandisk extreme pro microsd and lexar silver plus , both in theory faster than the samsung, but on the samsung adapter limited at around 90mbyte/s whereas the samsung pro plus sd card is 140mbytes/s read 116write.

    Those are megabytes per second, not megabits per second. That is an 8x difference in speed.

    You bet your ars they do. Samsung has been following Apple's business model for a decade now and this is something out 9f apple's play book

    I have that Kingston adapter and it's really fast, reading all kinds of cards including Samsung's (I don't have any Pro Plus cards but I do have several Evo Plus and Selects).
    I'm looking to get the new version of the Samsung Pro Plus 512GB card that has a rated 180/130 speed, but haven't decided if it's worth spending a bit more for the version that comes with their adapter since I already have and like the Kingston one.
    Sounds like it would be a waste of money, especially since I'd usually be using the card directly in a device like a phone or tablet, or a desktop or laptop with a built-in fast MicroSD reader, and already have the Kingston reader, which I rarely need to use these days.
    Any other reason to get the version with the Samsung reader, before I place my order?

      I got it because it was only $1-2 more at the time while my kingston reader was already $10 by itself. I also felt like it was worth because it's a micro sd reader while my kingston version was for full size only, so it'd save me the trouble of having to adapt every time. Definitely depends on your use case / wanting to have multiple options.
      I'd personally consider anything under $5 extra as probably worth just to have

    Just got the reader today. How the heck do people remove the card after inserting it? It goes in way too deep lol

      It’s indeed a struggle. I feel like I’m gonna break something

    Dude, I though I was watching a high quality 200k views video, you really deserve more views, keep up the good work!
    I guess the only thing you could improve upon is to make the runtime longer with some tests

    I have the exact opposite problem. My Kingston Mobile Lite Plus does not achieve over 100 MB/s with Samsung EVO Plus, Pro Plus or Pro Ultimate cards... Only the Samsung Reader does... Any thoughts why?

      It probably goes back to Samsung's implementation that gets Samsung their speeds. Maybe your version (microsd) of the Kingston adapter doesn't support whatever Samsung's doing

      @@SomethingAznI have Kingston MobileLite Plus for full size SD, and use an adapter for microSD. Can you post the numbers from the back of your Kingston Reader? Mine is "MLP 9934530-001 A00LF 5V 08739701311031 China".

    Thanks for explaining! I just discovered that the Samsung SD card reader has 2 versions! (Verse 1.0 and version 2.0.) The version 2.0 can reach speeds of up to 180 MB/s. From the speed test of your video I see that you achieved 160MB/s. Is it correct that the reader is Version 1.0?

    • @SomethingAzn
      @SomethingAzn  7 месяцев назад

      Probably, this was right before they updated their pro plus cards

    • @kovie9162

      Are you sure it's the reader that was upgraded? They just upgraded the Pro Plus cards from 160/130 to 180/130, so perhaps that's what you're seeing, not an upgraded reader?

      No, you guys have this wrong. UHS I is limited to 100 mb/s. UHS II can go to 200+ but requires extra pins. Samsung cards don't have the extra pins and use special sauce in the timing signals to get double bandwidth, much like sandisk. Unfortunately, they made their version of the technology proprietary.

    • @Fishwithadeagle
      @Fishwithadeagle 5 месяцев назад

      @@kovie9162 I replied in another comment, but it is a change in the communication protocol that certain cards used to get about 100 mb/s without going UHS II. Unfortunately they are limiting their readers to samsung cards.

      @@Fishwithadeagle I recently got a Samsung Pro Plus 512GB MicroSD card, the newer one with 180/130 rated speeds, and was able to get 172/135 using a Kingston reader in a USB 3.2 port on a front panel reader, so it's not just Samsung's reader. I got less than 100/100 in a MicroSD slot in the same reader, so there's something about these readers that allows them to meet or exceed these cards' rated speeds and not just Samsung's. I installed the card in my Samsung A54 phone and hopefully it uses similar technology to get the max speeds from it. Any idea what apps can test that?

    Samsug is cheeting everywhere. Thats why I buy their products very rare. And always when I buy something from them I regret it. Lately bougt 512gig pro ultra with the adapter and again samsung shocked me. The card is fast as specified 130/200 and card reader was cheep but those games they are playing are not nice.
