Knowing Home Depot it wasn't even cedar. It was treated pine stained to look like cedar. They carry quite a bit of that. Explains the "water logged" comment the other home depot employee said.
Would love to see y’all do this again with a bigger budget and more time to see who can make the best bat possible. Maybe even get some help from victus or something so y’all can make a great proffesional grade bat with real quality wood and tools 🔥🔥🔥
In medieval England, the English longbow was crafted from English yew because the springiness of the yew led to higher arrow velocity through a trampoline-like effect. I wonder if something similar would work with a bat. The bat would flex somewhat and spring back, theoretically leading to higher exit velo and balls traveling further. I want to see this.
There's a reason they don't usually make bats out of most woods. The grain structures of alot of hardwoods can't handle the impact of a hard shot. Unless it's corked or something like this process to give the wood some absorbing power. The most popular hardwood that can be used is white oak because it has large grains that are less prone to shattering. Although most bats are usually made of something like pine because it will not break as easily
@@redrider132001 oh yes there are some bats made of that. They just don't use some hard woods but just about everything goes. Since they have the technology to make the bat on a lathe and have zero stress fractures. Hell some bats are basically particleboard or compression wood. There's countless different compositions
I think the priority for exit velo should be how fast you can swing the bat. the big lunky bats are very hard to square up, and don't have as much bat speed as the lighter ones. the energy produced is more reliant on the speed of the bat than the weight.
Momentum I have a great idea. You get 9 other baseball content creators and you all get 1 week and enough money to make your own equipment. You make everything like batting gloves, mitts, bats etc. and then you use a real baseball and play one 9 inning game with regular rules against a middle school team.
No, cedar is not a hardwood. This iconic wood, known throughout the world for its beauty, versatility and spicy aroma, is a softwood. It belongs to a group of plants known as “gymnosperms,” which includes most conifers, such as pine and fir trees.
I've been saying you guys have to get an actual og bat made of hickory! not old hickory the brand, the actual wood hickory that players like Babe used. You technically have never used Babes bat if it isnt made of hickory.
Get some maple or other hardwood boards and laminate them together with some good wood glue. Make a block then whittle that down to a bat. Then cork it for good measure.
uhhh. for Make Your own Bat Round 3, instead of home depot try a Rockler or Woodcraft. they have actual Ash and Birch bat blanks there. hell, they may even have a lathe yuo can use and someone to keep you from killing yourself on it.
Should make a baseball bat out of Ipe. Would be the heaviest bat ever but would be interested and seeing if anyone could break it and if it would ring you up when you hit with it. But good luck trying to cut it down to size to make the bat. It would eat up any saw and the chisels would not like it very much.
you need to go to a real wood supplier in Phoenix like spellman hardwoods or Peterman lumber. I've often wonder how an white oak bat would perform. i know it will be really heavy. compared to maple. ive also wondered if glueing piece together would be stronger than a solid piece.
When you asked the home depot employee whats the hardest wood and he points at the softest wood i lost it lmaoo
Lol I was thinking the same, he should've just googled what wood to make a baseball bat out of because cedar is most definitely not it
As a Home Depot employee who’s always asked questions not in my area…he gave his best educated guess off of looks🤣
Knowing Home Depot it wasn't even cedar. It was treated pine stained to look like cedar. They carry quite a bit of that. Explains the "water logged" comment the other home depot employee said.
Hickory is the hardest stuff you will find at store, so is maple, walnut, mahogany
It goes hard tho
Fun fact(kinda) cedar is not the hardest wood it’s probably the softest aside from finger jointed stuff. it’s also very wet and it chips easily
W day for a W video
Fr I have my championship today in baseball
@@NewNubyGamingI had seating games today
I touched myself today
@@NewNubyGaming good luck
@@NewNubyGaming my brother lost 10-2 today in baseball
Being known at your local Home Depot is the highest level of dad one can hope to achieve
Finally we get to see Eric win a challenge other than hitting.
Your spoiled it 😢
@@TurnerTT7 same
And he did it with a bat that once again broke in half.
You know it’s a good day when momentum makes a video, see I’m confident we’re going to win our baseball game today!❤🎉
Nice I had a baseball tournament and we went 2-0 and are the 2 seed
Good luck and have fun!
Thanks (I don't know if you are talking to me)
Prolly both of us
Hey momentum can u tell me who saw my comment out of the crew

I’d love to see a video with real wood turned bats made of different types of wood that they don’t usually make bats with.

Sim getting pissed at Cam for always picking Cole’s bat was funny af considering he always picks his homemade stuff no matter how bad it is

Both are important, mass and velocity are coefficients of the same equation
@@Areallthesetaken KE is mass * (velocity)^2 .... velocity is squared... much more impt
Love the Videos. You guys should do DIY corked bats next!!!
That slapping motion Eric made. LMAO! 🤣
Can you guys show us the finished bats up close if you do this again?
They’re 10ft bats. Ok from 10ft, don’t look up close
3:20 bro dropped the cleanest transition and thought we didn't notice
6:21 the best part lol
congratulations on your new born twins Tosh you will make a great dad!!
The guys spend almost as much time at Home Depot as me lmaoo love these gotta give Eric credit

Finally Eric won one of these homemade challenge videos lol
Michael Stefanic on the thumbnail 🔥🔥
Eric’s performance in this is all-time
Tip of the cap
These guys coaches: why is your swing all messed up
These guys:👀
Maybe in addition to having people vote on which bat they liked, you guys average the EV each player had with each bat.
I love you homemade bat more pls this is second video I've watch of you guys love you guy love the home made bat more pls ❤❤❤😂😂😮

They cant handle the weight of babes bat.
@@Dead_Goat they've literally already swung it just with a different wood
"You kinda slap it a little bit" -Eric Sim 2023
You guys should most definitely see who can make the best corked bat
Can you do this with the balls and professional pitchers next?
The reason Matt wanted a red bat is he plays for the curve
You guys should compare cheap vs expensive bats or gloves
Leave it to Eric to get pressure treated wood. That is why it was green inside
Y’all didn’t think to go to the hardwood aisle? They sell maple, oak, ash, and a few other hardwoods.
Well the workers at Home Depot obviously didn’t help them
Admittedly, none of us knew there was even such an aisle…so thank you - looks like we have another video to make soon! Haha
“Shoutout to Home Depot. Sponsor us or die” 😂😂😭
I love these types of vids
I get so happy when they drop a video
Get some maple or other hardwood boards and laminate them together with some good wood glue. Make a block then whittle that down to a bat. Then cork it for good measure.
For reference, the hardest wood at Home Depot is Maple. Unless, you order Brazilian woods
uhhh. for Make Your own Bat Round 3, instead of home depot try a Rockler or Woodcraft. they have actual Ash and Birch bat blanks there. hell, they may even have a lathe yuo can use and someone to keep you from killing yourself on it.
I like how Eric uses chicken bones lol birds have hollow bones
Eric winning is not what I expected
Hickory, Ash and Maple are the hardest woods. Most wood drum sticks are made of these woods. Hickory being the hardest.
Tosh always goes out w these types of videos
I’m shocked that Tosh let Eric around pointy objects.
Eric’s face when the bat broke has me weak af

Cole just made the flintstones club 💀
I don't know why i'm so surprised that these guys have such sweet swings
0:45. THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!
Now I just want to see someone with a lathe and an actual piece of hardwood.
Smoothest Ad transition ever !
play a full game with the best homemade bad, glove, and ball. a 2v2
They won’t get thru 2 innings lol
You should do homemade catcher gear with a 200$ budget
“Sponsor us or die” 😭😭😂😂
Not sure if they have these at HD, but you should have gotten an adze. It’s much better for hewing.
I didnt know keemstar play baseball 😂😂

Great video!
yall should get a lathe and then you can really make your own bat. that would be sick
Just keep Eric away from it. He'd definitely hurt himself using it.
The whole wood section really got me
Redemption for the king of juco
By the way, the strongest wood is Australian belo
Love your vids
I couldn’t stop laughing whenever it came time for the cannon series 🤣 like swinging a caveman club
Best baseball content on RUclips!
“It looks healthy it tastes healthy.” But it isn’t💀💀
do a "can we catch a homemade ball flyball with a homemade glove hit by a homemade bat pitched by an mlb pitcher or trevor bauer"
Eric, I think you've ALREADY had one too many roasted chickens? ...and the extra toppings that go with it?
Tones of fire wood was made in the making of this video.😂
I like Matt bring him back
LOL!!!... A cedar-wood bat rubbed with a chicken bone and stained red. There's a movie in there somewhere.
Should have bought a few 1x4 planks of maple and laminated them together, then shaped it.
I consistently wonder why they don't just rent time at a maker space for these challenges.
Why did I think Matt Frazier was bronny w glasses at first glance 😂
When I worked in the oilfield we found a reebar in the dirt and 2 golf balls. We took turns smoking the funk outta the balls. Try it.
Guys! You need a wood lathe to make a baseball bat! You can get one for a few hundred dollars.
Not in the budget for the challenge. Plus why would we want to make it easier? 🤪
At this point y'all should just make your own bat company
Tosh is the guy you want to help with your kitchen addition.
Eric for MVP 🤷🏾♂️
It's green on the inside because it's pressure treated with copper azole.
Matt’s new nicknames gotta be Ronald acuna the third
-Eric “ Look at it! It’s hardening!”
Lmao eric using pressure treated wood. Get them chemicals bruh
You guys should try to hit against Duran from the twins he just threw a 101 spitter and averages 102-104 mph on his fastball
Homemade metal bats next please
I love these
GOD BLESS
The woods i would think you would want to look for are cedar, ash, and hickory.
Homemade Pitching mound challenge, and then donate it for the kids
I wonder if they told Eric that he was buying pressure treated wood. That shit is so heavy
Somebody needs to make an Eric Sim being off brand montage.
Finally, they actually work
I lost it when I saw that the chicken bone was taped on 💀
Damn Eric really just wanted to find some Hard Wood
Erick should have taken his extra money and found a woodsmith and lathe and just shaped the bat
I wonder if Tosh put some tape on his bat's handle if it would have survived
My takeaway is how good pros are. You could give them a rubber chicken and they might be able to get a hit
Today missed the ball getting a Blue Chew sponsorship for the video where everyone is looking for hard wood.
Sorry but that brutha was swinging the bat like he was 70.
