Standby passengers are a part of the flight itinerary. Bc of that most flights are overbooked. I'd bet my left nut that he was standby. Shit like that happens all the time. It's considerably cheaper. It just means you might have to wait a flight or two to get on. I've also been asked to leave. However, in my case, the seat number I was given was the seat of the guy that showed up late. The guy that paid full price. It sucks, but it's part of flying standby. However, this was an "United Express" flight. Those planes don't have assigned seating. So if a family of four checks in late and all the seats are taken, they will go to the standby list and ask for four volunteers from it. It's obvious as hell this is what happened. It amazes me people can't figure that out.
He brought that upon himself. Flying is a privilege not a right. he was a guest on that plane and acted like a child when he was asked to get off the flight.
It's I the contract but no one forced the airline to treat the customer like this. Try a good airline, they will do anything to make you feel good. Here they chose this solution and now they have a pr disaster
XGiveMeLibertyX yeah you're right. A doctor needing to see patients the next day brought this all on himself by PAYING for a ticket and being told he was able to fly to then be dragged off said flight last minute against his will because the company fucked up. That's how business should work. Take people's money then beat the shit out of them and try to make it like it's their fault when you make mistakes
+james khan are you actually defending the airline? They forcefully dragged a paying customer off of the plane, giving him a concussion, broken nose, and two lost teeth. Not to mention he had to get to his patients.
Steven G. Of course I'm defending them, they have the right to do exactly what they did under their policies and procedures, this guy chose to fly with this airline, the only reason it got violent was because he acted like a 2 year old and forced the staff to drag him off. It was a shit situation for him but this is what happens to people all the time when they fly, it's just normal people dont throw a wobbly like this fucken muppet...
Q : Who Over-Booked the flight? United Airlines. Q: Who mistake was it ? United Airlines Q Who dragged the person off plane? United Airlines. Q: Who's the culprit here? United Airlines. Who should Apologize for the mess? The passenger or the Airline??
Not so much cost but more convenient for the airline and workers, all u can eat and drink while being transported to ur work place LOL the perks of working for United if any.
United Airlines used a computer to randomly select the four passengers needed to off board the plane to accommodate flight personnel. Three of the passengers off boarded amicably but the man seen dragged from the plane said that he had urgent business to attend to at his destination. This video clip from ABC News is saying that no laws were broken but it is undue process of law that could have easily found another person willing to accept the $800 incentive to leave the plane. The passengers did not struggle with the handlers who received time off of work and again boarded the plane saying that he had to go home. What would you have done after having paid for the tickets and been assigned a seat on the plane?
They should've said "excuse me, we've overbooked this flight so we'll need some passengers to leave. We'll refund your money and get you later flight on first class flight at no cost. Any takers?" People would've been fighting to get off the plane
The most insane thing is you don’t know the medical or physical condition of the person you are removing. What if he had just had back surgery or shoulder surgery?
Nathan Melander negative. United is responsible. united is responsible for everything it let's happen on its customers. If united hired a terrorist for a pilot do you blame only the terrorist and say united isn't to blame? Cause then that just gives them right to use others to shield themselves.
Yes, I only blame the terrorist. And Paying customers are refused service all the time with refunds back. Is a PRIVATE COMPANY! They have a right to do pretty much whatever they want within the contracts that are made up. The customers, on the other hand, have a right to remember and not give them business ever again.
Mike D - I call bullshit. 1. Because he wasn't beaten and 2. Because according to another passenger he was yelling that he wasn't getting off and that he was targeted for being Asian
Mulinaster - You should try the "that's irrelevant" route, because denying it is not going to work. It's also reported by TMZ (lol), People, Courier-Journal, Chicago-Sun Times, New York Post, Washington Times, etc.
quenquen411 it doesn't matter abuse is putting their hands forcefully on him and causing ANY harm to him. They are not police don't try to act like they are.
You are aware the United Airlines employs people called Attorneys who instruct the airline as to what they can and cannot do. You have no "right" to be on their flight.
Eric B That is debatable. If you pay for something, you do have a right to it. Now, there may be fine print that acts as an agreement to give up a seat. I don't know. What I do know is that the law is nowhere near as well clear-cut as one might think. If it were there would be no employment for lawyers. Then, if a jury gets involved, all bets are off. They are king. I am not aware whether attorneys were called in this particular case. If they were, they did not have eyes on the scene and therefor could not have made an unimpeachable assessment. The guy definitely has a case. Did you see the reactions of the other passengers? Have you seen the social media reaction? The airline cannot afford to put this in front of a jury. Look for an out-of-court.
If I'm a paying customer, I sure do have a right to be on their flight. What kind of airline would need to have an attorney instruct their airline what to do or not to do?
Buying a ticket means you agree to the terms and conditions of the airline. You know, the 20 pages of legal jargon that no one reads. Within the terms and conditions states that you can be bumped from a flight for it being overbooked. You have no "right" to be on the flight.
WONDERGIRL He was a standby passenger. Standby tickets are cheaper. A standby only gets on when a passenger that payed full price doesn't show. In this case the full price passenger was just late and when he showed up they asked the standbys for a volunteer. Nobody volunteered, so the picked at random. Guy had to leave. The guy refused, most likely because didn't read his Terms of Agreement and thought he had a right to that seat. He didn't. End of story. The guy that got dragged off is an idiot
+Slytherin Keeper Stop spreading nonsense. He wasn't on a stand-by ticket and the "full price" passengers were employees of the airline. If you can't be bothered to read an article or two about the incident, don't comment on it.
I just booked a vacation and sought out United as my airline because of this incident. Many are applauding their use of legal force. The mainstream media is not giving them a fairly weighted voice.
Minny Paul and that's how it should be.. companies should always put employees needs above making money.. but the treatment of this customer was just absurd.. hope he sues..
zinov3 I agree that company's should value there employees But not when there's a agreement already being made between a company and a customer. This is like selling something, and then taking it back.
The employee were not put on the plane as a favor by any means - they were put on there - so they could get them to work another flight that had an issue. Employees are not treated that way to be nice - it's so there company does not lose money on another flight. Sad but true!
I've said it on other videos, but I'm sincerely passionate about this. BOYCOTT UNITED, spread the word. Also, we need to make it illegal for airlines in the United States to overbook at all, let alone kick passengers off a a full flight for crew transport. People are not statistics!
Umm, I'm not a justice warrior. I do not like some super triggered feminists who want to critique every word someone says, but I don't think they are dumb mother fuckers. America has FREE SPEECH, you know. I have NEVER FLOWN ON UNITED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. Obviously the same is true for you due to the fact that you watched this video. Yes, you are right that businesses need to use statistics to project sales. They DO NOT need to kick PAID SEATED passengers off of a plane, to shuttle their crew to save money by making sure that a scheduled flight takes off on time. Now, this will end up costing United FAR more money than just having a delayed or cancelled flight. I did care about this before, and I'm not a mother fucker. Common sense, not justice warrior. Maybe you need to get a hobby.
. They are trying to get him off the plane. He refused so now they have to force him off. Its not their fault he resisted and did whatever he could including getting himself hurt to stay on. And then getting back on a second time is just making things worse. Imagine a police officer trying to arrest someone for trespassing and they resist. the police Officer has the right to get that person restrained and arrested. If the person gets hurt for resisting it's their own fault for not following orders. Would you also feel bad for the person trespassing?
Awkward Turtle its called the small print. Everything is in there. Overbooked flights happen everyday. The only why this one got alot of attention is because of what happened. I'm not agreeing with the airline for doing it because it sucks but its something that cant be helped.
When you're earning an annual salary of over $5 million, people like Oscar Munoz (CEO of United) struggle to find even a shred of empathy to form a proper apology. It's a shame.
That is so unethical the way they treated that passenger. Also their reason to have their employees on board for last minute decision is just ridiculous.
dude at start i though about all the "its in the contract" but then i read some stuff about it and it seems the contract says "Before embarked on the plane".
Maggie Faragher actually it's good this happened because the doctor is actually really messed up www.google.com.uy/amp/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4401980/amp/Dr-dragged-United-swapped-drugs-secret-gay-sex.html
for those who say he should have complied to law enforcement, cut your craps and come to your sense 1. This is not a criminal case. It's not like you are removing a thug or catching a drunk driver. Here united was asking the man to do them a favor to give up his seat. Law enforcement should have never involved here. It's the fucked up regulations that allow airlines to involve law enforcement in these situations and that should be changed. And it's the fucking airline that thinks it can do whatever it wants even if it means to hurt its customers. 2. Do everyone else a favor and educate yourself with the fine print before backing the fucking airline. United's rule 25A starting with "Denied Boarding (U.S.A./Canadian Flight Origin) - When there is an Oversold UA flight that originates in the U.S.A. or Canada, the following provisions apply..." It clearly says "when there is an Oversold" but the flight was not fucking oversold. They needed those seats for their own employees. So regardless wtf the fine print says about overbooking, they could not force the man to give up his seat if he didn't want to. It's united's fucking problem. 3. Again, educate yourself and read the fucking fine print in rule 25 further. The phrase "denied boarding" is used over and over. This situation is not about denied boarding. The guy had already been boarded and that's why he was already in his seat. What should have been called in this situation is "revoking boarding" but that's not anywhere in the fucking fine print. Even if it was there, it should be removed because it's unfair and unjust. 4. Given that it was united's fucking problem, they should not have been too cheap to stop the offer at $800. Why not keep increasing the offer until it's maxed out at $1350 and see if anyone took it? It's their fucking own problem for not having transportation for their employees and they tried to be so cheap and then used force on their customers when it didn't go the way they want? Anyone think that was right, your reasoning has a fucking problem!
tee dee yeah but don't say "fuck united airlines" it's just a law that the crew can't fly more than a certain amount of hours and those people had to come on and get him off and also it's in the contract that they can make people get off if they refuse. So next time before wasting your time on stupid shit read the facts
I agree with your arguments but I don't see why you feel it is necessary to use "fucking" as an adjective so often. It doesn't make you look tough. It makes you look low class.
+Renzo I did not feel necessary to use the fucking word. In fact, this is the only RUclips comment I ever used that many fucking words (or maybe even ever used it). I was simply too upset and angry when I wrote the above comment. I neither tried to look tough nor be high class, because there's no point for me to. So no thanks for labeling me to those terms, just like those who tried to label the poor man for not complying to law enforcement without knowing (or even trying to understand) what the matter was really about. That shows where you really are. I'm amused.
IIM KII..... He was a standby passenger. Standby tickets are cheaper. A standby only gets on when a passenger that payed full price doesn't show. In this case the guy was just late and when he showed up they asked the guy to leave. The guy refused, most likely because didn't read his Terms of Agreement and thought he had a right to that seat. He didn't. End of story. The guy that got dragged of is an idiot....
Soo, Let's assume I've got a important meeting in another country, but JUST because I bought cheap standby tickets, someone can take my place instead? Nice joke. UA LUL
Slytherin Keeper There was no one on standby. 4 employees of that airline need to go to Louisville, so they choose 4 random passengers to kicked out. The airline offered money to the passenger to get him off, but when that didn't work, they called security. There's also reports of the plane not even being overbooked.
the airline was damn lucky they picked an elderly man. if I was on a flight and a security guard put his hands on me I would be leaving in a straight jacket and one or two guards would going to the hospital. what they SHOULD have done is keep upping their offer for someone to get off until someone takes it since it was their STUPID mistake over booking.
That's right and they didn't even reach their maximum offer. CEO needs to go since he only apologize after realizing the stock was falling. His 3rd time.
Remember it was United that caved in to muslim complaints about seat assignments in January? They can't sit near women, can't be served by women, blah blah. UA complied with the muslim demands - much better to offend Americans.
Houston Spartan it's not just united it's all airlines that have that rule. We don't own the airlines we're just passengers they can kick you off if they want for any reason. They would just have to reimburse you your money back.
TheDude Thats what I was thinking...they could of very well asked the passengers who is able to accept a $voucher (an acceptable amount that would be twice the amount of that flight fare paid with no advance purchase). I don't believe it would have been an issue this way. They should have asked a second group of four...because they dont know the circumstance. I guess the on time record came into play...Its nuts. So sad to see this happen. They were pretty harsh and he was really trying to stand his ground.
Sharon Lincoln The airline DID ask for volunteers offering an $800 voucher but no one volunteered so their computer chose 4 people who were required to depart. Of the four, only this man threw a temper tantrum over it instead of departing the plane with maturity and dignity.
TheDude I would absolutely give up my seat for another passenger who needed it more than myself, but not if they behaved like this man. Acquiescing to bad behavior endorses it, and that is not what we should condone.
K RF First of all, you assume he is telling the truth about being a doctor. Secondly, when you are asked by authorities to do something, the mature thing to do is comply with dignity, not act like a spoiled brat. Doctors generally don't behave this way. Furthermore, wishing me to die because I have a different opinion than you certainly says a lot about the kind of person you are.
"when you are asked by authorities to do something, the mature thing to do is comply"... lot of that going around in totalitarian regimes. You know North Korea, Russia, Syria, Nazi Germany...
He looks younger than he is, if that means anything to you. In hindsight he's a senior citizen, but I'm not sure that was known at the time... or if that means you can do whatever you want even if they did know. Deciding to pick someone "more compliant and wiling" would cause another moral problem. They had already asked people to take re-accommodations for another flight and nobody wanted to, then 4 were picked for involuntary exit, he was one of the 4. Picking someone else on a flight where people already didn't want to get off because "he's not compliant and willing" or because "he's a doctor" just doesn't seem right either. "Hey, you... what's your occupation? oh you're unemployed???? get of, the doctor will stay on instead" ...or "hey you, how old are you? 21!??? get off, the older gentlemen will stay" Maybe they should have picked the youngest least successful person to get off, but checking their history and such. I don't know.
quenquen411 you have a point but they could have offer more money and not only $800 for those who wants to get off the plane! I would not take $800 either if it was me but if it was say 2k, I might think about it. Now, this incident might cost the airlines millions after the lawsuit.
It isn't messed up. He was on private property, was asked to leave by the owner of the property, and did not do as asked. He was trespassing at that point.
are u crazy? he paid for a flight with his hard earned money received a ticket for the seat he PAID for. they boarded him on the flight. and then FORCED him off the plane to give an employee a FREE ride to their destination. this is not ok. it's like going to a restaurant ordering a meal and paying in advance and then watching the employee eat your food. I would be livid!
Caroline's World 1) The police removed him, not the airline. 2) He signed a user agreement that stated that the airline has the right to refuse service to him, in which he is offered a refund. In this case, not only was he offered a refund, but an additional $400. 3) It's not HIS plane. That plane is private property belonging to the airline.
Donald L. 1. the airline called the police to remove him 2. Noone ever reads that shit and he was a doctor so he didn't need money he needed to get home 3. I don't give a hoot if it's private or public if I'm paying u for a service I require the service to be completed and on time. 4.at the end of the day we should be reading the fine print of our documents and I think this has opened a lot of people eyes about the airline industry however in this instance they should have never boarded the plane and then dragged people off against their will and in such a violent manner! that sir is inappropriate by both the airline and police!
Caroline's World "no one ever reads that shit" You said it. It's not the airline's fault that he, you, me or anyone else signs a LEGAL document without reading the fine print.
He was never mistreated… he refused to get up and was clinging to the seat like a child and hurt himself. Then he went limp limbed, once again like a child, instead of getting up and walking he made employees drag him.
People don't understand: when they say get off the plane you are required to deplane. You agree to it when you buy the ticket. If people weren't so stupid, this wouldn't e a problem.
Эйегон Таргариен shut the fuck up.... what are you doing to contribute to the human race and did you fight for this country.... and also america isnt even my fav country but it makes me mad when i see people disrespect the usa like bruh keep that stuff to ur self
Annie Dinh It wasn't united airlines that did this,it was the police who did it.Are you that fucking stupid and will believe anything that people do for attention?
Mal TheMiracle The security guards of the airline physically assaulted a passenger who had just only refused to give up his seat. He can sue them for assault.
An absolutely disgusting act! That man who dragged him! Who taught you to bully people around like that? I hope the passenger sues the shit out of the airline and charge that fucking coward for assault! 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Lizzie Fisher They're not blaming him, and they were idiots for overbooking, but he still needed to get up. I'm not saying what they did was righ, I'm just saying that the man could have avoided the whole thing.
somedude335 Oh, not the nation, never. Only the powerful corporations that thrive in it and the people who run them, carry out their directives, and who follow blindly. But who said a nation is made up of its citizenry, we all know it's all flags and cupcakes.
Bell chu! It's not the nation - It seems as if the security officer felt necessary to use the tiny amount of power the had to be a big bully! I can say as a flight attendant myself - I would need therapy after seeing that. But I wouldn't blame the nation? As far as United's response - sickening. Glad to say I do not work for them!
Specifically, what 'stuff' are you referring to and which countries fall into the 'every other country' bracket? England, Germany, Sweden . . .? What countries specifically.
Please stop calling this over booking. The flight was full and United decided to remove 4 people to allow 4 employees to fly. 4 employees who were not originally booked. Over booking rules allow the airline to prevent passengers from BOARDING , it does not allow them to physically drag customers off And the cheapskates only offered a small fraction of the $1350 limit, so what do they expect
CaneFu nothing. try googling for 3 seconds. they offered to compensate anyone who would volunteer because the flight was over booked. they then took someone based on the seat number and it was this guy. He refused to leave his seat. what exactly are you supposed to do in that situation? either you have to forcibly removed the person or you have to cancel the whole flight.
When a person is 69 years old, they are often not as flexible and "sturdy" as younger people. Literally dragging an individual, who has done nothing wrong but refused to go voluntarily, out of those narrow seats, over the armrests and down the aisle was a risky move. He could easily have suffered worse the a bloody mouth. Imagine if that had been a 69 year old woman with osteoporosis that refused to give up her seat and the potential for injuries the airline would be subjecting her to. United should make it policy to sweeten the deal with more vouchers or preferably just offer cash. Clearly nobody thought $800 in vouchers was enough. For $800 in cash there would likely have been takers. That's far cheaper than settling an injury lawsuit because the airline goons used excessive force on the wrong person.
You know what I am so confused about? The fact that none of the other passengers considered the abuse of this guy more important than their damn flight. Howcome no one voluntered to go instead of having this guy forcibly dragged out of the plane? It is sad that no one even considered helping that poor guy over their flight....
Ocean Princess Thank you! Someone who didn't want to see the guy get hurt should have just took his place. It's not like it was the last plane on Earth, just treat it like a delayed or cancelled flight. everyone on that plane were selfish, except the three that went off without issue.
You should also look into how these 4 passengers were "randomly" selected. Show me the computer that randomly selected these passengers. Were first and business class passengers also included? There is no such function! I'll bet they were chosen simply because they paid the lowest fares! Also he wasn't asked to give up his seat because it was overbooked. It was because 4 UA employees also wanted to go to Louisville.
@ ABC news, funny how you failed to also add in your click bait that he was BEATEN until he was bloodied. Don't leave out such a crucial detail, you guys are supposed to report news, so report it ALL. Surely the passenger getting beaten in the face is quite significant??
Joshio 24 I think people are assuming racism because there were only a few asian passengers and a majority of the passengers they pulled off were asian.
how would you know it isn't? the majority of the ones being deboarded were in fact asian. if it we're a majority black people would it be more obvious?
Why would a PAYING customer have to get off their PAID flight in order to make room for United employees. This is absolutely ridiculous!! It is the airlines fault they overbooked, that man had every right to be on that flight. And that excessive force was uncalled for. The cops and the crew dragging him out should be FIRED!
all my friends just canceled united airline credit card or quit their flyer program after this. It is so stupid for them to do so. Now their flight will never be overbooked again~
United Airlines has been randomly selected for me to never fly again. UAL now means Uncivilized AirLines. Apparently, someone at United thought this was the "one best way" to solve the problem of overbooking. Airport security has sunken to a new low. Very scientific, right?
I'll never fight united again. That could had be your brother, father or son. This is not how a customer should be treated. It's the airline fault for overbooking. People book that flight because it fix their schedule and if they change flight they could be late. Who ever still fly united, I hope you get drag next!
NBA Primetime every airline overbooks flights. Check it out. Just google it. Its cause if people cancel or don't show up they have someone to claim the seat. That why there's something called "standby"
JaysFX because the guy had no legal right to keep his seat..... Bet the guy didn't read the TOS agreement before he bought a ticket. This shit happens everyday, the only difference is this guy is an over privileged douche that didn't want to give up his seat.
Slytherin Keeper he didn't want to give up his seat because he was over privileged, he didn't want to give it up because he has to help his patients. Did you even watch the video? Lmao
United air lines is now the worst rated airlines in my opinion, like literally abusing a passenger that rightfully paid fir his seat and just kicking him out, and btw they did the same thing again were they killed caked out a couple because someone was lying down and was sleeping so they had to sit somewhere else and then united airline (the shitiest airline on earth) crew just tells them to get off the plane. United airline will hopefully learn a leston because they need to smarten up quick
So al of this was happening, everyone else was freaking out and saying they felt bad for the man yet they still could've offered their seat to let the man stay on the plane.
*He's 69, he's a doctor, his daughter is a lawyer, you guys are doomed, and yet they haven't learnt they're lesson yet* . It's not about overbooking, it's about how you handle the issue: randomly forcing 4 people out, when you could give them an upgrade, even on another flight. Other companies do that. Geez
Flight Attendant: Evening Passengers. We will be serving chicken/beef today for dinner. For your in-flight entertainment we have available the horror movie Drag me to hell in 3D.
Don't forget to pack a parachute before boarding United Airlines just in case they decide they are overbooked while in flight.
Greg Lecuyer they're*
Practicing my joke writing but I failed grammer in school.
Grammar. You failed spelling, too.
You also forgot logic too cause why would they kick someone out if it is already moving. If it's overbooked they would have kicked him already.
Mohamed Abdi I know, i had a bad day so i took it seriously...
United Airlines,
Arrive as a doctor,
Leave as a patient 🛩
Windex Bottle United Airlines: we'll beat out competitors... AND OUR CUSTOMERS
Windex Bottle LMAO
OI THAT WAS GENIUS
Arrive stealing jokes
Leaves stealing jokes
shahida islam you know it baby ;)
Board as a doctor, leaves as a patient.
- united airlines
LOL.
That wasn't an insult too the doctor, but the airline. Calm the fuck down.
he need a doctor
he just hit the jackpot, he'll get millions and United will lose millions.
He's a surgeon, I'm sure he already lives well.
And his hospital bills go up
You mean billions
Tampatec I hope so.
he will not get a dime. Not a dime! Well he will get his 170 bucks back
Do they not know how to count, how do they overbook a plane?
Steven Hunt But do they know how to count each seat in the plane?
***** Nah I get it, I was just joking
Standby passengers are a part of the flight itinerary. Bc of that most flights are overbooked. I'd bet my left nut that he was standby. Shit like that happens all the time. They board the standbys and then some family of four checks in just before they close the doors. Guess what happens to the standbys? They are asked to leave. I've flown standby my entire life. However, in my case, the seat number I was given was the seat of the guy that showed up late. The guy that paid full price. It sucks, but it's part of flying standby. However, this was an "United Express" flight. Those planes don't have assigned seating. It's obvious as hell this is what happened. It amazes me people can't figure that out.
Flash Ace they always do it on purpose. The fact that they stated it as an error makes their statement looks fishy.
Flash Ace
It's a computer system and if you did your research you would find a extremely reasonable answer.
We can't beat out competitors, so we beat our customers.
I don't think humiliation and physical abuse was part of that contract.
F. orsaken well he did resist that part is on him
He brought that upon himself.
+XGiveMeLibertyX as you said he's a guest. How do you treat guests? THINK! for once.
"Re-accommodate these customers".. beats the piss out of the man and drags him off the plane and into the hallway
'beats the piss out of the man'...lmfao take it easy drama queen
+james khan They did punch the guy, you can see it for a quick second during the video.
It was a shit situation for him but this is what happens to people all the time when they fly, it's just normal people dont throw a wobbly like this fucken muppet...
james khan Just because they have the right doesn't mean they should have it. And where in the video was he acting like a 2 year old?
Q : Who Over-Booked the flight?
United Airlines.
Q: Who mistake was it ?
United Airlines
Q Who dragged the person off plane?
United Airlines.
Q: Who's the culprit here?
United Airlines.
Who should Apologize for the mess?
The passenger or the Airline??
[JEOPARDY MUSIC PLAYS IN THE MINDS OF THE RETARDED]
Your right, they should have just moved him up to the pilots spot. 😂
Stop saying the flight was overbooked it wasn't
What the fuck is your problem james?
nocmsa 1:10 Can you not fucking read?
This is not the fist time united had fucked up big time. Never every will I fly with them
Keena Keena why, what do you think they should have done instead?
Zachary Bittner Had they offered 2k to gice up the seat, half the plane would be empty.
But firstly, don't fucking overbook!
Not so much cost but more convenient for the airline and workers, all u can eat and drink while being transported to ur work place LOL the perks of working for United if any.
See, this is what I'm talking about. Keena is ready to give up her seat immediately.
I don't get it whoever sits first gets the seat basic rules since kindergarten
Moh Azzam just that he paid for that seat
Moh Azzam lol it was a "crew transport issue" bullshit they do it all the time last minute decisions they make
United Airlines used a computer to randomly select the four passengers needed to off board the plane to accommodate flight personnel.
Any takers?"
People would've been fighting to get off the plane
j ray that would require human decency
Well... I won't take it if my gf is at home and her parents are staying outside that night.
They did that.. nobody wanted to. Did you even watch guy?..
@DeliciousWontons I don’t think it’ll be very cost effective later! 😂
The most insane thing is you don’t know the medical or physical condition of the person you are removing. What if he had just had back surgery or shoulder surgery?
Since when did airlines have the right to physically assault and cause bleeding damage to a passenger on a plane?
Since it was police, and not the airlines, that did it.
Doesn't mean the airline is innocent though, United apparently thinks their employees are more important than...you know, they're PAYING customers.
Nathan Melander the airline sent them
Nathan Melander negative.
The customers, on the other hand, have a right to remember and not give them business ever again.
thats one dedicated doctor. willing to take a beating for his patients.
Mike D. no doubt...no win win situation there.
Mike D can his patients sue ?
Mike D - I call bullshit. 1. Because he wasn't beaten and 2. Because according to another passenger he was yelling that he wasn't getting off and that he was targeted for being Asian
Mulinaster - You should try the "that's irrelevant" route, because denying it is not going to work. It's also reported by TMZ (lol), People, Courier-Journal, Chicago-Sun Times, New York Post, Washington Times, etc.
quenquen411 it doesn't matter abuse is putting their hands forcefully on him and causing ANY harm to him. They are not police don't try to act like they are.
He paid. They took his money. They want to transport crew, the crew can stand. Violation of agreement and rights. Lawsuit time.
You are aware the United Airlines employs people called Attorneys who instruct the airline as to what they can and cannot do. You have no "right" to be on their flight.
Eric B
That is debatable.
CCornelius I agree, I think people that need doctors help is better than transportation employees
Buying a ticket means you agree to the terms and conditions of the airline. You know, the 20 pages of legal jargon that no one reads. Within the terms and conditions states that you can be bumped from a flight for it being overbooked. You have no "right" to be on the flight.
I never fly United I usually fly JetBlue anyways, jetblue treats you like VIP and good prices.
I feel bad for this guy he should sue them that's cruel
WONDERGIRL He was a standby passenger. Standby tickets are cheaper. A standby only gets on when a passenger that payed full price doesn't show. In this case the full price passenger was just late and when he showed up they asked the standbys for a volunteer. Nobody volunteered, so the picked at random. Guy had to leave. The guy refused, most likely because didn't read his Terms of Agreement and thought he had a right to that seat. He didn't. End of story. The guy that got dragged off is an idiot
Slytherin Keeper no you are the idiot.
+Slytherin Keeper Stop spreading nonsense. He wasn't on a stand-by ticket and the "full price" passengers were employees of the airline.
If you can't be bothered to read an article or two about the incident, don't comment on it.
WONDERGIRL I want to agree with you for this tragic event but they have the right to do so
Simplenopolis i think there was abuse of force factor and i am Sorry to say that seemed the case
Goodbye United Airline....you will be re-accommodated in the market
김정수 😂😂😂😂
long time ago. they break guitar. now they drag man out. then what?
who?
I just booked a vacation and sought out United as my airline because of this incident. Many are applauding their use of legal force. The mainstream media is not giving them a fairly weighted voice.
Apparently United Airlines thinks it's Employees should come first and not the Customer...
Minny Paul and that's how it should be.. companies should always put employees needs above making money.. but the treatment of this customer was just absurd.. hope he sues..
zinov3 I agree.
zinov3 I agree that company's should value there employees But not when there's a agreement already being made between a company and a customer. This is like selling something, and then taking it back.
they could have easily put the employees on another flight. people just don't like being told no. That's why this happened.
Austin S Their plane fairs & baggage costs are shitty, never fly with them anyway.
True, I read they were considering charging for overhead bin use... >:(
Austin S Most airlines overbook, it shouldn't be illegal. Although, they shouldn't have treated him like that!
You clearly have no idea how airport transportation works. Go ahead and boycott United. Newsflash... ALL OTHER AIRLINES DO THIS.
that's so sad :( what the heck this airline is so unprofessional and so disrespectful. my heart aches for that man
sarah uden and sad thing is nobody did anything they just watched
Eric That's a little different. A person trespassing didn't have a right to be there. That man did. He paid his plane ticket just like everyone else.
Awkward Turtle its called the small print. Everything is in there. Overbooked flights happen everyday. The only why this one got alot of attention is because of what happened. I'm not agreeing with the airline for doing it because it sucks but its something that cant be helped.
sarah uden that man was giving prescription pills in exchange for sex also
United airline has the worst service, but this is beyond what anybody can take. No human with dignity should board a united airline plane.
Dale Qin United wasn't in the wrong it was the police.Did you even watch the video
United airlines was in the wrong. They are the ones that over booked the flight, not the passenger.
Is that all the CEO had to say. No apology to the man that's just sad
No more united airlines I am just disgusted
So am I. I will never board united again.
When you're earning an annual salary of over $5 million, people like Oscar Munoz (CEO of United) struggle to find even a shred of empathy to form a proper apology. It's a shame.
Emily C fuck him!! What a creep hebid
He is
That's pretty fucked up man, why would you punch a doctor?!?!
+Lohroc self defense, boxing, mma.
Yeah...this is too much.
Maybe those officers are in medical debt.
That is so unethical the way they treated that passenger. Also their reason to have their employees on board for last minute decision is just ridiculous.
the customers are suffering from their poor management! what a rubbish company.
black sheep yeah but guess what?? It's IN THE CONTRACT
+Harambe Is bae But guess what?? THIS IS NOT HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HANDLE IT AND IT IS UNETHICAL. See i can yell too
dude at start i though about all the "its in the contract" but then i read some stuff about it and it seems the contract says "Before embarked on the plane".
He was given on order to leave he refused so therefore he was trespassing.
Wow! Last time I checked we're still in a democracy right? They asked for volunteers and then this? Crazy!
Arnold Apostol .. we are not a democracy.. we are a democratic republic..
Better check again. I think the USA became a fascist police state years ago.
. . . but this isn't the gov't violating a person's rights. . . it's a corporation, which seems much much worse to me.
What do you mean it's a passenger violating a corporations rights by not leaving private property after nicely being asked to vacate the plane.
EzekielExtrensic,
Spartacus, and ONLY Spartacus, must disembark the plane immediately. Come with us, you look like a Spartacus to me.
Do not fly United.
Maggie Faragher No, do not fly on any airline if you plan to throw a childish temper tantrum because you don't get your way when a problem occurs.
G S People dont pay money just to get thrown off planes fuck united airlines lol
G S It was the Airline's problem not his though. Unless you mean in general then yes.
Maggie Faragher actually it's good this happened because the doctor is actually really messed up www.google.com.uy/amp/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4401980/amp/Dr-dragged-United-swapped-drugs-secret-gay-sex.html
AK so just because you are a bad person. you dont have right like any other human being, he paid like other customers.
for those who say he should have complied to law enforcement, cut your craps and come to your sense
United's rule 25A starting with "Denied Boarding (U.S.A./Canadian Flight Origin) - When there is an Oversold UA flight that originates in the U.S.A. or Canada, the following provisions apply..."
It clearly says "when there is an Oversold" but the flight was not fucking oversold.
Anyone think that was right, your reasoning has a fucking problem!
tl;dr
tee dee yeah but don't say "fuck united airlines" it's just a law that the crew can't fly more than a certain amount of hours and those people had to come on and get him off and also it's in the contract that they can make people get off if they refuse.
I'm amused.
tee dee oh he understood alright and he refused to comply
HIS ALREADY PAID SEAT !!!
WTF UNITED ?!
IIM KII
Speak coherently
Soo, Let's assume I've got a important meeting in another country, but JUST because I bought cheap standby tickets, someone can take my place instead?
Nice joke. UA LUL
Slytherin Keeper There was no one on standby. 4 employees of that airline need to go to Louisville, so they choose 4 random passengers to kicked out. The airline offered money to the passenger to get him off, but when that didn't work, they called security. There's also reports of the plane not even being overbooked.
The main question is, why UA didn't book for their employee before needing to kick 4 "RANDOM" people?*
The Man BETTER sue sue sue, and sue them for million of dollars.
Brian Cheng not millions, but Billions.
Mal TheMiracle he can, do you even law? I bet not.
Mal TheMiracle Assault
Brian Cheng that's what this little shitbag probably wanted
Brian Cheng airlines should sue the passenger
Where's the Pepsi when you need it ....
Itzy Bitzy i shouldn't have laughed but I did...
Itzy Bitzy lol
I'm going to hell.. I laughed louder than I should've.
I wonder if Pepsi sales gone up since?
I dont get it
can we just take a moment and clap for the lady who was the only one speaking out for the man.
the airline was damn lucky they picked an elderly man. if I was on a flight and a security guard put his hands on me I would be leaving in a straight jacket and one or two guards would going to the hospital. what they SHOULD have done is keep upping their offer for someone to get off until someone takes it since it was their STUPID mistake over booking.
That's right and they didn't even reach their maximum offer. CEO needs to go since he only apologize after realizing the stock was falling. His 3rd time.
Make sense, yep
Ok big boi
Ooooo...You're hard!
Jon Lawrence you would've gotten your ass kicked and be currently facing charges
did you guys not hear that he needed to go to Louisville because he had patients to treat smh
yulpiewsert1 and fraudulent prescriptions for narcotics to write!
doctors have back up......that's why they are ON CALL...
Right, he's invested emotionally in his job!
Right... A doctor is flying coach.
Preston Cole hes gotta go cheap
Im never going to fly united airlines
Taylor P your never going to fly anywhere
I had about 50000 united mile points cancelled by United, i have never been a customer since.
You've never even been on a airplane so quiet.
Taylor P
I'm afraid you won't be able to fly out of the country lol
Taylor P why? Because people dont read the small print and when they just hit accept its the company's fault?
never flying united. this is disgusting. ceo's reaction is even more disturbing.
Remember it was United that caved in to muslim complaints about seat assignments in January? They can't sit near women, can't be served by women, blah blah. UA complied with the muslim demands - much better to offend Americans.
Good dont. Cheaper seats for me!
JILL BECKER wow that was low...
They treated him like a criminal. No apology? Wow... what a shame! Is this in America?
You can't force people of a plane once they sit down! I'm never flying with them again!
actually, they can remove you. It's in the fine print of the ticket that everyone clicks "agree and continue", that nobody reads.
Houston Spartan yes they can
.....said the pilot.
The problem is... they can and will. even more so if you break the rules like the man did.
Houston Spartan it's not just united it's all airlines that have that rule. We don't own the airlines we're just passengers they can kick you off if they want for any reason. They would just have to reimburse you your money back.
the airline has rights, but assaulting a man is NOT RIGHT.
thefugitive1965 Pete He paid for his fucking ticket, why should he have to pay for these idiot's mistakes?
Exactly
Its left
Marc Daabay the only rights we have in America is grab them by the pussy Donald trump approves
#FuckUnited Never flying their EVER AGAIN!!
#PREACH
If I were on that flight, I would have given up my seat so he could stay on.
There is no need to use force at that level.
GHOST SIDE me too
Not a word of "sorry" in the airlines statement. SHAME!
Vicky F Why should the airlines be sorry? The passenger was pitching a temper tantrum like an immature ass. He is the one who should apologize!
"Doctors don't behave this way" lol
Im curious how "doctors" should behave in such situation G S
Exactly, DISGUSTING!
He's a senior citizen for crying out loud! They should have tried someone else more compliant and willing.
21!??? get off, the older gentlemen will stay"
Maybe they should have picked the youngest least successful person to get off, but checking their history and such. I don't know.
I understand what you're saying, but there still could've been a better option other than dragging the guy. Nothing moral about that...
quenquen411 you have a point but they could have offer more money and not only $800 for those who wants to get off the plane! I would not take $800 either if it was me but if it was say 2k, I might think about it. Now, this incident might cost the airlines millions after the lawsuit.
It doesnt matter If Its legal you can't drag someone like that poor man
this makes me so angry. I hope he sues the shit out of them. it's so messed up.
Caroline's World
1) The police removed him, not the airline.
Caroline's World "no one ever reads that shit"
You said it. It's not the airline's fault that he, you, me or anyone else signs a LEGAL document without reading the fine print.
"Apparently" despite being a video of him being dragged off.
Trump: 'more fake news, what did I tell ya'
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. THEY PRACTICED THEIR BS ON TRUMP. NOW THEY USE IT ON EVERYTHING
CAN NOT IMAGINE THIS HAPPENED. UNITED AIRLINE SHOULD APOLOGIZE AND COMPENSATE THIS MAN
He was never mistreated… he refused to get up and was clinging to the seat like a child and hurt himself. Then he went limp limbed, once again like a child, instead of getting up and walking he made employees drag him.
@@_________.Get a life dude stop spamming these ridiculous comment and go seek therapy you might need it
People don't understand: when they say get off the plane you are required to deplane. You agree to it when you buy the ticket. If people weren't so stupid, this wouldn't e a problem.
*Is it land of the free? Is it home of the brave?*
I am not saying that US isn't free. I don't wanna believe it's happening in the US...
Эйегон Таргариен it is.
They will give him a stack of cash
Mal TheMiracle not anymore
I guess it is the land of the brave, if he is brave and strong enough to beat the crap out of the security to earn his right of being seated
Эйегон Таргариен shut the fuck up.... what are you doing to contribute to the human race
and did you fight for this country.... and also america isnt even my fav country but it makes me mad when i see people disrespect the usa like bruh keep that stuff to ur self
How do you overbook a Airline?! This dude was a doctor and had patients and family to get back to and this is the respect he gets!!!
What the fuck is United Airlines? Never heard of it and will never go on it!
same here
Annie Dinh It wasn't united airlines that did this,it was the police who did it.Are you that fucking stupid and will believe anything that people do for attention?
Same!
GoldPD27 130 trig
GreySeoul k
What if that passenger was THE only medical doctor on board!? If a medical emergency happens mid flight, you all are screwed!
Just, just sue the hell out of UA, OK? I'm seeing a new millionaire right there.
Neo Bruce can't sue them lmao
Dude there's SHITLOADS of evidence of this bullshit. If United is taken to court, they're TOAST.
Mal TheMiracle The security guards of the airline physically assaulted a passenger who had just only refused to give up his seat. He can sue them for assault.
Mal TheMiracle yes you can, it is an offence regarding human rights
Neo Bruce yup he can, UA will lose this if he does decide to sue. I hope he sue because these type of assault is not acceptable.
This is why you fly Jetblue. They don't oversell their seats. Airlines need to stop being greedy and only sell what they have available.
SO much for RANDOMLY selecting this man AND HIS WIFE
Hao Wu cuz he's TOTALLY NOT ASIAN
dont make this a fucking race issue
I heard someone say all the passengers that where "selected" were Asian :/
Yes it is. What do you think if this were a black guy knocked out?
even their computer is racist...
That's the way "doc" wants it - that's the way "doc" gets it.
An absolutely disgusting act! That man who dragged him! Who taught you to bully people around like that? I hope the passenger sues the shit out of the airline and charge that fucking coward for assault! 😡😡😡😡😡😡
It's way more than bullying
Beatdown Airlines - the only way to fly.
He was randomly picked by a computer, and refused to comply to the request, thus they had no option but to use force to remove him. educate yourself.
Lizzie Fisher They wouldn't have had to use force if he would have been a responsible citizen and *obeyed the fucken law*
Lizzie Fisher They're not blaming him, and they were idiots for overbooking, but he still needed to get up. I'm not saying what they did was righ, I'm just saying that the man could have avoided the whole thing.
what a free and great nation!
I don't think the nation is at fault here....
somedude335 Oh, not the nation, never.
Bell Chu this isn't half as bad as the stuff that goes on in every other country
Over booking rules allow the airline to prevent passengers from BOARDING , it does not allow them to physically drag customers off
And the cheapskates only offered a small fraction of the $1350 limit, so what do they expect
Contract of Carriage is BS!!! Ban United!!!!!
Imagine the response if he was black😩
Can't lie. It wouldn't happen if he where black cuz you know some guards are gonna get fucked up if that where the case
Jamie Hartikari Tired of fucking race comments, probably wouldn't have even changed a thing.
well one of the police men who participated on this act was a black man. lmao sit down.
Imagine the response if he was black and gay
Alex Sardo imagine the response if he was black, gay and asian.
What a horrible thing to do to a person, BAN united
Okay, time to drag the CEO out and treat him how it feels to get whooped!
This is why you buy your own plane
Jakob rose 😂😂😂
Jakob rose
Heh heh
+Jakob rose. OK idiot
Patrick L Why did you call him an idiot
+Kennedy Ozemwogie how much is a private plane? do i have to spell everything out for you guys?
Perhaps he was wondering why someone would punch a man, before throwing him off of the plane
Would it hurt if I took off your glasses?
I dont think you get the reference
it would be extremely painful
David Pagan You're a big guy.
4u
WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED TO AMERICA ?!?!?!?!?
CaneFu nothing. try googling for 3 seconds.
they offered to compensate anyone who would volunteer because the flight was over booked. they then took someone based on the seat number and it was this guy. He refused to leave his seat.
what exactly are you supposed to do in that situation? either you have to forcibly removed the person or you have to cancel the whole flight.
CaneFu russians did it
This would never have happened back in the 1970's. Welcome to the 21st police state century...sad times you live in.
what hasn't happened
Zachary Bittner or you could have chosen another passenger.
Question is;
Why wouldnt anyone protect him?
Beating up a 69-year-old man. Nice work, United.
If the plane is overbooked, they usually stop the extra passengers from boarding it is that simple .. this is painful to watch .
Shame on the airline
You know what I am so confused about? The fact that none of the other passengers considered the abuse of this guy more important than their damn flight. Howcome no one voluntered to go instead of having this guy forcibly dragged out of the plane? It is sad that no one even considered helping that poor guy over their flight....
Ocean Princess
You can't really help if security is called
Ocean Princess Thank you! Someone who didn't want to see the guy get hurt should have just took his place. It's not like it was the last plane on Earth, just treat it like a delayed or cancelled flight. everyone on that plane were selfish, except the three that went off without issue.
This is so terrible. United is an awful airline - everyone should boycott them
I love how the title says "apparently"
Mindlesscargo and yet it is reality 😂 😭
this is the worst thing I've seen in a while
MC zoeT you must live under a rock.
There was literally an elementary school shooting not too long ago...
MC zoeT but it made us realize how sh*t the company treating their customers. This man was a hero.
I was going to say exactly what saltysenior said
You should also look into how these 4 passengers were "randomly" selected.
Are you quite certain that he was beaten?
I didn't see that on the video.
My understanding is that he hit his head on the arm rest across the aisle.
He took a blow to the face causing him to bleed.
lena mae they said how he got hurt and started bleeding
BOYCOTT UNITED!!!
How does race have anything to do with this? I understand what united airlines did was beyond humane, but hell it wasn't because of the guys race...
Joshio 24 easy to say when youre white
Joshio 24 I think people are assuming racism because there were only a few asian passengers and a majority of the passengers they pulled off were asian.
T Ko You're a dumbass.
how would you know it isn't? the majority of the ones being deboarded were in fact asian. if it we're a majority black people would it be more obvious?
maya they were selected randomly by the computer, so the computer must be racist
Looks like the United Airlines added a new meal on the menu: Chinese Take-Out
Christopher Zhang literally
yea...
Respectless....
Christopher Zhang I know right.
Christopher Zhang yeaaaaaaaaah
all my friends just canceled united airline credit card or quit their flyer program after this. It is so stupid for them to do so. Now their flight will never be overbooked again~
Wow. They're going to join the likes of Pan-Am and Eastern - *out if business*
*Wait.* No _direct apology_ to the passenger??
SupaEMT134 😂😂😂
United Airlines has been randomly selected for me to never fly again. UAL now means Uncivilized AirLines. Apparently, someone at United thought this was the "one best way" to solve the problem of overbooking. Airport security has sunken to a new low. Very scientific, right?
I and my family...will NEVER fly united again. the worst ....just absolutely unacceptable
I'll never fight united again. That could had be your brother, father or son. This is not how a customer should be treated. It's the airline fault for overbooking. People book that flight because it fix their schedule and if they change flight they could be late. Who ever still fly united, I hope you get drag next!
Does United Airlines know how to count? How do you overbook?
all airlines overbook.
Airlines do that all the time
A lot of people doesn't show up for their flights so airlines overbook so they can fill all seats
+WardForFun it was full and suddenly they need to add 4 crew members on the plane.
NBA Primetime every airline overbooks flights. Check it out. Just google it. Its cause if people cancel or don't show up they have someone to claim the seat. That why there's something called "standby"
the real shitty part is that know one fucking helped him they all just sat and watched
JaysFX they can't because cops are trigger happy and also they will get in trouble and probably wanna just get through with their flight.
JaysFX because the guy had no legal right to keep his seat..... Bet the guy didn't read the TOS agreement before he bought a ticket. This shit happens everyday, the only difference is this guy is an over privileged douche that didn't want to give up his seat.
you wouldn't have helped him either if you where there so STFU.
Slytherin Keeper he didn't want to give up his seat because he was over privileged, he didn't want to give it up because he has to help his patients. Did you even watch the video? Lmao
JaysFX that grammar though😂😂😂😂
I wish that would happen to me. $50 million richer.
after this, at least you'll never have to worry about a united flight being overbooked
i don't think im visiting th U.S any time soon im good fam
Come to the US, you'll like it here......just don't fly United here, fly American instead, much better airline.
amir sabbagh yeah the U.S. Is fucked up right now
amir sabbagh You do know there are a variety of airlines not just one
Don't want you anyway
amir sabbagh Ya I don't think things will go well for you around here cause ur Muslim...trust me my Muslim friend gets bullied all the time
69 years old? And treated like trash? This is disgusting
United airline will hopefully learn a leston because they need to smarten up quick
sue for millions #worth
Steven Lake can't lmao dumbass
Mal TheMiracle why?
supersaiyanthreegod goku just take his word for it, he's probably one of the top lawyers in America or maybe he might even be a judge
qin654 probably is.
They can make you get off of a flight. They cannot make you purchase a ticket ever again to united airlines.
Josh Meade Best comment here! Thank you!
Geez
Whatever he is,he is passenger!I will never fly united again!
#BoycottUnitedAirlines
UA could have handled this way before boarding. 100% of the blame goes to United Airlines.
Myself and my family fly all the time, to see family out of state during vacations, and I know for in the future that I am never going to book United.
Flight Attendant: Evening Passengers. We will be serving chicken/beef today for dinner. For your in-flight entertainment we have available the horror movie Drag me to hell in 3D.
This is literally showing us our future; sadly the worst is yet to come... #MartialLaw
