No expense spared on the microphones that's for sure! That's what sets Drummers Review apart from their peers. The production quality is perfect! Lots of natural room ambience, close mics to fill in the gaps and not over mixed. This gives a really honest representation of how these instruments sound in a space. Nolly... You are the man!
Not a drummer, I just clicked on this video suggestion because of the beautiful finish...this is the most incredible sounding drumset I've heard on RUclips. I bet that thing sounds WILD in the room! Wow.
Ordered my personal snare at Evetts this summer. Listened to some snare sound examples here and fell in love with the spotted gum shells. So I ordered MY custom design& sizes. Sounds crazy and I never have done so before but... Everything went so smooth from the very beginning to the delivery. And that was a long way from down under to Germany. Absolutely worth the money though and it‘s not even really expensive considering the fact that it‘s hand made and customized. I can recommend Evetts to anybody who wants a beautiful snare, shaped to his own preferences for a nice price!
I now have a 7-piece Evetts kit in Tasmanian Blackwood, thanks in part to this video review. I love it. It's an amazing kit, both in looks and sound. It's easy to tune, the drums and hardware feel absolutely rock solid and the build quality is incredible. I've owned it for around 6 or 7 months and even with being lazy about tuning it still manages to sound amazing.
Hi David, I wonder if you could tell me how you feel the Tasmanian Blackwood compares with the spotted gum? Is it slightly warmer in tone? Regards Dave
@@davehunter935 Hi Dave, unfortunately I haven't been able to hear a spotted gum kit in person so I'm really not sure I could give an accurate comparison. Mine has also been confined to my practice space for a while (which doesn't sound great) so I don't think I could give a fair assessment. But if you email Steve at Evetts, he can definitely answer that question for you.
I love that you start each of these videos with playing. Not only that, you can tell you've tried to match the intervals of the toms and bass drums with each kit. I can skim through any of your videos and immediately compare to the last kit I heard, giving an impeccable comparison between sets. Some videos of other channels have a tacky 30 second intro and up to as much as 4 or 5 minutes of talking before you hear anything, which is far too long to have another sound memorized to compare (I'm looking at you Drum Center of Portsmouth. Y'all review amazing kits but make us suffer way too much drivel begore delivering the goods.) This kit is incredible. Few else I've ever heard compares. The smaller toms are just a bit lacking, if anything. But the floors and bass drum are to die for. Just astounding.
I gotta say, this is one of the best looking and sounding kits you have featured on your channel. When you did the volume demo for each drum, it took very little for each drum to sing which shows just how flawless the bearing edges are, even with a head such as a Remo Emperor that does dampen a bit of the volume. The rim mount clearly doesn't affect the sound of the drum either, it's like it's not even there and the drum is floating. There are a lot of great custom drum companies that are not well known, such as Red Rock Drums Australia, Craviotto, INDe Drum Lab, North Custom Drums in the UK (which unfortunately just went on hiatus a few months ago while the owner focuses on his health, so here's to hoping that he gets well soon and continues doing what he loves), and those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head. I'm very happy to have seen this video after not knowing much about the company. I hope to see more great reviews in the future (hopefully one on the Gretsch Renown RN2, Pearl Session Select or the new Yamaha wood snare drums), bhe thing I would love to see come 2019 is a comparison of kick drum pedals similarly to how you've done your drumhead comparison videos. I've played a Gibraltar 6700 double pedal for years and have considered upgrading to something such as a Tama Speed Cobra 910, Pearl Redline Eliminator, Gibraltar 9800 Stealth or 9700 G Class, or a DW 9000. I'm a big fan of dual chain drives and longboards but don't know much about the differences between these pedals. I trust that you at Drummer's Review could do an excellent bass drum pedal comparison and go into depth about the spring assembly, adjustability, responsiveness or whatever other categories would work for comparing bass drum pedals. Love what you guys are doing here Nolly, keep up the awesome stuff!!
Hey y’all, just wanted to say I’d love more drumhead reviews between different companies because the Tom head video was so helpful. These videos are sick too, just wanted to give my request. Thank much
+Drummer's Review Fantastic sounding drums and quite beautiful as well. Props on the excellent demo by Nick (as usual), and really appreciate the awesome production & sound quality. I also generally prefer a natural matte or satin finish when the drum shells have a beautiful wood grain, so 👍to Evetts for that. :) Would love to get some real stick time on these next time I'm in Oz.
Certainly, is the one thing holding me back from getting an Evetts, they're just too beautiful and perfect to take out gigging! I'd feel so stressed about having them in bars and venues, with other people playing them, which often happens. I have another kit that does this now, but I'd want my dream kit to be there with me at every gig, not just hiding at home. Tearing my hair out trying to decide between this and a Sonor Vintage.
The best sounding drums I’ve never heard of. I’ll definitely look into them now! Some suggestions for future kits: Outlaw Drums from Georgia, USA or a John Bonham signature kit from Ludwig.
Kit sounds & looks very nice...Would love to hear how larger/deeper rack toms (13 x 9,14 x 10,15 x 12) would sound with larger/deeper floor toms w/legs (16 x 16,16 x 18)....
I have an evetts blackwood kit that is a 13x8 16x14 and 18x16 toms and 24x16 kick.Every show i ever played with this kit all the sound engineers would just blow thier load. Best sounding kit ive ever owned.Destroys my old pearl master and dw collectors
I agree this is the best sounding kit to date. Curious to see some Tama Star drums here (to compare with these amazing Evetts) but also some Tama SLP kits :D :D
spin doctors had a brady kit i prefer the Jarrah shells slightly over the spotted gum i think they have enough lows and the punch and the volume i believe Evetts offers 3 shell options im picking Jarrah everything, the only other option to that would be a Stave kit AVA makes one so if i could get that in slim stave Jarrah shells he puts in maple reinforcement rings with round over Bering edges something i think is a two thumbs up, look at it its the fattest round over edge ever created most likely wile Evetts probably a very advanced steam bent shell making process mold glues with a very slight round over outer and a 45 degree edge ,. SO which sounds better there probably close since there is no real great playing and recording of AVA-s stave kits and there is just enough demoing of the Evetts kits and how amazing these Evetts kits sound they all sound great i would rank them jarrah is number one and the only one really needed this gum is number two making those two the ones to get really the jarrah does everything the gum does just a little better the punch the volume like its mettle and the stupid fat low end the Jarrah has it, also the darker tones,, the craftsmanship and there finish options nice looking final product, Evetts is now the successor! to Brady making Jarrah kits, you cant really get a Brady any more if you can its top top dollar, not many left and you can not get custom sizes any more as they closed / and Evetts can produce ,. again the only actual competition i see 2 them would be a stave shell kit the only other one other then AVA would be Hendrix there top end archetype stave shell kit tho you are getting a traditional wood like say walnut so thats kind of a pass ,. with AVA im not sure if he could do a entire slim stave Jarrah kit its a maybe,. so this leaves only EVETTS ,.. its one or the other needing both probably the stave and the Evetts // still tho i have not heard anything that can compete with the Evetts Jarrah because it has the Phat punchy lows,,. so getting that kit in the exact sizes i want ,. i want to order one , sounds like a winner to me, the jarrah,. sonic-ally there covering all the bases, how a kit feels kind of matters as well nothing else really sounds this good tho ,. if you can not hear this kit is miles beyond the best yamaha or pearl or tama or DW or LudWig or mapex or a gretsch kit which in sum of these companies yes they will produce round over edges and i like them also re rings with round overs its just Jarrah is Jarrah nothing sounds that good and these other drum set companies for what ever reason will not supply you for what ever reason with a full Jarrah wood kit, more like a souped up maple mehogony birch walnut poplar ash and many others YET the Jarrah sounds the best its the sound the other companies are striving for yet not attaining, pearl can compress a maple shell so a car can run it over dense and strong but its going to be a job to work the sound out of the shell at the top level reaching the Evetts sound,,be fore Evetts it was Brady jeff porcaro had a Brady kit stashed away = Jarrah wood,, again the only other would be a great stave kit only a few of them/ brings us back to Evetts were as for what ever reason Jarrah sounds like a machine gun drum kit, it has the metallic power naturally in the wood , SO since Evetts has the formula to make us a great Jarrah wood drum kit its kind of a no brainier to get one ,. can it be achieved for under 10 grand tho,, because a kit from them is more then 3K,, its worth it tho LOL ,.
12 13 16 22 is "standard," 10 12 14 20 is "fusion" and 10 12 16 22 is "new fusion." That's how dealers like Sweetwater distinguish them. Also it's unlikely that they will do another review on a kit that they've already done, and their other videos have shown other higher quality cymbals. SBr is an entry level cymbal designed for beginner players.
Even after 4 years, these are still some of the best sounding drums you've ever reviewed. That tone is just beautiful.
Best sounding kit to date.
Exactly my thought
Insane. I didn’t hear price. I’ll check…
What a beautiful finish. They reminded me of Brady drums.
Well Steve Crawley did get a lot of advice from the boys at Brady because of their renowned sound quality and experience with Australian woods

Not heard of them, however blown away by the sound of these. Incredible and they look stunning too.
Great sounding drums and beautifully played. Great job! Really lets us hear them...
never heard of them, but I am impressed, I go check em out
What a beautiful finish...man I wish more mainstream drum companies adopted more finishes like that. Even if it's fake that look is just awesome

Wonderful review. Worth moving to Aus. for these beauts, plus, you can even buy them on tick from Evetts. But only if you live in Australia.

I was thinking a Stage or Recording custom for my next kit! These Evetts sound awesome :)
Those sound as awesome as it looks!
This kit sounded real nice, especially those floor toms and kick.. Keep the reviews coming! 😀

each review should end with a band jam, playing the drums/kit/cyms in a real setting.
How many more drum companies will arise. Using replacement parts and lugs that any of us can buy on line.
