Hello, Luke. I'm Brazilian and I live in the city of Estância, in the state of Sergipe. I'm a retired English teacher and I started to get interested in the English language through the Beatles' songs in the sixties. I've been watching your podcasts on RUclips, and I've been improving my pronunciation. I can understand very well what you say. I'm grateful for your contribution to my improvement.
This episode made me laugh a lot/ You’re always so fun, often teachers are not/ Every week you bring us a surprise/ over all benefits, so I recognize/ It’s you the one I want to show respect/ For all you gave us, for what we expect
Hello, everyone! I’ve been listening to your podcast for a couple of years now, and I’m really grateful for all the work you do, Luke. Lately, I’ve been feeling down about my English skills for the reason that I ve been telling myself: I m not good enough! I stuck at the intermediate level and no longer see any progress, that is frustraiting. But after watching this episode I feel inspired! :) I am gonna start writting a diary )) Hurray! That is so spot on: Perfect is the enemy of good! It's true that the most important thing is not to give up and keep learning the language, even if you don't see immediate results. Guys who feel the same way I d love to tell you- hang in there! We will get there! )) I would to add one more thing: stop comparing yourself to others. Better compare yourself with your past self: a day ago, a month ago, or a year ago. P.S. Luke I am sorry to hear about that awkward accident at the bakery. I could only wish that native speakers were more tactful and understandable. Perhaps he wasnt in the mood )) hehe {Kristina from Russia, Sakhalin island}
I hear you, Christina! Same problem. After 20 years in the US, I still have a strong Russian accent. I don't think I'll ever speak like a native speaker, but I hope to at least improve my English a little. I'm 64 years old.
@@michiganian-girlHello. You say that you have a strong Russian accent, it's Ok. All people who are not natives, have their own accent. And what about American people, do they understand you? What is their attitude to foreigners? Do you have the same problem with misunderstanding as Luke has?
@@michiganian-girl Hey)) I think an accent isn't a problem if people understand what you're saying and your speech is clear. Everyone has different goals when learning a language, but I believe accents are part of what makes us unique. They are interesting and show our backround! However, if your accent is very strong and it makes it hard for people to understand you, then it might be a good idea to work on your clarity of speech) Best of luck)
My English is so bad , I can’t understand anything ,, I wish be one time like u 🥺 before 1 month I started learn English with luk’s podcast , can u help me and tell me how u been like this in English and what u do when u learn i mean waht u watch on youtub
2008-2024 You are a wonderful teacher. I love listening to you talk about your past and present experiences, copying Arnold's voice and pronunciation and recommending authors. Useful, fun and moving. I've written 5 poems in English. Thank you, teacher Luke.🎉
It’s always a pleasure to listen to you, Luke ! You’re an excellent teacher and have a great sens of humor. That’s what we need in our daily lives… THANK YOU for all what you do for us. Martine
Hi, Luke. Thank you so much! With your help, I scored 6.0 in my second IELTS test, especially for my listening section, you know, in my first IELTS test, I only got 4.5 in my listening part. Now, I am preparing for my third IELTS test, it is on October 31st. Good luck to me! Well, this will be my final IELTS test. They are so expensive and torturous. I think it's time to call it quits. From China.
Hi Luke! I watched the episode about your illness experience in Japón. It was wonderful. You are such a great story teller and also your thougths and the way you reflect about it sound close to any of us, in my opinion. I mean to those of us who have felt vulnerable in any way. Thanks for your sincerity and for being open and authentic. Cheers!
Luke, this is the best episode I have ever had. You did wonderful work to put this episode together. I vow that I would listen to this particular episode again. He enjoined me to push my English language studies forward. Especially in my IELTS prep. God bless you.
Thank you, Luke. I have been watching your episodes for a couple of years. I enjoy every content you have provided and feel happy and good when listening to your episodes. I am from Syria, and my English was not as good as today. At that time, I felt depressed and hopeless that all the studying and consumption of English I did, did not appear to the surface. Today, I feel better about my English when I speak or express my opinion. Listening to your podcast is one of the things that has improved my English. As you said, keep moving, making little steps, and loving the things that you do, you will achieve that success at any point in your life and all the wonderful stuff will surprisingly reveal at the end. I compare my diaries written over two years, and I find how changes have been made to my English, it is all about practicing, studying hard, and not giving up.
Excellent! I have learned a lot, not only vocabulary but also I have learned to think about myself, what's inside me. I have decided to follow your advice and begin writing a bit every day. Thank you so much!!!
I'm typing this cause I wanna share my thoughts about the episode... At the first I didn't like the subject but I continued watching it anyway, and now I think it was an amazing episode. I don't expect someone to read this really. It would be nice to have some feedback though. Yesterday I played this episode and motivated me to keep going. I was almost dead on my journey. I will always look up to people that try to do a good job, not perfect but a good job. Thank you Luke and to everyone out there who does a good job, whatever your job is.

After leaving school, I barely studied English proactively. One day, I came across a virtual English exam and scored poorly. That’s when I decided to start learning English again :).
I really like this episode! The content is so interesting and it’s a good chance to know a little bit more about the culture. And I’m actually thinking about the second topic recently exactly, I do feel anxious sometimes if I don’t listen to English or study English in a day, but will try to be easy in the future anyways!
I enjoy the short stories.
This part is good motivation for lenders! Thanks a lot, Luke!
I don't expect someone to read this really. It would be nice to have some feedback though. Yesterday I played this episode and motivated me to keep going. I was almost dead on my journey. Man I thought I would never be good at this. But I said just keep moving forward as the episode advises. So that's the reason I am writing this comment now. I will always look up to people that try to do a good job, not perfect but a good job. Thank you Luke and to everyone out there who does a good job, whatever your job is.
Good job! You did it!
Thanks for this wonderful podcast!😊
It's autumn, and I'm feeling low on energy. However, after listening to you, I always get a positive boost. Thanks, Luke! :) I'll catch you in a chopper now.
Oh that's me! Thank you Luke for your encouraging words. I'll keep going 🫡
