  • Discover how a modified DSLR can see the invisible, and show the secret under your skin.
for this experiment i worked again with The best french UV and IR photographer : Pierre-Louis Ferrer www.plferrer.photos
We dediced to shoot some models, and see what fun experiment we could make them do to see how the Ultraviolet light would react on their skin and on different surface and objects.
Pierre-Louis invented a new way to take UV photos Indoor with the help of a massive UV ring flash and the results are incredible.

Great video. Now I’ve gone mirrorless I’m going to convert my old body to either UV, IR or full spectrum. So much to consider. Am interested about the lights you used.

Awesome! Wasn't it dangerous for the models?

How do you make a UV sensitive camera?

    • @ThatPhotoSite
      @ThatPhotoSite 7 лет назад +4

You take apart the entire camera, remove and take apart the sensor, remove it's infrared-absorption filter and replace it with full-spectrum glass. Some Astronomy sites sell this pre-cut for different cameras/sensors for around $60-$80. There's also a company called LifePixel that does conversions for around $500. After the conversion you can use external mounted filters to shoot UV or infrared or all sorts of crazy colors. (Or to shoot normal, visible light again.)

Can you do some ghost hunting with these cameras ??
Spirits are visible in ultraviolet spectrum

Do you relay need the elaborate UV sett up, to achieve this result?
Why am I asking: Coincidentally, yesterday I did experiment by photographing stuff, by simply adding 'UV pas-trough/visible light blocking' filter in front of lens and I was able to achieve similar result...

      for the photos yes

      Thanks for clarifying.
      Cool project, btw.
I want to do something similar, because I have stack of spare UV filters laying around, so why not use them. :D

Which filters did you use? And how could this ne different for photo and video?

    • @Lucy-dk5cz

3rdHalf all modern cameras have a UV filter fitted to the sensor. Meaning even if you block out most visible light the sensor won’t fully record all IR or UV. Solution, adapt the camera by removing this sensor filter. It’s a specialised task and not something to dick around with yourself.

The UV ring did not have any lamps? Were the speedlights special?
