      I wouldn't be a baseball fan I don't think if it wasn't for the Big Unit and Arizona. Baseball had been in my peripheral, I liked Junior and Barry Larkin. But man, the 01 world series. My first memory of baseball as an fan. Looking back I really had no say in the matter. I was destined to be a Dbacks fan, Randy Johnson was meant to be my favorite player, and the Yankees were always supposed to be the enemy. My complete heartbreak when we traded Big Unit to New York and had him wearing #41 😭🤣 Dang it Bernie 😅

      Yea idk. I mean running into schilling and johnson was not a gimme series by any measure. The 01 series was great for baseball. People were tired of seeing the Yankees win. But in 04, it was preposterous the Yankees blew that series. It was nonsense. It was the end, not 04. Even in 03, everyone still expected the Yankees to win. And 04 too. After 04, that went away and never came back. 09 felt lucky for them.

    not taking into account that 20 of the 27 championships were won without playoffs.(before 1969). the playoffs (along with the draft and revenue sharing) have made it much more difficult to get to, let alone win, the World Series. the 1996-2001 Yankees (5 WS appearances winning 4 of them) are a one off that will probably never be seen again, by the Yankees or anyone else. navigating the regular season and then the postseason will make it very difficult for any franchise to make multiple trips to the WS in a row or within a few seasons of each other. (forget about 5 in 6 years).

    • @Tr_1391
      @Tr_1391 19 дней назад

      I never understand this reasoning other than it being an easy way to hate on the Yankees. There were still other teams the Yankees had to beat at that time to win those championships. Yes, the expanded playoffs made it harder, but the Yankees have still found the most success during that time.

    • @michaelcrockette8694
      @michaelcrockette8694 15 дней назад

      it’s very simple, it’s called MATH. the fewer teams you have to play to get to the WS, the easier it is to win it. you can be assured that if the leagues were spit in two divisions back in the day you can eliminate probably 5 or 6 of those Yankee championships.(at least).

    Let's face it, it will be a long time before the Yankees win another Championship... You can make the case they haven't won since The Boss George Steinbrenner passed away... His son Hal doesn't have the same passion for winning as his dad did & sadly Hank passed away, who was a spitting image of George so who knows what he would do with the team if he was still alive. But it's obvious George new that his sons weren't ready to run the Yankees... That's why he was going to give ownership to his son-in-law!. But he screwed that up big time!

    Man, you make good videos and yes I’m a Sox fan but your wording of the Zimmer/Pedro incident was pretty unfortunate. Don Zimmer absolutely charged Pedro. Didn’t go out to “give him a hard time”. Granted the Sox were absolutely looking for a fight but don’t paint Zimmer to be a decrepit old man who happened to wag a finger at Pedro and was brutally attacked. Zimmer owned his part of it. Oh, Manny was absolutely looking for a fight, so was Clemens. That pitch wasn’t that close to his head and it wasn’t that far either. Both of them were looking.

    Wait a minute... Don Zimmer came running at Pedro. That's why Pedro threw him to the ground. Had it been anyone else besides Zimmer, they would gotten a good swing to the face. But since it was Don Zimmer, who was like 80 years old, he just got a swift toss to the ground and that was the end of it.
    But yeah, Zimmer probably shouldn't have been charging at someone during a brawl if he didn't want to get thrown down. Oh my bad, he only wanted to give Pedro "A hard time". Yeah if you say so.

    • @tohuvavohu
      @tohuvavohu Год назад

      how is someone running at someone a justification for assaulting them haha like imagine if an 80 year old came running up to you and you threw him to the ground. you'd probably be arrested and ostracized from polite society.
      I'm admittedly a Yankees fan but geeze. Pedro used to throw at guy's heads on purpose. Could have killed someone. but running up to him to yell at him is assault? haha

    • @joshtaylor9884
      @joshtaylor9884 Год назад

      @@tohuvavohu if there's a brawl about to take place, and someone angrily charges at you, your first thought is going to be that that person is probably going try and put their hands on you and assault/attack/fight you. People don't generally charge at people only to yell. Even if there wasn't a brawl, in almost any context if someone charges at you angrily, you're not just going to stand there and wait to see what they do. You're going to be ready to defend yourself. To imply otherwise is just dishonest and kinda ridiculous.

    Time will tell if they win another World Series. But I wouldn’t say that they will never win another World Series. I started to think that in 1990 when they were the joke of the league. It’s those down years that allow you to collect the pieces needed to win a championship. You just have to be patient. And just remember something: the Cleveland Guardians (or Indians) haven’t won a World Series since 1948. I think waiting fifteen years for a championship is a lot better than 76 years.

    Zimmer wasn’t “giving Pedro a had time.” He ran towards him with his fist raised. Any objective person who watches that footage can clearly see it. Whether or not Pedro was justified depends on who you talk to, and most of the time ppl criticize Pedro because Zimmer was old.
