The fact that they're basically creating gacha for self defense items/weapons is just deeply depressing. Not to mention depending on the state laws, they're also also illegally distributing these items to different states, making their operation illegal.
@@ioncekilledamanwithmyshoethey look cute because of the legality. If you get pulled over and cop checks out your purse, those knuckles are EASILY disguised as a key chain. These products specifically do look cheap, but there's many metalic ones that are in "cute" shapes for this reason. And putting them on your key chains works! I've never been questioned about "cute" nuckles they way I used to get questions and have to come up with excuses for a woodworking knife (woodworking was the excuse) and my og knuckles.
the self defense mystery scoops seem really exploitative to me considering the people buying them are mostly women who are obviously already scared enough to spend 50$ on self defense items only for it to be actually cheap, not even good for self defense, and sometimes illegal
It’s the same reason why that safety first boutique lady who sells the safety keychains puts me off so much. She posts so many stories (possibly fake) where she says how much her products have saved people irl and continually tries to justify the 50-100 dollar price point for bulk ordered items these scooping ppl get
Like they showed a kubaton and kitty knuckles, both are borderline, if not straight illegal in my state. Kitty knuckles if metal are considered the same as brass knuckles under Michigan laws. Who wants a bunch of stuff they legally can't take out of their house and can't use?
@@TemmiePlays I know right, in another comment I put the full list of states. And in MI for a stun guns/tazers you have to be at least 18 and I'm not sure if you have to have a concealed carry permit or not. I'd have to look it up again. I looked it all up when my husband got me a kubaton without knowing it was illegal. Edit: MI requires a CPL for a stun gun. Because you need to have safety training with it.
I live somewhere where basically all self defensive items are illegal, but most people here wouldn't know. Not only is the quality of the items worrying, but also whether or not they disclose that some items might not be legal in certain areas. I know it might not be their job to check every countries laws, but they could at least have a warning, or possibly an option to not get those items. But I doubt that's what they're doing.
im convinced they arent filming real customer orders, most of the time theyre just making things up for a good video. they lie and say people tip so you feel obligated to tip if you buy from them. its all just predatory marketing
@@goingferalluvs it's just a weird buisness model to have a service where you pay them to make content out of your order. likw, what do YOU gan from this, other than having you personal biz splattered on someone's social media lol? I get the random aspect, but asd the uploader here said - the filming of it seems to be th eonyl reason the mystery aspect even sells, so why it isn't just baseline part of the package is beyond me,
i find it interesting that in all of these scoops, no one gets duplicate items, like its statistically impossible that not one of these has dupes. its almost like its a scam
My sister used a cheap stun gun on someone and I can say they are not powerful enough to stop someone from attacking you. She used it in a non life threatening situation but if she had used it when her life was in serious danger, it would not have done anything. Please invest in a well made one if you really need it!
It would have done something in a life threatening situation: it would've pissed off her attacker and possibly have made them more violent So really, they would do the opposite of what they're supposed to. The best thing to do in an attack is to scream, yell, and go for the eyes, throat, and groin. Even on a woman, a good kick to the groin is debilitating
@franz.francisco assuming your talking about a hand gun, depending on the state your in there can be a lot of regulations around it, not to mention concealed carry is either illegal or you need a permit for it. And some places you need a separate permeate to even get a pistol in the first place. Not to mention a firearm would escalate the situation and be easily fatal against an attacker. Witch could easily result in jail time. Knives don’t have regulations around them but it could be touchy sense the law is weird about having weapons at the ready, even in cases of self defense
@@franz.francisco in a few and in certain circumstances, that seams to fall under a stand your ground law, or some other states self defense can give civil immunity. It’s not something on a national level so it really depends on what state you live in
The only reasonable thing I have seen is like artist lucky bags? basically blind bags of enamel pins/key chains/stickers that have a few defects. Its a good way to sell many flawed pieces that would otherwise take up space, plus they are always priced less. I don't mind this as its still art from an artist I like and its kinda fun to see what I get! Only a couple people I follow post tiktoks though. Its unfortunate that most of this stuff seems low quality/random trash.
I’m a full time artist and I do this with my pins and stickers, and also love buying them at conventions! The big difference is we’re designing all the merch ourselves and it’s not just random stuff bought in bulk for pennies. Unfortunately it sucks because there’s probably 100 low quality ones for every small business that make the stuff themselves
Most of the "self defense" won't actually help you! Also, several of them can be illegal for you to have depending on where you live. Like totally useless
Yeah, brass knuckles are illegal in almost all places and you wouldn't even be able to put them on in a time where you need self defense. The only useful thing would be pepper spray, but there's much higher quality spray that you can buy for like $20 if you need it
plus i heard that it's possible they might injure you more if you use them. and i think shipping sharp objects and pepper spray is not legal so they were probably fake and empty
@@mayo597 That's true, you should always expect to get pepper sprayed if you're using pepper spray. It's a lot easier to avoid getting hit if you're using the gel, but even then it's really easy to transfer, especially if there's a tussle.
You can easily buy brass knuckles at literally any flea market. It's extremely easy. These aren't some black market item that you have to whisper about owning. Anyone could buy them at anytime, anywhere.
This is super depressing. Shipping worthless garbage by plane to a seller who'll then ship that worthless garbage to a buyer that'll ultimately end up not using it and throwing it in a landfill or ocean. What an absolutely vapid way to live and a complete waste of resources.
The worst thing is most of the items don’t even work. The pepper spray bottles are empty, the key and comb knives are really flimsy, the alarms are barely louder than a phone’s speaker, and the tasers are so low voltage they barely even do anything! If anything they’re putting people in more danger
@@delusion5867 Exactly, you'd feel safe until you realise in that moment that the bottle is empty, that the knife couldn't even properly penetrate the skin, that the alarm could easily be covered up and broken and the tazer lightly ticking the attacker.
I have one of those alarms, i wish it wasnt that loud, the pin is reslly easy to pull out! Also the point of alarms isnt so much as to deter the attacker by hurting their ears but more to create noise and bring attention, its why women are told to scream and yell fire etc, its to bring attention
GREAT point about the cheap self defense stuff, you do NOT want to cheap out on stuff expecting to protect you, especially when you didn't even cheap out in the first place, you are overpaying and undereceiving!
It's even worse to me too because in so many cases you can get yourself in worse trouble trying to use a weapon you are completely untrained for and unused to instead of just booking it. I doubt most ppl buying this stuff are practicing how to use it, and now on top of the gamble for whether they'll actually be able to use their weapon in a stressful situation there's a gamble for whether or not it'll even work as intended. Hell I've heard those cheap tasers barely even tickle, and if you're close enough to tase you're already in the danger zone. Maybe you could've punched them in the throat or stepped on a foot and bolted with that time, but instead you've lost time to a falsely advertised gimmick
I would take the kitty thing and alarm but that's basically it. That's cheap to manufacture too so price wouldn't necessarily mean bad quality. I need to see those items.
These scoops are definitely a scam. I haven't heard of them in a while, so I thought they weren't a thing anymore. I remember hearing about a gem scoop but when the person received it, it was mainly plastic fake gems or worthless rocks. Even tho the video of the gem scoop showed real gems and a lot of cool things you can "potentially" get.
reasding this comment reminded me there's laws in place that state you need to ascertain ans post odds of obtaining items in lottery pools. like those " fake " toys where you dig out for " real gold and precoius gems " ( which btw, do actually pay out on the speciakl prizes - which are worth nearly nothing, but are legit ) anyways, they have t be LAW 0state the odds of winning, bc it's a random chance lottery - this is to protect consumers from scams such as the one described int he comment above mine. of you can prove they bait and swicth, you can legitmately take them to court 0 unless their operating outside of the US>
It's literally the same scam as those MLMs that like, dissolve shit to reveal your "lucky prize" that's just a fucking coloured bead or shitty artificial pearl
So I guess their only excuse to why they do a couple of 100% mark-ups is because of the experience of the scooping, but that would be like having to pay quadruple the price of an ice cream just to bare witness to the ice cream being scooped. Edit : or the gall to charge $30 for it to be filmed!
self defense items aren’t made to be ‘cute’ they are made to use for attacks. a resin self defense pick is not going to be as damaging as the real metallic item. edit: people. you can have a cute self defense items. i never said you couldn’t. if you want your self defense items to be decorated go ahead. but just don’t expect the cute hello kitty multi tool to actually be of use in a real attack.
They are also very specific, like Pinely said. If you really wanted self-defense, you should probably know which self-defense mechanism would work best for you. Having a random assortment of stuff you may not be comfortable using won't help you at all and you may harm yourself.
@@alyfreebThey (US airport security) took my gram's sewing scissors in 2003 and they weren't even cute. She's still mad about it 😂 but my point is, that's not an argument against someone wanting stuff like this cute lol
I saw one of those accounts who tally’s up the price of self defense ALSO tell you if it’s actually good for self defense and if it’s legal, 90% is illegal or doesn’t work, or both.
As an artist that likes to do little beadwork and charm things, and generally someone with the brain of either a hoarding dragon or a crow that likes to collect little nicknacks, I want to emphasize how expensive that stuff is. I hate it so much, its just little crap that you do nothing with, and its expensive as hell. I also think its so cheap that the themed stuff, ie Sanrio, is all fake shit. My guess is these creators spend $50 on Wish or Temu for a bunch of stuff, then upcharge the hell out of it. I could see kids loving it lmaoo.
@@space.captain.yuri2005 yes! it feels incredibly predatory, advertising gambling to younger people. kids love shiny little trinkets. kids are human magpies and if they see shiny, *they want shiny.*
These self defense drop shipping scams are so dangerous too. A lot of those products are illegal in certain places, and if you end up using it for self defensive the claim could be made that you were carrying a weapon with the intent to harm someone. Having something that isn’t a weapon but could be used as one is much safer.
so glad seeing bunni in this video, truly doing god's work. the filming price makes this all worse. for some reason, people are paying for this? although i know that some of the orders are fabricated by the shops
Reminds me of an ichiban kuji. It's a Japanese lottery that's usually anime or video game related. However, the main difference between those is that the items are actually worth the $10/$15 tickets per play!
XD like every single store has a lil gacha pull and lucky papers lol i have seen the online ones though which are neat. i much prefer the crane games though
@TemmiePlays I'm fortunate enough to have several in my area. I've tried a couple online ones too and they DO NOT charge extra for it to be video taped! Absolutely ridiculous that these TikTokers are charging extra for video proof. Lol.
The people selling the cutesy self defense key chains and things always rubbed me the wrong way. The items are always marked up, and half the time don't even work well for self defense. It just feels like they're taking advantage of scared and vaunrable women
You have a super valid point but i cant help chuckling at how creatively you spelled vulnerable lol. I love seeing how people's brains work when they have to spell a word
i have a few issues. 1. selling tazers is 100% illegal regardless of bedazzles in the state of Rhode Island 2. these aren't mystery at all, what are the odds to have over a dozen possible items, and NOT HAVE A REPEAT? it's actually impossible! 3. Her fake nails make me want to end life
Because it's useless. You can go try it yourself, nothing will happen. Police don't give a shit about some woman selling sparkly tasers when they're up to their ears in other problems. Police haaate paperwork.
I'm just gonna be honest here as a woman with some knowledge of martial arts + owns a Daiso safety alarm (so it's like 2 bucks) 1. Take note that even for someone who's trained in martial arts, your best way to protect yourself is to run away. If you're buying items that are meant for self-defence, understand you're buying yourself time to run away when danger walks in. If the items fails to protect you, then you're not gonna get that time. 2. There are way better items that you can use to protect yourself or attack someone. Umbrellas are great since they're longer and can at least have some stab. 3. Try comparing those kitty knuckledusters with normal knuckledusters. They look flimsy, and I feel that if someone were confronted in a situation and used that, it just spells more trouble. (plus, what if the person can't even throw a proper punch?) What about those stabby things? They're short, looks shorter than knives. And even if you're trapped in a car, car windows are tempered glass. Anyway, my best advice would be this. *Think about how the attack goes. If someone has a knife at you, how will you get to them to attack them? That's why I mentioned the umbrella, it's long and can create some distance. *Taser guns, pepper spray, and alarms should definitely be one where you check them out yourself and trust yourself to judge the quality. My trick to trying to find a quality item is to purchase physically as opposed to online. (Ya don't judge my Daiso alarm too much, it's surprisingly good actually and I'm biased when it comes to Japan stuff) *Build a good body if your health permits it. It lets you be more nimble and depending on sport/exercise/training can help to increase reaction time. *Slaps are everyone's best friend. It stings. Everyone can do it. It's the best thing you've got if you have long nails, and can't punch/don't have much experience. Put your whole body into it. *Yell. Scream. Turn on an alarm if you get one. Use your voice. *Most effective places to attack against a male assaulter is the face, solar plexus, stomach and testicles. Think of where it's the weakest. Female assaulters are rare but you should still be able to know where they're weak at. Ya if anyone can add more, go ahead.
Thanks! Yes, the girl was arrested so I could see my handywork at the police station, the guy ran away. The cop was more interested in flirting with me and he said that reporting it is pointless. They only investigate if a person is actually hurt. Apparently I was too effective. Geez, what a world we live in!@@farahsofiah7520
I live in country (and area) where unfortunately being mugged is pretty common and my number one advice to everyone is too always stay alert and be vigilant of your surroundings (no headphones and always aware of who is around you). Also know your area well, like the various shops and business and their working hours this way you have somewhere to run to if you find yourself in danger. Doing a lot of cardio basically being able to outrun/ outclimb someone is super helpful This one is undervalued but being good at hiding is also helpful a fav place for the muggers in my area is parks around dusk, fortunately bad visibility goes both ways so the vegetation can provide good cover up while trying to escape. I'm more of a professional coward than anything else so I always try to avoid direct confrontation
Some of the safety stuff might even be illegal depending on where you live and if you travel. Like my sister had her pepper spray confiscated by LEOs and my husband once bought something kind of like a kubaton you see in the video online that he learned was possibly illegal to carry in our state. I'll stick to my folding knife and pocket knife. Edit: and a maglight in the car. Dual purpose. And the knife is under the weapon cut off for our state. Know the laws and stay safe.
I should clarify, we live in Michigan. My sister went to Canada for her honeymoon, they drove. She didn't realize she had her pepper spray on her keys and that was confiscated at by customs & border patrol. Not a major loss, just something to remember when traveling. And always tell LEOs if you have so much as a pocket knife. They will cuff you and make a huge scene of it if you don't.
@@ionia2376 I never leave home without my swiss army knife my husband made a custom paracord keychain for it since it's one of the small ones and then I have a Kershaw folding knife I keep in my sling bag. And my dad makes custom pens that are honestly less than these scoops that I could easily use in a pinch. They are hand carved of wood or acrylic but have some crazy metal parts. I'd carry them over the illegal kubaton any day.
@@b4stard_sweet well at college in Grand Rapids, MI, I lived in a dorm that the path I walked back after closing shifts at the library was dubbed the "r**e trail" the year before my dorm boarded a park where my friends got mugged on Halloween. So yeah. It's a necessity. I also have 2 large pit mix dogs.
This is like the drop-shipping version of those coin-operated dispensers filled with plastic balls with toys inside that you would buy at CiCi’s Pizza or Chuck E. Cheese.
I bring this up every chance I get cause I never see anyone else talking about it but a while back I got into a spat with one of these accounts (they were called skydefensellc at the time but I’m blocked now lol so they may have changed it). But bunni had made a video on them and then they had posted a response video trying to show that their stock was not garbage. In that video I noticed that all of their pepper sprays and stun guns arrived TO them from their supplier with safety guidelines, warning labels, and instructions. However, in that same video I saw a box of that same packaging (empty); AND in their “pack an order with me!” videos, they had the stun guns and pepper spray canisters SANS said packaging. Meaning that they had to have removed the important safety instructions from the manufacturer in order to pack them “aesthetically”. 💀 All of this indicates to me, very obviously, that these self defense keychain sellers do not actually give a damn about you or your safety. They want to profit off of the fears of their clients (who are probably mostly women) and sell them an unsafe and poor quality product for an insane up-charge.
I saw a creator that was doing a mystery scoop specifically for dice products that had small defects that they wouldnt be able to sell otherwise which was cool! But they also were charging like $20
This is actually fairly common in the UK for a lot of businesses. I got my mattress, pillow, and a computer monitor for cheap because they had "defects" from a big auction house
@@me-dc8pjsame in South Africa. There are a bunch of shops that specialise in "defective" products, and you can get some great quality items for very cheap. I got a pure silk shirt for R150 (~$8/£6) because the hem wasn't done. It would normally be at least 10× that price!
I think a lot of us miss Goodie Bags from our childhood. So if you’re with friends, buy some cheapy goodie bag stuff and put them together in a decorated brown bag for your friends!

This is similar to those "small businesses" who really are just dropshippers. All they sell are stuff they got for super cheap off of aliexpress or a similar one, put it in a container with a sticker and an incredibly cheap lipgloss they also bulk-bought and then upsell the hell out of it. If you try to call them out on it they pull the small business card and make you feel bad for not supporting a struggling young woman entrepeneur. These mystery scoops are the exact same thing, but with gambling added into it.
with the self defence stuff as well, i know at least in canada anything like brass knuckles or pepper spray are illegal and probably won’t make it through customs. i’m sure lots of other countries have different restrictions as well
Irish person here, our self defence laws are extremely strict. Anything bought or in your possession the intent to harm is illegal, so things like pepper spray, tasers, even something like a baseball bat if you only bought it for self defence. A little while back there was a case where a man broke into an old man's home and the old man managed to kill him. The old man was then going to convicted of murder because he went into the kitchen to get the knife while the intruder was in the living room, so it was seen as premeditated murder.
@@asmrtpop2676 because if he was just robbing the place, he was not a danger to the old man. It was not a proportionate response to kill the robber if the old man's life was not in danger. Laws might be different in the US; I know America is quite lax about what counts as self-defense. My country, South Africa, is rather strict (de jure, if not de facto). It's why Oscar Pistorius was convicted of murder, even though he supposedly believed he was being robbed.
Fun fact, a good amount of those self defense items are actually trashy items that you could never use in a self defense situation realistically. Like bad pepper spray that doesn’t work, tasers that don’t hurt anyone, sticks that you won’t be able to use in an emergency. Trashy behavior
I’ve seen a lot of small, online businesses charge extra to have the customer’s order filmed & posted…slime shops, beauty products, etc. For the mystery scoops, I guess it helps enhance that sweet sweet gambling dopamine hit, but for regular shops where you order like normal…what’s the point exactly? You just wanna hear your name in a video? I’m genuinely curious. These packing videos seem to be pretty popular, so they’re already getting free content out of it..why charge for something that’s already going to benefit the business, not the consumer? Social media is just bizarre sometimes.
i honestly think a safety app or panic button (app or physical) would do more for you than most of this cheap tat. in some places, some of these would be considered concealed weapons, and it could be illegal to carry them without a license. probably better to learn how to get out of dangerous situations - if someone's holding you a certain way, if you're bound/restrained in any way, things like that. also, if it's a situation that you feel might be unsafe, try and make a plan beforehand if you can. plan for someone you trust to call and check in on you. have a codeword/phrase - something you can say if you think someone you're with may be dangerous and you need help. if you're alone and feel unsafe, call someone you trust and ask if they can stay on the phone with you until you're safe. if it's for your home, replace the screws in your door hinges with longer ones (as long as there's no danger of hitting anything, and provided you're not disallowed to by HOA/a landlord/etc.). if you have security cameras or plan to get them, make sure they're secured. also (and this just comes from personal experience/anecdotes from people i know so, pinch of salt), consider getting a dog. even just their barking can alert you to things you may not hear yourself, and it may even scare someone off. sometimes folks are less likely to fuck with you if that'd mean fucking with a big dog, too.
The dog thing is real. I recently lost my dog to kidney failure, and the moments I miss her most that I didn't think about are the times I'm walking late at night. I used to feel so safe next to her, and could walk all night, even through some dingy streets, without a single worry. Now I notice how much safety she gave me by just being by my side.
@@ettaz I'm so sorry, both for your loss and the loss of that sense of security. I know someone whose dog protected her from an abusive ex, so it's like this dual thing of having physical protection but also makes you feel less emotionally vulnerable.
i don’t live in the US, and so many of these items are SUPER illegal to carry around here (let alone get shipped from another country lol), your points and tips are 100% more worth than whatever these people are selling.
the "$30 to film" thing is even more egregious when you consider the fact that those videos are being used for promotion and publicity, so you're literally paying them money to use your order to make more money
This is why you get your gems from legit shops. Getting tumbled gems is also usually pretty cheap. If you‘re a crystal girlie, you really don‘t need the overpriced gems. Amethyst, rose quartz, jaspers and elementals are really good and not very expensive either. And stuff like raw garnets as found in nature also look really cool!
It's really sad women feel so unsafe in public these days, these small businesses are capitalizing off that fear and selling possibly illegal items of questionable quality. At this point I'd rather register to own a firearm and buy a handgun for my own self-protection.
The woman who made the first tiktok certainly should have maybe spent that money on learning audio engineering. Godawful earwrecking sounds all throughout from a too sensitive mic being too close.
@@eightcoins4401the obsession with it is quite American, though. I live in a country with one of the world's highest femicide rates, so there's a BIG market for self-defense - but it's not the same "vibe" as around US self-defense.

I think these scoops started out as an attractive gifts with purchases and became what they are now. Capitalism really ruins everything, huh?🙄
in USa you tip a person fro driving your food you paid for and ordered ot your house., its their job to deliver it to your house why would you tip them for doing their job? lol
@@TemmiePlays but that's because they are low paid workers and you pay them after they have done the work, so you have experienced the service. In this scenario you are paying before and you are paying the owner a tip not a worker, an owner who is being paid 100s of percent more than the items they are giving you are worth. Also to compare them doesn't make sense, as they are very different jobs, you do not tip the ice cream man for scooping your ice cream, why would you tip someone scooping some cheap gems into a pot. Espcially when that person has such contempt for you that they will mark up the products by 100s of percent.
I have bought mystery scoops for hair accessories because I think it’s fun to see what I’ll get. But the cheap self defense stuff is another thing entirely
When I worked for a fabric store we sold fabric mystery boxes and we would mostly use fabric we were having trouble selling or pre-cuts which were harder to sell
I’m glad you brought up the sounds of the videos because I genuinely had to mute the video and put captions on because the sounds were badly triggering my misophonia lmao
And the thing is tazers an illegal in every state to have under 18 a self defense item is illegal to own under 18. Some states even ban tazers in all even for police departments. Any person who sells that stuff runs a business just as illegal as drugs.
I feel like the crystal one is justified. As a crystal nerd, I know the proper pricing for crystals, and I can tell you she did get her money's worth based on the size and shape of the crystals, definitely worth $90 if not more. Granted, she was deceived into thinking she was getting more, but she still got her $90 worth.
I think the idea of mystery scoops is great especially for small business, BUT that said scammer, dropshippers, people that just pay to put their name on an item, etc are taking advantage of the concept and making it harder for genuine businesses to have fun with their customers.
It’s genuinely an interesting subject to look at because of the multiple reasons people watch and participate in these things. Of course there’s the gambling aspect, but also people thinking they are getting a good deal (crystals for example are expensive but you can get a whole scoop for how much?!), the gratification of “winning” in front of other people (in a Live or just viewers after), heck people even get a kick out of their name being mentioned on a video (it’s why lots of creators read out their Patreon subscribers, or small businesses also do packing videos). People will do some insane shit to be included. As for watching, there’s definitely the ASMR aspect, as i know a lot of people watch these videos to get to sleep. There’s also the vicarious pleasure of watching someone else win something cool, or just wanting to see what cool things are possible to win. Some people even build their own communities in the comments sections or on the lives, have friendships, and often feel special if the business person speaks or replies to them, especially on video. We’ve really effed ourselves up.
Omg i cant believe you reminded me of totally spies i was obsessed with that show as a kid but even 6 year old me pointed out the suspicious convenience of the items
I do have to wonder what kind of person does these kinds of videos surely they know they are effectively taking mutiple 100% mark-ups for no reason at all. I just couldn't do something, so I don't know how to describe it, self-centred and bascially having contempt for the person you gave it too, it's genuinely disgus ting parasitic behaviour.
idk, i see how disgusting these operations are and how much profit they make because they have no ethics, and then look at how I am chronically homeless, and I kinda think, "Maybe I could do this long enough to just save up to buy a house...."
I can totally see the appeal of it, like winning items at the fair or Chuck E Cheese, you wouldn't buy that cheap junk normally, especially for the cost you spent on tickets, but the colorful shelves look so appealing. I wouldn't do it, but I get it, maybe there's some quality sellers though.
This reminds me of the QVC-type home-shopping crap back in the 80’s and 90’s, where sad, lonely (usually older) women would call in to the shows, buy things they didn’t need, and talk the host’s ear off like they were besties! Just top-tier cringe.
I've watched some of those crystal scoop streams. They're interesting to watch but I'd never buy from them. Lol The only Scoop content I've ever been tempted to buy was Bead and Glitter scoops. I'm just a sucker for beads and glitter in general but watching pretty, sparkly beads and glitter being scooped under a bright light REALLY pleases my Magpie brain. Definitely agree about the ASMR aspects of Scoop content too!
I bought a themed mystery scoop once and this makes me feel so grateful I wasn’t scammed. I bought a $10 scoop and got a good assortment of small items for that, exactly what I expected.
i’m in high school and i live in texas and it really sucks how little our government cares about student lives and gun violence. like i could literally get shot any day now just because some redneck wants to shoot a deer or something
11:46 just imagine being kidnapped, having that $3 taser, and you take it out to stun the kidnapper but instead it backfires and just zaps your hand and you pass out...
Re the scoop with the seashell: A lot of metaphysical/crystal shops online (and sometimes IRL) will have scoops of varying potential cost and qualities. You can order a scoop of different sizes to tack onto your order. Depending on the sizes of crystals and the quality of other items in the scoop it can be a good deal. If you are a witchcraft practitioner or someone who uses crystals or bits n bobs frequently its a semi-cheap way to get stuff for your practice while buying items you already needed/wanted. The safety scoops though? Absolutely not. Garbage
As someone who impulse buys those mystery boxes, I see the appeal in these scoops. It can really give you that dopamine, but the prices are so ridiculous, there's no way it's worth it unless I'm paying $85 for a mystery scoop of high end brand name stuff. The whole selling point of at least traditional mystery boxes is that what's in the box would be more expensive than the box if you bought everything separately. I feel like these scoops can be a fun concept for certain kind of sellers, stores or events but it's gotta be like a $5 or $10 scoop.
Also comb knifes/lipstick knfies etc any kind of knifes are illegal in some states due to conceal and carry specifically for knifes so its not something you wanna get caught with
I'm surprise there was no mention about bunni's videos on how none of the self-defense mystery scoops contain stuff that actually work for self-defense. She mentions it often enough that it's rare to see someone mention her videos and not see those refutes. Also, bunni does rate good mystery scoops. If you're ever looking for non-scams, you can often find one through her videos
What gets me is when dropshippers market stuff as being good for self defense when it isn't actually useful at all like lanyards or those pompom keychains that usually end up taking up half of what the order is
I'm a non binary person in an openly nazi town, I'm not from the US. I got cat knuckles as a gift from a friend a few years ago for self defense. It's made of resin so I'm not sure if it'll be any effective at all, i still hold onto it when I'm outside because i guess i feel a bit safer holding on it, even though I'll probably just get killed in seconds if someone approaches me again because they'll probably have a gun or a knife and well, i guess something i learned from my shitty existence and multiple ER visits and police calls is that self defense will get you in trouble, whether you have these disguised weapons or not, if someone wants to hurt you, you're fucked. So don't waste your money on that, instead just save money for either hospital bills or a decent funeral and always have your mind ready to die at any second
As our karate sensei always said The best defense for a fight is not getting into one And if you do sadly end up in a situation where you cannot gtfo... make your first hit count because you may only get one chance
Honestly if you really need to defend yourself, carrying keys with you is your best option. They're more useful then resin and, depending on the laws in your area, it can't be spun on you (my country doesn't allow these items because it counts as "premeditated" if you carry something that can be perceived as a weapon, keys do not count for this though)
@@sophitiaofhyrulesadly towns like that are bigoted In some way are extremely common i know in the US they are called sundown towns and even though segregation is illegal there’s systemic discrimination in those places and still a lot of violence faced by minorities I wouldn’t be surprised if towns that were once controlled by the nazis still hold onto those values
Surprise bags on things you can get on eBay for cheap is insane to me. Usually when I buy a gatcha bag it's someone's personal merchandise that you're getting at a slightly cheaper deal than what the item would be on their store since you're not able to choose what you want
I think the market for the gatcha self defense weapons is the women obsessed with true crime who think that if they find an empty grocery bag next to their car that they are being targeted for trafficking or something
And why on one key ring?? If the attacker grabbed a hold of one thing, then they got all of it. Smart people would put self-defense items in different pockets and places not easily accessible
I’ve had higher quality scoops from mercari for witchy/gem scoop items! I’ll pay like $15 for a little baggie scoop and get tons of my fav gems in different shapes and sizes
As someone who struggles with overconsuming and gets a lot of dopamine from buying myself things, one angle I can see the people who buy the self defense stuff coming from is that it's a 'necessary' or 'useful' purchase. If they went for the accessories or makeup lucky dip, they might think it's just treating themselves and prefer to spend their money on a better quality item that they actually want. But with the self defense items, they can argue that it's for safety, and that it's better to have a range of protective products than just one or two better quality ones. I wouldn't buy this stuff, but I can totally understand how someone would see this as a conscious or unconscious loophole around spending money on something they don't need.
I got a taser and pepper spray after I was followed on my way home late one night for work, the guy was riding right up on me, so close that if I tapped my breaks he’d hit me. He cut in front of me stopping horizontally and got out of his truck and pulled a gun, I have never put my car in reverse, made a u turn and speed home faster in my life. I have no idea what he wanted or what he was going to do but I don’t think I want to know but surprise surprise I didn’t get them from someone on TikTok, I went to a local gun store and asked them for one. Way better quality and a hell of a lot cheaper
You know what you can do if you want a randomizer stuff? You can just list all the things on a picker wheel, spin it, then buy whatever it lands in and make a TikTok out of it 🤣
The other issue with the self defense bundles are that some of that stuff is illegal in some states. Not only are they cheap items that probably won’t work but someone could get in trouble/ buy something they can’t even use

I read the "tip" thing and threw up in my mouth
i find it interesting that in all of these scoops, no one gets duplicate items, like its statistically impossible that not one of these has dupes. its almost like its a scam
a careful eye would also notice recycled clips of grabbing the same items from a never-deplting source, such as the kubatons
some genuine scoop or mystery bundle sellers trade duplicates out for something else but if they film it it shows up, and these ones *don't*
A lot of time the will put the duplicate back and draw something else
Or there could only be one paper for each item so you can’t get two of the same (for the ones with the note in a ball)
They could also be editing out the duplicates if it is a real one and it's not all one take
My sister used a cheap stun gun on someone and I can say they are not powerful enough to stop someone from attacking you. She used it in a non life threatening situation but if she had used it when her life was in serious danger, it would not have done anything. Please invest in a well made one if you really need it!
It would have done something in a life threatening situation: it would've pissed off her attacker and possibly have made them more violent
So really, they would do the opposite of what they're supposed to.
The best thing to do in an attack is to scream, yell, and go for the eyes, throat, and groin. Even on a woman, a good kick to the groin is debilitating
(assuming she's in the us or somewhere else where people can own guns) why not just get a gun? or even a knife would be better than a cheap taser
The makeup scoops freak me out. What if it's fake, expired, used or made with dangerous chemicals? Makes my skin crawl.
So I guess their only excuse to why they do a couple of 100% mark-ups is because of the experience of the scooping, but that would be like having to pay quadruple the price of an ice cream just to bare witness to the ice cream being scooped.

@@ghoulchan7525probably because out of country seller does not get penalized for US/Canada law same as US/Canada seller would.
Because it's useless. You can go try it yourself, nothing will happen. Police don't give a shit about some woman selling sparkly tasers when they're up to their ears in other problems. Police haaate paperwork.
I'm just gonna be honest here as a woman with some knowledge of martial arts + owns a Daiso safety alarm (so it's like 2 bucks)
(Ya don't judge my Daiso alarm too much, it's surprisingly good actually and I'm biased when it comes to Japan stuff)
*Build a good body if your health permits it.

Doing a lot of cardio basically being able to outrun/ outclimb someone is super helpful
This one is undervalued but being good at hiding is also helpful a fav place for the muggers in my area is parks around dusk, fortunately bad visibility goes both ways so the vegetation can provide good cover up while trying to escape.
I'm more of a professional coward than anything else so I always try to avoid direct confrontation
Some of the safety stuff might even be illegal depending on where you live and if you travel.
@@snowdream2530was the intruder threatening to kill the old man, or just robbing the place?
@@kwarra-anWhy should that matter?
@@snowdream2530Lmao that’s not premeditated 😂
@@asmrtpop2676 because if he was just robbing the place, he was not a danger to the old man. It was not a proportionate response to kill the robber if the old man's life was not in danger.
Laws might be different in the US; I know America is quite lax about what counts as self-defense. My country, South Africa, is rather strict (de jure, if not de facto). It's why Oscar Pistorius was convicted of murder, even though he supposedly believed he was being robbed.
Did anyone else see that they were giving out the hand free door opener keys, like, that’s not even a self defense item.
Self defense against germs lmao
19:12 she also sent the girl who counts the price a like cease and desist
Wait, really? That’s insane.
I love bunny aka the tiktok account that shows how much the items are actually worth
to the paying for it to be filmed: the seller gets paid to do a video to literally promote their business again
"I feel unsafe, i need items for self defence. I know I'll pay far too much to get a random assortment of cheap, tacky shit"
i honestly think a safety app or panic button (app or physical) would do more for you than most of this cheap tat. in some places, some of these would be considered concealed weapons, and it could be illegal to carry them without a license.
probably better to learn how to get out of dangerous situations - if someone's holding you a certain way, if you're bound/restrained in any way, things like that.
also, if it's a situation that you feel might be unsafe, try and make a plan beforehand if you can. plan for someone you trust to call and check in on you. have a codeword/phrase - something you can say if you think someone you're with may be dangerous and you need help. if you're alone and feel unsafe, call someone you trust and ask if they can stay on the phone with you until you're safe.
if it's for your home, replace the screws in your door hinges with longer ones (as long as there's no danger of hitting anything, and provided you're not disallowed to by HOA/a landlord/etc.). if you have security cameras or plan to get them, make sure they're secured.
also (and this just comes from personal experience/anecdotes from people i know so, pinch of salt), consider getting a dog. even just their barking can alert you to things you may not hear yourself, and it may even scare someone off. sometimes folks are less likely to fuck with you if that'd mean fucking with a big dog, too.
Button > app. Cus you'd need to unlock your phone to click the app, which would take too much time. Also these apps exist but they're sketchy
the "$30 to film" thing is even more egregious when you consider the fact that those videos are being used for promotion and publicity, so you're literally paying them money to use your order to make more money
Godawful earwrecking sounds all throughout from a too sensitive mic being too close.
it's done on purpose believe it or not lmao
the fact that amongst all those cutesy little keychains and stuff theres a LIGHTER😂

Its not just an America thing.
@@eightcoins4401the obsession with it is quite American, though. I live in a country with one of the world's highest femicide rates, so there's a BIG market for self-defense - but it's not the same "vibe" as around US self-defense.
I remember a girl that used to do FREE crystal scoops with every order (she's a metaphysical store owner). Even if the order is small, they get a scoop. I used to follow her when I was spiritual. I think these scoops started out as an attractive gifts with purchases and became what they are now. Capitalism really ruins everything, huh?🙄
She's a what now???
Why would give someone a tip for doing bascially nothing.
in USa you tip a person fro driving your food you paid for and ordered ot your house.,
its their job to deliver it to your house
why would you tip them for doing their job?

When I worked for a fabric store we sold fabric mystery boxes and we would mostly use fabric we were having trouble selling or pre-cuts which were harder to sell
the hand cream was obviously for self defence against dryness
I saw a comment on one of the self defence mystery scoops were they said their items got confiscated by Australian customs.
I’m glad you brought up the sounds of the videos because I genuinely had to mute the video and put captions on because the sounds were badly triggering my misophonia lmao
Another problem with these “self defence” items is that the attacker could have them too.
Not to mention the fact that some of the items shown on the website came in packs, meaning that the price of each item is lower
I think the idea of mystery scoops is great especially for small business, BUT that said scammer, dropshippers, people that just pay to put their name on an item, etc are taking advantage of the concept and making it harder for genuine businesses to have fun with their customers.
Why do i just not understand this at all?? You dont even get to pick out the stuff yourself? Its so expensive??
Oh they don't care that they're screwing over their customers. They're in it for the money and the attention, and that's what they're getting here.

idk, i see how disgusting these operations are and how much profit they make because they have no ethics, and then look at how I am chronically homeless, and I kinda think, "Maybe I could do this long enough to just save up to buy a house...."
That "taser" literally looked like a flashlight
Also im from australia and the comments from americans are making me sad. I've never thought "i need self defense stuff in my bag/car/Wheelchair"...
i’m in high school and i live in texas and it really sucks how little our government cares about student lives and gun violence. like i could literally get shot any day now just because some redneck wants to shoot a deer or something
11:46 just imagine being kidnapped, having that $3 taser, and you take it out to stun the kidnapper but instead it backfires and just zaps your hand and you pass out...
Its like opening mystery packages for kids, but for adults who dont want toys
I want to see one with art supplies lol
Re the scoop with the seashell: A lot of metaphysical/crystal shops online (and sometimes IRL) will have scoops of varying potential cost and qualities. You can order a scoop of different sizes to tack onto your order.
Depending on the sizes of crystals and the quality of other items in the scoop it can be a good deal.
If you are a witchcraft practitioner or someone who uses crystals or bits n bobs frequently its a semi-cheap way to get stuff for your practice while buying items you already needed/wanted.
The safety scoops though? Absolutely not. Garbage
Those comb knifes are illegal in CALIFORNIA
i have been WAITING for someone to make a video ab these….. i get so upset seeing them with the stupid aliexpress items
It the facebook live pearl mlm's all over again.
What gets me is when dropshippers market stuff as being good for self defense when it isn't actually useful at all like lanyards or those pompom keychains that usually end up taking up half of what the order is
They probably get it from alibaba, rather than Ali express, since they’re buying in bulk, meaning they are paying like hardly anything for it.
I'm a non binary person in an openly nazi town, I'm not from the US. I got cat knuckles as a gift from a friend a few years ago for self defense. It's made of resin so I'm not sure if it'll be any effective at all, i still hold onto it when I'm outside because i guess i feel a bit safer holding on it, even though I'll probably just get killed in seconds if someone approaches me again because they'll probably have a gun or a knife
and well, i guess something i learned from my shitty existence and multiple ER visits and police calls is that self defense will get you in trouble, whether you have these disguised weapons or not, if someone wants to hurt you, you're fucked. So don't waste your money on that, instead just save money for either hospital bills or a decent funeral and always have your mind ready to die at any second
I will say running is almost always a better option than fighting.
As our karate sensei always said
The best defense for a fight is not getting into one
And if you do sadly end up in a situation where you cannot gtfo... make your first hit count because you may only get one chance
An "openly Nazi town"??? Where the heck do you live!? 😰
People will always pay for a gimmick over a good customer experience.
Surprise bags on things you can get on eBay for cheap is insane to me. Usually when I buy a gatcha bag it's someone's personal merchandise that you're getting at a slightly cheaper deal than what the item would be on their store since you're not able to choose what you want
Tasers, and knuckle dusters are extremely illegal in the UK wonder if they’re doing international shipping?
Ah yes, a "Portugal doll", aka an oldass Manchester United bobblehead of Cristiano Ronaldo.
That somehow kinda looks like Jimmy Garoppolo.
Amazeballs.
I think the market for the gatcha self defense weapons is the women obsessed with true crime who think that if they find an empty grocery bag next to their car that they are being targeted for trafficking or something
And why on one key ring?? If the attacker grabbed a hold of one thing, then they got all of it. Smart people would put self-defense items in different pockets and places not easily accessible
well this is sad. a lot of the buyers must be kids too.
there are entire tiktoks dedicated to exposing these accounts lol bc they're insane
Why did that first woman’s nails make me so uncomfortable
