I think it’s the sheer size of it that makes it so intriguing, like even though you can play through the whole thing, you feel like you haven’t really played through it, it’s like you want to go back and redo some parts you felt like you didn’t explore despite probably already doing a lot before
I feel the same way! Like I mentioned in the video, I'm going to be taking some notes during my current playthrough so I can attempt to understand just what it is that makes me love this pack so much. Maybe in a few years I can create something that's able to hold a candle to it.
Just wanted to say I've been really enjoying your previous series, I kept thinking I should start a run of my own since it looked so fun. Seeing that you're restarting on a juicy new patch is perfect timing for me to start playing along, thanks for that :)
I added the cactus/sugar charcoal/coke compressed blocks. I don't have much of a reason for the fuel bonus from compressing not continuing beyond that normal charcoal/coke blocks only give the bonus for the first compression into a block, so the fuel values are all actually programmatically derived from the base charcoal/coke values, so the values are just 1/4 and 1/2 of normal charcoal. I'd guess we just deemed the ridiculous burn time enough of a benefit to use them.
The longer burn time is definitely a good reason but my pattern seeking brain expected to see the same discount keep going up. Which of course would get ridiculous as you like 5x the blocks you'd be getting a ton of free burn time if you did keep getting free blocks
I'm glad to be back on the Greg grind. Thank you for the kind comment, I'm happy that there's people that are excited to join me on my playthrough again.
1. You can convert any wood tinkers part builder into oak one for quest detection by putting it in crafting grid (NEI should show you that receipe if you click on oak part builder in NEI or directly in quest book - BTW quest book items are clickable and will give you NEI receipe). 2. You can get 1:1 gravel to flint with mortars instead 3:1
I should've checked if I could convert it! The spruce one looks nicer at least. Thanks for the info I always appreciate it and always want to learn more!
I think we enjoy it (atleast why i do) is because of the vast amount of things to do. Like for me im amazed by the real life amount of different ores/metal and how they form/get extracted / processed into different things. So to be able to have fun learning these kind of things in a game is what makes the pack amusing for me. Its like real life. Great example of this is the cleanroom. At first i didnt understand but after watching videos of real life cleanrooms and what they do it makes alot of sense why its done the way it is ingame too.
We now have a mod called Server Utilities that is replacing FTB util. The /home isn't enabled by default but you can change the config to allow it, I prefer it since it saves me a lot of time.
Found this today gonna watch through the series u should have ore miners by iv tho which i feel need to be just spammed otherwise the mineing becomes ridiculous.
Two packs that you may or may not enjoy (and have probably played before) are SevTech: Ages and TerraFirmaGreg. I've played a bit of the former and I like how barebones the tech progression is. I haven't played the latter, but it plays like Vintage Story + Greg Tech. That is, lots of actual survival and then industrialization.
I played Sevtech ages a very long time ago, before I started my RUclips channel. I remember liking it, maybe I should revisit it someday. Terrafirmagreg might be going too far towards grind. I like having to earn progression but there's a point where it's too much.
I just restarted aswell for 2.7. I only just got to HV on my other world but i didnt setup the overworld base very efficiently for steam/lv/mv so i wanted to optimize it better for efficiency and performance in long run.
I invested a lot of time into good steam and LV setups and had mostly rushed through MV and HV. It's working out really well, the plan from here is to rush AE2 and rebuild an actually good base in the personal dimension.
There are little dungeons with spawners and loot that are covered in dirt and look like a hill. I removed the spawners and made it a base as its on a flat area with plenty of room for different fundamentals for a run. Crops / bees and machines. I would recommend one of these structures for other new players but they seem rare as i only ever found the one so far.
you should be able to press escape to unbind buttons completely, it helped me out a lot learning this with all the bloat in terms of binds that packs have.
2:08 actually same. idk why but to me nothing is as addictive as gtnh. talking not only 'factory' games here but games in general. I don't even remember when I last played something almost all my free time for many days in a row also now that I've experienced gtnh thinking about past 1.6.4 greg playthroughs feels weird because I found them as fun and painful and I thought it can't get much more difficult than that but in reality 1.6.4 greg is nothing compared to gtnh. I'd complete it while in gtnh I'd only get to the moon sorry if you say this later in the video but are you aiming to complete gtnh? or maybe just get very far and see how you feel about finishing the pack? or maybe you don't wanna set goals and just enjoy the pack?
My main goal is to at least get to fusion. I think they're really cool and want to learn how to use them. I mentioned it in another comment but for me there's a point where GTNH changes it's genre and it starts to feel a lot less like minecraft to me and I start to get tired of it. The real goal of this playthrough is for me to understand that and apply it to my own work in the future.
@@aspectsoundsyeah I probably should've checked other comments before asking but yeah fusion is cool and I've seen late game episodes and I totally get what you mean with the game becoming different later. I'm at the stage of first fusion myself and I'd say it's still pretty much minecraft so that shift probably happens much later. either way I hope you get to enjoy gtnh wherever you are in the end :)
Playing GTNH and considering mod dev? I've heard somewhere the true end game for GTNH isn't Stargate, it's developing for GTNH lol Good luck in your run, you aiming for Stargate or some tier earlier?
I probably won't make it to Stargate. There's a point where the genre of the game changes and it doesn't feel like minecraft anymore to me and I expect that I'll stop there again. Part of my process with this playthrough is to figure out where that point is to me. My main goal is to make fusion reactors because I think they're cool, after that idk
The seed is -8570034261293563917 if you'd like to have it for yourself. My nether kinda sucks but the overworld was super lucky with the Pam's trees that I got.
@aspectsounds the rail craft villager will trade 32-40 emeralds for a steam locomotive. The steam locomotive will turn into 17 steel dust and you can use a smeltery to turn it into steel. Rail craft villager also trades 2 emeralds for 12-20 button or Redstone track and those in the smeltery give you iron ingots at one each, and railcraft villagers will buy vanilla minecarts for 6-8 emeralds. To get what you need you just need some emeralds and a railcraft villager. If they don't have the trade you want, do the trade they have once, exit the gui and they'll usually have a new trade. If that's not the trade you want, do that again with whatever the newest trade is. This is also how you restock trades.
@@yugioh1870 It saves more time because you also have to consider the time to mine and process the iron to make into steel. I'll look into doing this. I also want to do a cactus charcoal setup for faster BBF processing so I'll see how worthwhile it'll be for my playthrough.
it's a beta version, the official version isn't out yet. It will be in a few months probably but if you'd like to play it early go join the GTNH discord and check it out.
Redgarding your music content not hitting, do consider that RUclips does not at all aim to advertise a channels content to seperate audiences. If you want to do multiple different things, multiple RUclips channels would probably be the best.
I've thought about making another channel for it but I do like having everything that's made by me organized in one spot. It will actually tie into the minecraft stuff one day if my plans come to fruition (which includes making my own mod and writing the ost to it lol).
This is not a fully released version of the pack yet, I am on the beta-3 version. The final stable version should be out within a couple months, but if you want to play an early version like me, I downloaded it from the GTNH discord. I suggest using MultiMC to set it up so you can easily update to the stable version once it's out, there's good videos on how to use MultiMC out there if you never tried it.
I love GTNH. I talked about it a bit in the video but for this playthrough I'm taking detailed notes about what I like and don't like about the progression because I have aspirations to create my own ambitious overhaul mod that combines tech, magic, and exploration in a cohesive way. I hope you'll stick around for the journey!
🤌

Gregtech New Horizons is so good, it pretty much ruined Minecraft for me. No other pack really scratches that same itch.
I feel the same way! Like I mentioned in the video, I'm going to be taking some notes during my current playthrough so I can attempt to understand just what it is that makes me love this pack so much. Maybe in a few years I can create something that's able to hold a candle to it.
Same, except Nomifactory CE. It has something about it that I really enjoy, propably the simplicity
Same im addicted
this video was in my recommended, pretty nice!
seems that i'm discovering more gregtubers by the day

I saw you use the /home command, is that in GTNH now? Or is that something you added? Awesome content btw

@aspectsounds awesome, thanks for the info!
Love your content!
glad to see you are back to greging.
The bq_admin bit was very based thank you aspect
Also wow those Pam's trees are lucky
I wasn't putting up with that quest requirement lol, I literally did what it asked. Don't let the game play you!
Glad you're back😊
Glad you came back to watch! I'm so happy with the response to this series, thank you for the comment!

I actually didn't know this I always just put every single hotkey on numpad 7 LMAO thank you for this advice
epic! :3
terrafirmacraft with GTNH would be a evil creation
This actually exists already look up Terrafirmagreg
Also gravitas 2
Eyyy welcome back
Thank you! It's good to be back, I'm looking forward to this series.

S3? Hot damn....
I've played GTNH for so long I remember when the Natura clouds used to spawn in the overworld...

@aspectsounds I've wanted to get to the DTPF for a while, I know it's late game but it's such a cool multi block.
Looking forward to your run
@@aspectsounds atleast make EoH bruh
New aspect gaming lfg
Mod dev would be really cool
If there's enough interest in it I'd be happy to share my journey with it!
What you think about Zombie and Gregtech, im constructing a modpack like that, Apocalypse Greg, it is on the new version, and i wanna make it hardcore
Will you be sharing the seed for this play though, just starting the new version fresh

@ That’s Great going to try it and see if I can keep up.
Have you considered the cursed villager path that lets you skip bbf
No what's that? I've never heard of it. I'm already mostly there to my bbf but I'm still interested.

@yugioh1870 That's unhinged but interesting lol
@aspectsounds 20 minutes for 4000 steel dust at peak efficiency. Regardless it's much faster than BBF crafting
@@yugioh1870 It saves more time because you also have to consider the time to mine and process the iron to make into steel. I'll look into doing this. I also want to do a cactus charcoal setup for faster BBF processing so I'll see how worthwhile it'll be for my playthrough.
hello there

Exactly. Gtnh has ruined other packs/games for me.

Why dont you continue your old run?
I didn't like my base that much, I forgot totally where I was at, and I really just wanted a fresh start.
