This modpack is so fun and you just make it that much more entertaining! I love your editing and the flow of the videos as well as the "interventions" when you explain stuff, talk about future plans, give advise and all that. About the base I advise you to put some time, even a little bit, beauty-fing it. I can only guess how much time you already put into this game, but making a little bit less progress in an episode or two and than having something nice to look at for the rest of the series is definitely worth it in my book! Either way I love your content and your energy!
you were asking about ideas for the base. How about making the overworld design like 'real' Factories from the time of the industrial evolution. so your topmost layer looks like A Factory/Pit Frame/Traditional Blast Furnace with a miners town. and below your top level there is your base like seecret Lab 'hidden'. Like in Spy movies with a massive complex of rooms/floors with hightech furnishing below an inconspicous old Fabric building Just an idea how to incorpurate small Buildings (like in the Collection series) with an interconnected Base. Maybe even with multiple entrances from all the buildings. And the contrast would make it possible to experiment a lot with the building. as an inspiration maybe use "Zeche Zollverein" for the topside Buildings
Hm, Maybe it's too much detail for a Greg modpack, but i actually really like the idea of having *MULTIPLE themes* like "Simple, earthly" for some of the ground level builds (mainly farms, outside machinery), "Tech, futuristic" for inside/underground parts of the base, like literally machine rooms, crafting workshop, places you visit much, maybe a bit themed too (like different tints of materials for item processing/chemical processing/power room or something like that) so it's nice for the eyes, maybe even experiment with small details like in the Inferno modpack. "Specialized, thematic" for all the special means like magic mods, AE2, etc that has it's own distinct theme because... yeah its cool "Backdrop,unspecialized,in-between room" for basically all the service tunnels, tech basements/cellars where it's plane, but plesant clean corridors and room filled with pipe and wire lines, hiding all the Direwire and service conduitwork... Oh, also, *BUILD INTO THE MOUNTAINS* i like the feel of having the fake "ground level" with base underneath, but also there is walls of clear glass in the mountains encasing the valley, with multiblocks inside.
@@mrShift_0044 maybe even having something like a mechanism that opens the ground or Mountainwall on a button press. many modpacks have stuff like that in their toolkit. it is why i love modpacks it is not just Quest Progression but also giving the player a toolkit at hand to do cool stuff. maybe its a waste of material energy and time but it's freaking cool
Fun trick; From the moment your blast furnace can smelt the dust, aluminum is effectively infinite. Macerating plant balls makes dirt, dirt and water in a mixer makes BoP mud, mud in an extractor makes clay, and electrolyzing clay dust gives aluminum dust.
Once I had a lathe and especially an assembler with that, it was very easy to make lots of crop sticks. Breeding suger cane via crops to get cane that gives sticky resin is fairly easy. It made my life far easier once I grew a decent amount of sticky resin reeds on crops. You can of course get a whole bunch of other useful crops with cross breeding as well.
Getting into the crop early is actually really beneficial because of exactly that, but that comes with drawbacks of having to deal with weeds and weaker stats as fertilizer and watering halt the progress with getting special crops or just the ease of crop dealing in general.
steam grinder - that's the machine which i'm making even before making steam extractor. it's extremely useful even if it cost few stacks of bronze... instead of sticky resin - find a slime island and start growing slime trees - useful now, but it will be even more useful later in lv as a source of glue (in centrifuge) and rubber. start buying tin and red alloy cables using coins! also make a spruce field for your lumberaxe then start using planks as furnace fuel.
@@Threefold. you were also saying that water will be the issue until hv, while at steam age (take a look on a side quest for molds) you have already solution for non humid environments ;)
This series is great. People who dont play this pack probably don't realize just how much work you put in here. I cant imagine all the hours of setting up, keeping yourself organized, gatehering materials and so on that you have had to do to keep these videos coming out with so much content and on such a quick schedule (and that's not even to mention the excellent and likely time consuming video editing your doing). Your pacing of the pack in these videos has been phenomenal, I don't feel like I've missed anything yet they all cover a great amount of content well moving quickly and succinctly. Lots of entertainment, Lots of information, little wasted time. Well done.
Loving the series so far! GTNH is insanely daunting and I love that you're taking it on. As far as the base goes, it would be cool if it was based on a mining operation. You could do an Old West-style "company town" in the middle of the valley, where you could have some bulk storage/automatic crafting, as well as a "general store" ME terminal, a "saloon" for any food setup, and houses and siloes for other kinds of bulk storage. Then, you could have a mineshaft leading into both mesas where your main base could be held. I think it would be a nice mix of both aesthetics and function!
Interesting that you found enough silver for solar boilers, when I started I didn't really get how valuable it was so I didn't keep much. Though honestly in retrospect burning coal wasn't the end of the world. Also while I concur that the macerator is slow as hell diverting some steel into a couple of high pressure macerators is probably worthwhile especially since you have plenty of steam and their just as fast as LV macerators, just less steam efficient.
Tip: If you have a bucket of blood (you can find blood pools in nether) you can break burning blossoms by placing that blood on the flower without taking damage. Also blood works like water in nether so you can make obsidian with it and extinguish yourself when you're on fire. Longsword from tinker construct is a very good movement tool for early game.
there actually is a better way to get infinite water before HV. The thirsty tank from automagy is available in lv, as it doesn't need any thaumcraft progression other than the iron capped wood wand, which can be crafted with only minor lv progression, provided you can find an aluminum ingot while traveling also, I'd highly recommend getting the steam grinder and steam oven. they might be a little expensive, but they're worth it as they will be the fastest option you have until HV
I rarely ever subscribe to channels, only when I see something that I genuinely can't stop watching, and this is it. Your videos are honestly great and you're my go to youtuber for modded Minecraft. keep it up dude.
Found this series while trying to find some video to learn what GTNH is about, and honestly I'm blown away. Entertaining person + amazing editing + friendly voice + pleasant accent = I'm hooked.
Loving the episodes! You can make a thirsty tank from automagy in LV to deal with your water problem, and then you can build anywhere, or use it for a multifarm or whatever. You only need 1 aluminum to make the wand for thaumcraft. Can get them as drops from kobolds in the Twilight. It's in the automagy tab. Research is Hungry Chest - Greedy Chest - Thirsty Tank. Also, dont think ive ever seen you use it before, the Charcoal Pile Igniter is super nice in LV too. Can make you around 15 stacks of charcoal with around 10 stacks of wood in a max size one in around 30min or so. The slimy trees from tinkers are nice for rubber too if you can manage to find an island. I got a slimy sapling from one my very first lootbags hehe
I literally forgot to press the fullscreen button until I was like 8 minutes into the video, I think that says something about how entertaining they are.
I noticed you connect all pipes manually, you can save yourself some clicks if you shift right click to place pipes! they'll connect to whatever you were aiming at when you placed them
the green dungeon puzzles (mineswiper/Game of Light) can give hv pumps and stainless steel pipes which you can use to get the better water generator early. you already found one and can find more using the ore finder wand
I think it would be really cool to have your base "wild west" themed since you live in this giant canyon.... or should I say grand hehe. Railroads with trains and train stations, the water towers could actually be literal water towers with the water tanks, saloons, barns, outhouses, etc. You could even make it a space-cowboys type of thing since you'll eventually be going into space lol.
Its my first time watching a series of greg tech and I'm loving it, would be cool if u built an area to showcase a map of the base and some achievements!
I liked the changes on the layout of the base, also love the song of one timelapse. Wow those piston boots are great. Also congrats for the first circuit!
I never played this pack but my goodness you are committed to the grind my man. Gives me inspiration to keep on My PO3 Mythic mode playthrough. Keep up the good work. For base ideas a steam punk wild west theme might be cool, the rocketry on the top and a rail station on the bottom, "Now with connections to the End, Twilight and all points north, boarding now"
If you want low durability tinkers stuff to turn indestructible VERY quickly. I would recommend making 1 part from paper (only need one part paper) and the rest wood. Paper gives 4 modifiers without leveling (use it for 4 levels of durability). Wood gives mending over time. After leveling up put on the last modifer it to become undestructible. Then swap out the parts you want for beter parts.
If youre thinking vertical building, don't rule out building up into the sky, gotta launch a rocket eventually. The best suggestion i'd give is make all the different foods you can with what you've got and have a nom session. Don't forget to upgrade the pipes throughput for some machines, or even gear down so the machine doesn't explode. hard to figure out what happened as a problem if every time i have one my shop gets blow up.
Three, please just go for stickreed instead of harvesting rubber trees. Trust me, its a billion times faster and in order to breed it up you just have to crossbreed a bunch of sugar cane. Once you progress a tiny bit more in LV you can get the new crop harvesters that completely automates your production of sticky resin and its just one less thing to really worry about. you can also use those harvesters to automate your wood for automating steam using Bonsais. Please do consider it for your own sake ! Loving the series !
I actually think this was the point in GTNH that I got bored and did some other GT pack, because the grind was just... too mind-numbing for me personally. The sheer quantity of resources needed to get to that point is just insane compared to most other packs. While this episode is shorter than the others in the series, it probably represents more IRL time between off-camera mining/clearing and montage cuts. Congratulations on forward-planning and future-proofing your base layout. Can't count the number of times that has bit me in the posterior. Make sure your floor height is tall enough to accommodate the buildings you plan on using there, plus enough room to handle all the attachments. For myself, between floors I typically have a two block wide 'service corridor' or if you're a real nerd like me, a 'jefferies tube' to run pipes, and later on run conduit, cables, wires, and other critical infrastructure where it isn't just laying out in the open. Don't want OSHA complaining about bare wiring and code violations after all.
All Nether and End variants of ores (any ore found in those dimensions) grant double output, macerating doubles it again so macerating Nether or End ores give 4 crushed ore. This gets really fun when you get crops or bees which quadruple that, the most extreme being Cassiterite which can get you 32 ingots from 1 block of End Cassiterite. The Ore Finder Vein works based on Ore Dictionary so if you put stuff like a ingotTin it looks for oreTin but Cassiterite is oreCassiterite so you won't be able to detect Cassiterite using it. Because of this it is best to use Cassiterite and Cassiterite Sand when using the Finding Wand.
Maybe you should make the outline of your border walls be in one chunk and your base in the adjacent chunk that way anything built near the walls is in the same chunk, also maybe avoid building in the void dimension because the void dimension people get bored and keeping machines in the overworld keeps things ✨ spicy ✨
Hey three, if you have an excess of bonemeal and if you're able to make a dispenser then you can automate bonemealing the trees. Unfortunately you can't place saplings using a dispenser so if you don't have access to a block placer then you'll have to switch between saplings and your axe. Slightly less tedious than switching between three items awkwardly
When I started I made the mistake of not rushing a circuit assembler, and it makes circuit crafting cheaper and is VERY useful early on after the other material efficiency machines
If you can find a slime island, those slimy trees are way more efficient than rubber wood. Using coins to buy sticky resin can also last you all the way to mv when you can start auto farming stickreed.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I worry you might be making the same "mistake" as before again. You have your storage room fairly far away from your machines, it seems like you gotta go down 2 or 3 stairs to reach them. I just wanted to bring it up, as I found it quite sensible to say, that one should have machines and storage closeby. So I just wanted to point it out. As always, I loved your vid and hope for many more to come :D Though don't over do it, take your time and enjoy this... experience.
love these vids! seeing an upload makes me smile because I know it's finally some relief from my son's incessant blood curdling screaming constantly coming from the basement. He's not trapped, he is there willingly and I don't know why he likes it or what he does down there. Anyhow, love the minecraft content! #weusedtobethemineys
Hi Threefold, is there any chance you could at the beginning of each episode put how many hours you have been playing for? I'm curious to see how much time passes in-between episodes! I just started out with gtnh for the first time and am playing the same seed as you and I am totally hooked on this mod pack! Your videos are awesome!
Hey Three, Super happy about the new GTNH series! I was curious, which launcher do you use for this modpack? As I've noticed stability irregularities between them
Iam using 1 Water Railcraft Tank at 80% Humidity per High Pressure Solar Boiler (Totaly of 4 Tanks and 4 Boilers) and its enough with a full 4x4x5 Tank to run Steam Furnace; 2 High Pressure Macerators; 1 High Pressure Alloy Smelter and 2 High Pressure Forge Hammers at the same time for 5 Minutes (mroe or less at least) if not u can let them run kinda infinitly setup is strong enough though
so much work, though one thing I would say is a priority, is cleaning up your work areas, there's something about having a machine room, that you're in all the time, remaining full of ore and junk in the floor and walls, for basically the entire game...
Is there a version of the pack with normal crafting recipes? Same mods, same quest book, because i love your series, but dont have the time to grind that much
Would be so nice to see you beat the Dungeons Dragons and spaceshuttles pack…. Or Sevtech Ages which seems somewhat related to the pack you are playing right now
The ore finder wand didn’t work because it was looking for tin ore, not cassiderite Forge hammer is better for coal Multiblock macerator is worth considering soon Slime trees are way better than using rubber trees
Maybe have a roof for the overworld factory complex which has that old-timey saw-tooth profile with Glass and something not-Glass. Stuff like that just screams "industry"/"machining"/etc. to me.
welp, guess this is the end for me. I decided to only watch your videos if its at the same spot in the progression I am, and here we are. You're less than halfway through year 2, and I'm almost on year 4 lol. Oh well, your videos were entertaining, and I look forward to coming back when I make more progress. I'm just taking things slow and having fun building big brick buildings

Like in Spy movies with a massive complex of rooms/floors with hightech furnishing below an inconspicous old Fabric building
Just an idea how to incorpurate small Buildings (like in the Collection series) with an interconnected Base. Maybe even with multiple entrances from all the buildings. And the contrast would make it possible to experiment a lot with the building. as an inspiration maybe use "Zeche Zollverein" for the topside Buildings
Hm, Maybe it's too much detail for a Greg modpack, but i actually really like the idea of having *MULTIPLE themes* like "Simple, earthly" for some of the ground level builds (mainly farms, outside machinery),
"Tech, futuristic" for inside/underground parts of the base, like literally machine rooms, crafting workshop, places you visit much, maybe a bit themed too (like different tints of materials for item processing/chemical processing/power room or something like that) so it's nice for the eyes, maybe even experiment with small details like in the Inferno modpack.
"Specialized, thematic" for all the special means like magic mods, AE2, etc that has it's own distinct theme because... yeah its cool
"Backdrop,unspecialized,in-between room" for basically all the service tunnels, tech basements/cellars where it's plane, but plesant clean corridors and room filled with pipe and wire lines, hiding all the Direwire and service conduitwork...
@@jonny0s This pack has ProjectRed which is really nice for stuff like this with the motors and frame blocks
Good tips here! I forgot about a few of these. Thank you :D
@@Threefold. you were also saying that water will be the issue until hv, while at steam age (take a look on a side quest for molds) you have already solution for non humid environments ;)
thank you for your thought process during relocation of the base. made me think about many things myself in my worlds. thank you
Glad I could help you out a little. Good luck with your own bases and endeavours :)
Well done.
It's certainly a challenge, but a very rewarding one. Thanks for taking the precious time out of your day to watch the episode :D
God, I still think your montages are easily the best of anyone in this youtube niche. Another great episode Three, really loving this series!
:D
Also while I concur that the macerator is slow as hell diverting some steel into a couple of high pressure macerators is probably worthwhile especially since you have plenty of steam and their just as fast as LV macerators, just less steam efficient.
how can one be so fancy in their way of speech yet so damn not at the same time
Seeing these old textures after playing in 1.18 a bunch is so trippy
1.18 has lots of amazing new changes, but there is still that charm of going back and playing the older versions. :))
Best series everr!!!! And the madness hasn't even started...
there actually is a better way to get infinite water before HV. The thirsty tank from automagy is available in lv, as it doesn't need any thaumcraft progression other than the iron capped wood wand, which can be crafted with only minor lv progression, provided you can find an aluminum ingot while traveling
also, I'd highly recommend getting the steam grinder and steam oven. they might be a little expensive, but they're worth it as they will be the fastest option you have until HV
The song synced to the blocks is sooooooo satisfying
Can't get enough of your vids Three! I've binged all your older stuff and eagerly await the newest one to come out. Doing amazing stuff
I got an lv solar cover from one, which I put on a battery buffer. Got me through lv
You put so much efforts and quality in your videos! Thank you Three for the content
Im so glad i was able to catch this while its starting so i dont have to watch hours of content once its done, going to be so fun!
I loved the music synced water tank placement :D Very satisfying
Feels like I'm sayin this every episode but the production quality is actually insane
Season 2 would be EPIC!!
FIRST three, started getting all the quest rewards and now he can calculate correctly!!
Always a good day when threefold uploads
I'm looking forward to what the base will look like! It's an ambitious undertaking, but I think you'll have loads of fun with it!
I never played this pack but my goodness you are committed to the grind my man. Gives me inspiration to keep on My PO3 Mythic mode playthrough. Keep up the good work.
For base ideas a steam punk wild west theme might be cool, the rocketry on the top and a rail station on the bottom, "Now with connections to the End, Twilight and all points north, boarding now"
At 16:15 when you say "now it's starting to buffer" the video buffered for me xD
Of you can get some slime saplings the congealed slime gives a lot more raw rubber per tree.
I am really enjoying this Horrifying pack👌
Upload 30 of telling Threefold to keep up the great work! Its been over a month! Super excited to see how you finish out this pack :D
Well put together episode! Just found your content and will be staying up to date with this series
Nice, great to see you here Alpha! Have an awesome day :D
Keep going man, really looking forward to this season of GTNH
Hey three, if you have an excess of bonemeal and if you're able to make a dispenser then you can automate bonemealing the trees. Unfortunately you can't place saplings using a dispenser so if you don't have access to a block placer then you'll have to switch between saplings and your axe. Slightly less tedious than switching between three items awkwardly
Now the pack actually begins!
Massively addicted to this series
Always look forward to these uploads!!!!!
9:50 the block placing with the beat of the music ahhhh chef's kiss three chef's kiss i know it pry sucked editing it but damn was it good
When I started I made the mistake of not rushing a circuit assembler, and it makes circuit crafting cheaper and is VERY useful early on after the other material efficiency machines
@1:49 that is a Lava Monster. They spawn fireballs similar to blazes, and are harder to fight, as you cannot get easily to them.
Fun episode! Thanks for the content.
If you can find a slime island, those slimy trees are way more efficient than rubber wood. Using coins to buy sticky resin can also last you all the way to mv when you can start auto farming stickreed.
Hey, just to mention, you can use slime woods instead of rubber trees, it's much more efficient.
Three, the only suggestion i have for you is: take it easy, pace yourself, and take a break if you feel like you're burning out ❤️❤️
Nice series so far, keep up the good work.
As always, I loved your vid and hope for many more to come :D
Though don't over do it, take your time and enjoy this... experience.
I never watch Let's Play videos, but for some reason, I enjoy watching yours.
I hope I can learn some base designing tips!
Great episode as always
Would love a quick over view of the base each episode. Stand on top of the cliffs to see the layout
love these vids! seeing an upload makes me smile because I know it's finally some relief from my son's incessant blood curdling screaming constantly coming from the basement. He's not trapped, he is there willingly and I don't know why he likes it or what he does down there. Anyhow, love the minecraft content! #weusedtobethemineys
best modded series on youtube
Cant wait to see the first voltage explosion.... I mean you can do it Three :P
Really enjoying your vids. Thank you!!!
Loving the series three!
Having the base go above ground all the way up to the top of the mesa would be cool
Your videos are super well made.
Use nether furnaces, they consume twice as less fuel as the usual ones.
You can get sticky resin from slimeballls. Slimeballs can be easily obtained from slime islands
Hey Three, Super happy about the new GTNH series! I was curious, which launcher do you use for this modpack? As I've noticed stability irregularities between them
prism launcher works 100% fine
@@aidencraft32 Can vouch, GTNH works perfectly with Prism. Been doing my first playthrough on it.
There is a detailed guide on my pack setup in the pins of my discord. I personally use MultiMC, but of course other options are available :)
favorite series on yt!
Fantastic work as always
Iam using 1 Water Railcraft Tank at 80% Humidity per High Pressure Solar Boiler (Totaly of 4 Tanks and 4 Boilers) and its enough with a full 4x4x5 Tank to run Steam Furnace; 2 High Pressure Macerators; 1 High Pressure Alloy Smelter and 2 High Pressure Forge Hammers at the same time for 5 Minutes (mroe or less at least) if not u can let them run kinda infinitly setup is strong enough though
one suggestion: railways around the valley - an industrial quarry feel perhaps? :)
I'm going to be giving this pack a go.
"Yeah its my fathers axe, i just had to change out the head and the handle"
- tinkers construct in a nutshell
The tool of Theseus 🤔
so much work, though one thing I would say is a priority, is cleaning up your work areas, there's something about having a machine room, that you're in all the time, remaining full of ore and junk in the floor and walls, for basically the entire game...
Totally agree! It's a priority :D
@@Threefold. I do love build montages. here's hoping you have a good ride to the endgame! it's going well so far!
Whenever you say piston boots I think "You did what in your boots?"
I'll leave a like even before I start watching this episode
Love to see you back in GTNH, have you considered having part of your base suspended in the air supported by the sides of the valley?
Can't wait for you to conquer the multiverse in mc
Is there a version of the pack with normal crafting recipes? Same mods, same quest book, because i love your series, but dont have the time to grind that much
Would be so nice to see you beat the Dungeons Dragons and spaceshuttles pack…. Or Sevtech Ages which seems somewhat related to the pack you are playing right now
The ore finder wand didn’t work because it was looking for tin ore, not cassiderite
Forge hammer is better for coal
Multiblock macerator is worth considering soon
Slime trees are way better than using rubber trees
@11:58 tin usually can be found high up, e.g., in mountains
You can actually get infinite water way earlier by getting an Automagy Thirsty Tank, which can be built as soon as you get access to Aluminium.
Such a great series!
Take things at your own pace, the most Important thing is to have fun! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it :D
anyone else love this guy?
I LOVE YOUR EPISODES
ThreeFold what launcher do you use for GTNH
Yeah, space planning is the single biggest issue in all my bases.
