Benchmark full proof is one of very few buffalo trace products that have ever impressed me.
Might be the cheapest full proof bottle on the market too!
Bought the whole set, either Bonded or Full Proof was my favorite. I was incredibly shocked on how smooth and easy the Full Proof was being 125% Proof. Delicious smell and flavor profiles.
Full proof is legit. Literally had some yesterday. Might be fantastic in an Old Fashioned but haven’t made one with it yet.
I bet it would make a fantastic old fashioned. Miss wrench has been loving them lately, I’m definitely trying to make her one with the full proof now
1 BiB
2 Full Proof
3 SiB
4 small batch
5 Top Floor
6 Bench Mark 8
That's my ranking....here in GA they range from $20-28 depending on where you go...and Full Proof being the most expensive of the offerings (usually).
$28 for a full proof bottle is still crazy too! Totally unheard of in the market. $20 for the bib is such a great deal to me
I picked up Bonded and Full Proof on a whim. I was pleasantly impressed with both.
Great video and enjoyed the new camera angles and b roll for bottles sweet nerd. I am actually picking up a couple bottles of the Full Proof this weekend. My brother picked up yesterday in KY while on a quick work trip. For the money sounds like a must have. Cheers 🥃🔧
Trev, fairly new subscriber. Thanks for a GREAT video that was both fun and educational. Fairly new to the bourbon community so I have not tried any of the Benchmark products yet. I do know, thanks to your video here, which ones I'll pick up first. I've been collecting for about six months and have 100 bottles on the shelf so far. Lots of fun. Thank you again for an entertaining and informative 21 minutes and 20 seconds!
Cheers buddy! Really glad to have you along for the ride! Hopefully you can find some of these bottles and give them a try! Honestly with how cheap they are, definitely worth the gamble!
That bonded is legit a great budget pour. Love the b roll buddy!! Great job on these
Friggin awesome video Trev!!! 🤘
Friggin shayla wayla the nerd!
Trev, that video was awesome. I really enjoyed the new style, extra camera and the lighting!
I worked hard on it man!! Seriously thank you AGAIN for making this video even happen!
Thank You for sponsoring this video! It was extremely helpful and saved me some cash... Many Thanks Brother!
I laughed when you made the "dehydration" comment at the beginning. I immediately remembered the "Drink ___ canteens of water" chart in boot camp.
I saw so many grown men piss themselves because of all the water they made us drink!
Need to try these
Great editing and B-roll bro.
Totally agree, Bonded is my favorite Benchmark also. Interesting that SLB Drinks just put it last place. I guess everyone comes at these differently. Bourbon Junkies are split on it too!
Well once people realize that everyone’s palates are different and to stop following what a RUclips channel says, they’ll be forced to try things themselves and formulate their own opinion. Just goes to show that everyone’s different! Cheers buddy
I just picked up full and single and drinking single tonight. Nice bourbon. Nothing special, but good daily pull for the price. Can only buy one each at Binny’s up here in Chicagoland, but at least I got to try a couple.
I have a couple of bottles of each except for the benchmark 8. But I do keep the wt101 on hand also
Can only get the 8 in my state as well. I have tried the 8 it wasn’t bad on the rocks.
My taste profile is wild turkey / Russell bourbons. I feel confident about your recommendations here.
Cheers man, you’ve been killing it watching all these videos! Glad you stopped by the channel!
Haven't had any, maybe the Full Proof be a good mixer?
I think I match your list. Buffalo Trace is ridiculously priced in FL and these fill a void. Still tons of other great Bourbon that I don't have to overpay for though.
I just picked up a bottle of Benchmark BiB and it’s in the same bottle your Full Proof is. Maybe they switched bottle designs? I want to try Full Proof but it’s hard to find around here.
When I see your tastings, like other professional palates, eventually their taste buds become numb and they become proof hounds.
I’ve actually found myself gravitating towards lower proof things now. I’m starting to prefer a solid 100 proof pour instead of 120+ plus
I'd imagine the bonded tastes very similar to standard buffalo trace, which makes sense, same juice and has a closer to what buffalo trace probably is age wise
Yes, I just tried the bonded because I usually get Evan Williams bottled in bond, and I do like benchmark better!
Now someone else did a review on all of them and put bonded last. I couldn’t figure that out and they put full proof first place?
Just goes to show that everyone’s palate is different! The best way to know what’s good or not is simply drinking them yourself!
Where did you get your shelves?
SiB #1 for me.
Full Proof is hands down the best imo
Tried them all. Full proof is the only rebuy.
What did you pay for the full proof? I think that it’s definitely a solid bottle especially that there’s essentially no other bottle that high of proof for that cheap
@@TheBourbonWrench 25 bucks from Total Wines in Georgia. I heard a rumor that Buffalo Trace would stop production of the new Benchmade lineup after October. Full proof is a great value and I need to grab a couple more.
I'm convinced top floor is just watered down full proof. Other than standard benchmark the singke barrel was next. Then small batch then bonded then top floor winner full proof with a lump. 16.99 bottle just picked up two more.
Nice run through of these.. What do you think about blinding the bonded and single barrel against a standard Buffalo Trace?
I might just have to do that! A single barrel AND a regular trace
Just did that. It is shocking how similar they are to ER. Just think of them younger ER and they are very good for $19 and $24 bucks. On ice,I bet most wouldn’t be able to tell them apart as well as they think.
I haven't seen anything but No 8 at my stores.
I don’t know how many states they are in right now. Several random parts of the country
I’m a huge benchmark fan!! Never seen the others but the og number 8 is bomb diggty. But it’s 13$ here and he’ll na. I drink it on the rocks or straight….. But where I’m from we sip moon shine all night too lol lol.
Man you’d be in a whole new world of drunk if you got your hands on these others! They aren’t in every state (hopefully they will be eventually) so that’s probably why you don’t see them. I don’t get them in my state either
Idkkk I’m a pro. Lol
Cool way to do this, first time trying all but the 8. The only downside being these are "neck pours." It would be interesting to do this again after the bottles are several weeks or months opened and about half-full, to see how well each one opens up.
Consistency? Well I can't and won't drink the glass; 'tis the juice inside that counts mostest. Heard that "Full Proof" is the pick of the litter. Your thoughts?
So many people rave about the full proof. Everyone’s palate is different. The bottled in bond is the best to me. I’ve also heard people say they hate the bib. So my thoughts is that the full proof is the SAFEST of the litter. IMO definitely not the best. It’s worth a shot though, cheap enough to if you hate one…save it as a mixer. All good then!
It's a mixer. You go with the highest proof.
Is that a true single barrel that every bottle is unique or do u think the single barre is just a selling feature?
In theory; they should be different. I will say, these guys are pretty good and consistent that they may not have much variation. I feel like you come across barrel picks though that are far different from each other.
I’ve never seen any of the top 3. Where do they sell these?
I think right now they are in select states. I haven’t seen them in my area either
Best one is Benchmark 8 because its cheap and available .. the others are BT hyped. in VA they are all ALLOCATED.. and the only one on the shelf is *8.. if I am going to buy something allocated.. ITS NOT BENCHMARK.. lol. BT put this entire lineup of Benchmarks, but they do not make a ton of them.. like everything out of BT is marketed and then overhyped, I do not bother with BT unless it is sitting on the shelf. VA ABC has some issue with supply from BT and we almost never see any of thier products sitting on the shelves. Your states may vary. Lastly... your comment about Evan Williams Bonded... I can walk into any store and pickup a liter for 30$ but will never see any Benchmarks on the shelves.. why? I think you know.. BT is a GIMICKY DISTILERY.. all the products they make always in short supply or unavailable if they are any good.. why?
I have only tried 8 and it was the worst of the 20 or so bourbons I have bought. I have seen 7 people rank these and everyone is different, so I am going to have to try them
That’s honestly the best thing to do! The more I go back to them; the more confusing it gets too. Honestly, I stick by my top 3. But how I’d rank them could be different day by day
@@TheBourbonWrench I know what you mean. Some days a bourbon will be my favorite and other days not so much.
@@TheBourbonWrench it really helps when lots of people like the same bourbon and then I know I want to try it. It took a long time to find Early Times bottled in bond but so many people had said they loved it I had to try it. And they were right it's a very good bourbon for only $25 for a liter
Entirely possible that the Full Proof bottle design was intentional.
Kudos I'll take bottle number one. Where's Willow
Single Barrel…
You're crazy. The Full Proof is definitely the winner here.
Benchmark Bourbon is nothing more than Seagram's Benchmark bourbon of the 1970's and 80's.
