Surprise! The toothpick is the most used tool on my knives! Maybe because I have teeth like stars, not so shiny but just as far apart!🤭 Thanks for the video.
I've just bought a Fieldmaster as it seems to give the best assortment of tools in a reasonably-sized knife. I didn't know about the pin hole though, so will definitely be raiding my wife's sewing kit for one of those!
hope you enjoy the knife - hope the pin hole may be of use to you - Victorinox pins seem to be a bit fatter than many regular straight pins - so if you raid your wife's sewing table make sure her pins aren't so thin they fall out.... thanks for the comment....
Really good video, excellent close-ups . I'm a meat eater and use the toothpick regularly. A 6mm magnet nests in the can opener, and can be used to magnify the straight pin or tweezers for a makeshift compass . Great knife !
Recently, I purchased the SAK huntsman. Looking to customize it in a few ways. First thing would be to add a sewing needle with some thread under the saw blade, and the straight pin. As for the tooth pick and/or picking ones teeth free of food particles after eating, I'll pass using it. Wooden tooth picks are a better option for those that still do it in private or public. I have used the SAK tooth pick for more of a light weight usage tool for placing tiny micro screws back in their deep hole slots, etc.
Tooth pics are used all the time where I'm from ,I just leave it there , Almost every time I eat I need a toothpick. Really enjoyed the video very well done Thank you.
@@readiysteadiy Your welcome thanks again for your information in that video your the only one I've seen mention the straight pin holder added it right away . I'm about to put out a video on this knife as well.

I like the Huntsmen. Same tools except you have the corkscrew instead of the Phillips. And you can wrap a waxed fire tinder around the corkscrew which is specifically made for SAK. And you can buy a Fero rod that fits into the toothpick slot turning your SAK into an emergency fire-starting kit. Also, the Huntsmen and the Fieldmaster only have 9 actual tools that have multiple functions.
Regarding people not using toothpicks are restaurants anymore, I had no idea. Maybe it's a US thing? Or do you just wait until you get home to brush your teeth? I see toothpicks as something you can quickly use to get rid of something stuck in your teeth that is bothering you, before you have the chance to properly floss and brush them.
I use the tooth pick quite a bit. Literally almost every time after I eat. People do use tooth picks still. lol why wouldn’t they? Literally a lot of restaurants still have them
I just bought the Huntsman. I was trying to put a pin in there when I close the corkscrew. I think part of the pin broke off inside of it. Is there any way to get it out?
Sorry but you are wrong about the toothpick. I have slight gaps between my teeth and I’m always using a tooth pick. I know a lot of people that do. Otherwise the Fieldmaster is the best SAK IMO (I upgraded to the plus scales for the pen).
I don't know why everyone craps on the toothpick. It comes in handy all of the time when you need to MacGyver something, push a tiny reset button or watch button, or clean in between the tools on the Swiss Army Knife. And I can imagine if you're camping for multiple days and get something stuck in your teeth, you would appreciate it. Or even if you're at the office and realize you have something awkwardly stuck in your teeth that won't come out easily, it's a life saver. It's like the tweezers. You don't think about it often, but are glad it's there when needed. People talk about how it's not hygienic, but come on people, it's easy enough to clean and disinfect the thing before and after use.
Only problem with Swiss Army knives is the handle. Anything beyond light use will tear your hands up with all the little pinchy spots between the tools and also the plastic leaves and metal body they attach to. The red plastic leaves are only held on by two bent tabs of metal and this makes the plastic very prone to becoming loose and eventually falling off. Once they fall off the tool is like a cheese grater on your palm. It’s happened to me and I have read several survival stories with the same result. The Swiss army plier multi tool solves all those issues.
Thanks for thinking of it anyway… for the record there are 72 full length videos as of now - and 8 shorts…. RUclips almost requests content creators make shorts but it seems a little troublesome from a viewers perspective - bit of a lousy workaround - but have you tried: replace /shorts/ from the URL with /watch?v= so you have a normal YT video format instead of the shorts?

You're not alone on the toothpick thing - obviously I'm going to have to reconsider....

The parcel hook is also a great spring installation/removal tool.
The hook is useful for twisting wire. Also can be used to pick up those thin plastic grocery bags.
good point - agreed....
I LOVE the toothpick!
Lol - sounds good....
Use it to eat sliced fruit.
The Fieldmaster is my EDC of choice. I am thinking of getting plus scales, though.
The toothpick is very useful after eating an orange or popcorn!
I’d go dental floss with the orange - but you got me on the popcorn thing…

is the Victorinox FIELDMASTER a 3 layer or a 4 layer multi-tool ?
I use the tooth pick almost daily! ATB Sam Adler from Vietnam
Victorinox makes the very best pocket knives anywhere!
Agreed…

Inspiration is what RUclips’s all about… :)
i have one and is a life saver on my daily work. nice video
Thanks for watching..!
The pin can also be magnetized to make an emergency compass. Float it on some still water, or even just suspended it from a thread.
Excellent comment thanks!
This video was very informative keep up the good work!
thanks very much - will do....

Just bought one basically same as the Huntsman both are great SAK.
Cool - I really like SAK. Enjoy your new tool....

Waiting for mine to be delivered tomorrow. 2/5/22.
Sorry to get back so late - hope you enjoyed the fieldmaster...?
I've toyed with getting a Fieldmaster or Hu tsman, but I can't get behind the saw. It just seems too small to be of much use.
I know it’s an old video but how do you feel about this or the outrider???
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🇹🇷

I use the toothpick several times a day.
I get that a lot - clearly an opinion I’m going to have to revisit…:).

Yes, the tooth pick, lol.
I was going to subscribe, but so many of your videos are shorts and they don't add to a playlist or play on my Chromecast.

@@readiysteadiy I only checked your recent uploads.
Thank you for the tip !
As a RUclips TV watcher Shorts are a major PITA !
There lots of fake victorinox available in the market. They are made to close to 95% similarity.
Thanks for pointing that out - unfortunately that's a problem with lots of products available for sale....
