This is a relatively practical style called Yiquan. It is not rare in Northern China but is rare outside China. It was created by Wang Xiangzhai,a xingyi expert who thought that people spent too much time thinking about their forms and not enough time thinking about how they use their mind and spirit in combat. He eradicated all forms training and made standing meditation the key element in his system. It is known in China as Yiquan and Dachengquan. In Japan as Tai Ki Ken.
Wang xiang zhai-the fouder was a very thin and small man, also his successor-Yao zungxun and his sons. maybe some people get bigger because they like to eat or becaue of genetics... i think that the spirit they project and the way they move is much more interesting then their diet...esspecialy Wang shangwen is awsome!
You have to read on this style to understand! Its formless but the user utilizes his/her natural rythm. It may look silly but good gung fu isnt pretty!
@qimassage I incorporate zhan zhuang in my karate training for developing whole body strength and internal energy. Just started since 2 weeks actually, but somehow I can't imagine me doing these movements for fighting. Is this whats called fa li? Since I'm new I'm kinda curious how to use this into kyokushin karate
I understand nobody does a kata when fighting. I just wondering what those arm movements are for what this guy does. My organization's leader is hatsuo royama and he also use taikiken same as my favourite fighter kazumi hajime. The last one you can clearly see some of the yiquan movements, but not as much as Wang Shangwen in here.
It is not originally inside kung fu. Rather 'parody' of hsing i, pa kua, tai chi plus some of chi kung and kick boxing. In this style there is no traditional forms. This what we see it is something like shadow boxing from european boxing.
